The present study investigated the influence of varying Bi2O3 concentration on physical, thermal and optical properties of boro-vanadate glasses. Glasses with the composition of 60V2O5−(40-x) B2O3-xBi2O3 were synthesized; where x=5-25 mol% (with step size of 5 mol%). The non-crystalline nature of prepared samples was confirmed with X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns. The different properties of the processed samples were ascertained using a density measurement instrument, Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and ultra-violet visible spectrometry (UV-visible). The glass samples' density, molar volume, and crystalline volume increases while the band gap decreases as Bi2O3 content increases. The band gap was found in the range of 1.63 eV to1.92 eV. Glass transition temperature (Tg) showed a decreasing trend but increased for a sample x=20 mol%. Various other calculated parameters include refractive index (n), molar refractivity (Rm), metallization criterion (M), electronegativity (χ), optical basicity and electron polarizability (αᵒ). The high refractive index values (2.77-2.92) and low metallization criterion (ranging from 0.286-0.310) observed across all samples indicate the potential suitability of these glasses for non-linear optical purposes. Using the traditional melt quenching procedure under carefully regulated atmospheric circumstances, the glass system 60TeO2-(25-x)Bi2O3-15B2O3-xSrCl2 with mole fractions x=5, 10, 15, and 20 was created. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to calculate the glass transition temperature (Tg), and it was shown that the Tg value increased as the amount of SrCl2 in the glass system increased. This rise in Tg is probably due to a greater number of bridging oxygen (BO) atoms, indicating the increase in glass thermal stability. FTIR and Raman spectral data have been deconvoluted for estimating the peak, whereas each deconvoluted peak exhibits numerous peaks. The present glass system's IR and Raman spectra analysis revealed that SrCl2 acts as a network modifier in the form of Sr-O bond. TeO2 is made up of a variety of structural components, including TeO3 trigonal pyramidal, TeO4 trigonal bipyramidal, and TeO3+1. BiO6 octahedral structural units define bismuth (Bi2O3), which modifies networks. Both BO3 trigonal and BO4 tetrahedral structural units of B2O3 can be found in the glass system. In this paper, Pure and Er doped SnO2 (Er = 1%, 3%, 5% and 7%) nanoparticles have been synthesized by sol-gel method to investigate the degradation of harmful Rose bengal dye. Undoped and erbium-doped SnO2 nanoparticles formed a tetragonal rutile structure, as shown by X-ray diffraction. Oxygen vacancy concentration has been found to increase with an increase in dopant incorporation, according to photoluminescence analysis. Furthermore, the band gap was reduced up to 5% Er (Eg = 3.37 eV) in comparison to that of non-substituted SnO2 (Eg = 3.74 eV), with the creation of vacancy defects being the main cause. The photocatalytic results indicate that 96.94% Rose bengal dye have been degraded by Er 5% within 60 min under UV light irradiation, indicating Er 5% doped SnO2 is the most suitable catalyst to degrade industrial waste (organic dye) on a large scale. The glass system with composition 55B2O3.10K2O.(35-x)CaO.xMgO (x=0,5,10,15) has been prepared using normal melt quench process. XRD measurement was done to verify the non-crystalline nature of the glass system. The glass transition temperature was calculated using DSC and was found to increase initially at low content of MgO and decreased at high content of MgO. Iron containing bismuth silicate glasses with compositions 70SiO2·(100-x)Bi2O3·xFe2O3 have been prepared using conventional melt-quenching method and their amorphous nature has been investigated using XRD. Density has been measured using Archimedes' principle and molar volume (Vm) have also been estimated. With increase in Fe2O3 content, there is a decrease in density and molar volume of the glass samples. The glass transition temperature (Tg) have been determined using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and are observed to increase with increase in Fe2O3 content. In the present glass system bismuth and iron plays the role of network modifier and the symmetry of silicate network goes on increasing with Fe2O3 content and it modifies the physical and structural properties of these glasses. Bi0.1Zn0.45VO3.1 thin films of thicknesses 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250nm, have been fabricated from oxide glass of composition 50V2O5-5Bi2O3-45ZnO by using vacuum thermal evaporation technique. The optical properties of as-deposited thin films have been studied by using UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy. The as-deposited thin films follow both direct allowed and direct forbidden band optical transitions with optical band gap ranging 3.85-2.70 and 3.94-3.14 respectively.
