We have measured the β decay half-lives of 50Mn, 51Fe, 52,53Co, and 53,54Ni produced via the 58Ni projectile fragmentation. The uncertainty of 52Co half-life was reduced by a factor of 3 compared to the previous result. The half-lives were evaluated with the previous values and used as inputs of nucleosynthesis calculations of the rapid proton-capture process in an x-ray burst. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Several reactions have been experimentally studied, including the 12N(d,n)13O and the ones induced by the 3He+12C entrance channel. The former was carried out at the CRIB facility of University of Tokyo, aiming to indirectly determine the astrophysical reaction rates of the 12N(p,γ)13O reaction. Systematic indirect measurements of nuclear astrophysical reactions using the unstable ion beam facility GIRAFFE in CIAE were performed. We have measured the angular distributions of transfer reactions, such as 8Li(d,p)9Li, 8Li(d,n)9Be and 8Li(p,d)7Li in inverse kinematics, and derived the astrophysical S-factors or reaction rates for 8Li(n,γ)9Li and 8Li(p,γ)9Be by using asymptotic normalization coefficient (ANC) or spectroscopic factor methods. A sensitive time-resolved 1-D x-ray imaging system with linear energy response to 100eV–2keV x-rays is developed and applied in Z-Pinch experiments to investigate time dependent x-ray distribution with one-dimensional(1-D) spatial resolution of 0.1mm∼0.4mm and temporal resolution of 3ns. A slit in the system relays the 1-D image of the pinch plasma to a plastic scintillator foil with a thickness of 0.2mm which converts x-ray to visible and near-infrared light and has linear response to x-ray energy. With an optical fiber array consisting of 40 linearly arranged individual fibers behind the scintillator foil, it is capable of transmitting the 1-D image out from within the vacuum chamber. The optical fiber array is subsequently coupled to a streak camera via optical fiber bundle consisting of 40 individual 30-meter-long fibers to allow the investigation of time-resolved 1D x-ray distribution. To avoid viewing the plasma-generated visible light and covering aluminum foil on the scintillator, both the scintillator foil and the fiber array are tilted at an angle of 45 degrees from the line of sight. This diagnostic system has been successfully applied in gas-puff and tungsten wire-array Z-Pinch experiments carried out on Qiang-Guang-1, S-300, and Angara-5-1 facilities for time-resolved measurement of x-ray power distribution along the axis or radius of the imploding plasma. In these experiments, the current is in the range of 1–3MA and the x-ray radiation energy is in the order of 10–50kJ. Three almost-identical rebunchers have been designed for HIRFL-CSR. The first one B 1 is going to be taken the off-line test and will be installed in place soon. The rebunchers B1 and B2 are in the BL1 beam line from the injector cyclotron SFC to the main cyclotron SSC, together for the longitudinal matching between the two cyclotrons. The rebuncher B3 is in the BL2 beam line from SSC to the main ring CSRm, either working at the stand-alone mode for the beam from SSC or at the combined mode together with B 1 for the beam from SFC. They work at different harmonic modes depending on the beam energy to get the best matching effect. The rebunchers of 22∼54MHz for B1 and B2 and 23.5∼56MHz for B3 in frequency range and 20∼120kV in amplitude use two tuning mechanisms, where the two movable capacitors are for low frequency end and the movable short-circuit panel is for high frequency end.
