Authors of this article reflects about the modern approach to the interpretation of the term «urbanization» from the point of view of environmental science, based on the original theoretical and practical research. Conceptual analysis and conceptual verification of this phenomenon are extremely important for further work on the study of urbanization processes. Unfortunately, at present, the concept of «urbanization» is considered by most researchers as a social, political, and partly economic phenomenon. However, urbanization is basically an ecological process that includes the entire complex of anthropogenic transformations of natural objects. All subsequent socio-economic, urban planning, cultural and other changes are carried out by a person on the basis of transformed landscapes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
