Starting from the application field of AGV, this paper briefly introduces the four research directions of AGV guidance technology, transplanting technology, battery technology and intelligent technology. Aiming at the driving system of AGV key components, this paper introduces in detail the composition of the driving system, types of motors and calculation methods of motor decelerator selection.

The probability of occurrence formation reaction of beryllian indialite (Mg2BeAl2Si6O18) species-specific mixture of a stoichiometric oxide was first estimated with use of physicochemical calculation methods. It is shown that such reaction is thermodynamically unfavorable over the entire temperature range. The application of physicochemical method enabled the experimental fact of beryllian indialite crystallization to be considered as the reaction product of intermediate phases.

Material fatigue it is one of the most frequent causes of steel bridge failures, particularly the bridges already existing. Thus, the procedure of fatigue life assessment is one of the most relevant procedures in a comprehensive assessment of load-carrying capacity and service life of the structure. A reliable assessment of the fatigue life is predominantly decisive for estimation of the remaining service life. Hitherto, calculation methods of welded joints took into account only stresses occurring in cross sections of whole elements and did not take into account stress concentration occurring in the vicinity of the weld, caused by geometrical aspects of the detail. At present, use of the Finite Element Analysis, makes possible looking for more accurate approach to the fatigue design of steel structures. The method of geometrical stresses is just such approach which is based on definition of stresses which take into account geometry of the detail. The study presents fatigue assessment of a representative type of welded joint in welded bridge structures. The testing covered longitudinal attachments. The main analyses were carried out on the basis of FEM and the method of local stresses, so-called „hot-spot” stresses. The obtained values of stresses were compared with the values obtained in accordance with the method of nominal stress.

This paper presents research methods applied for calculation of a transported bed load of large lowland rivers. The research area consists of two measurement profiles on the Vistula River (Poland) in its lower course. The part with results shows the output of two research approaches used by the authors to determine the capacity of bed load transport. The first one concerned the presentation of own field measurements which involved testing sand bar dynamics with surveying and cartographic methods. The heterogeneity of students studying mechanical engineering at the University of Kassel causes some difficulties in mathematical education. More precisely, students start with very different levels of knowledge and practice in basic and advanced calculation methods and concepts. Due to this effect the classical mathematical education, consisting of main lecture, lecture hall instructions and exercises, has been extended by additional courses during the last couple of years. In the present paper we give an overview of these courses and other supporting arrangements. We explain their structure and interaction and discuss first positive effects.

Large molecular aggregates present important examples of strongly nonhomogeneous systems. We apply combined quantum mechanics / molecular mechanics approaches that assume treatment of a part of the system by quantum-based methods and the rest of the system with conventional force fields. Herein we illustrate these computational approaches by two different examples: (1) large-scale molecular systems mimicking natural photosynthetic centers, and (2) components of prospective solar cells containing titan dioxide and organic dye molecules. We demonstrate that modern computational tools are capable to predict structures and spectra of such complex molecular aggregates.

This talk is devoted to resonance interaction (RES) in the proposed fine-grained tracker detector (FGT) for LBNE experiment. We use fast MC to study the sensitivity of FGT to RES, and use this measurement as a handle to constrain nuclear effects. Similar analysis is performed on NOMAD data for validation and better understanding. Preliminary RES measurement result using NOMAD data will be reported.

This work demonstrates the performance of the recently proposed explicitly correlated coupled-cluster method CCSD(F12*) and a new method using explicitly correlated triple excitations, CC3(F12*), in the calculation of the static ESHG hyperpolarizability of the Ne atom.

A control problem for stochastically forced nonlinear continuous-time systems is considered. We propose a method for construction of the regulator that provides a preassigned probabilistic distribution of random states in stochastic equilibrium. Geometric criteria of the controllability are obtained. Constructive technique for the specification of attainability sets is suggested.

Now we can investigate quantum phenomena for the real materials and molecules, and can design functional materials by computation, due to the previous developments of quantum theory and calculation methods. As there still exist the limit and problem in theory, the cooperation between theory and computation is getting more important to clarify the unknown quantum mechanism, and discover more efficient functional materials. It would be next-generation standard. Finally, our theoretical methodology for boundary solid is introduced.

Amyloids are insoluble and misfolded fibrous protein aggregates and associated with more than 20 serious human diseases. We perform all-atom molecular dynamics simulations of amyloid fibril assembly and disassembly.

Plastic products are becoming more and more widely used in aerospace, IT, digital electronics and many other fields. With the development of technology, the requirement of product precision is getting higher and higher. However, type and working performance of clamping unit play a decisive role in product precision. Clamping characteristics of different types of clamping unit are discussed in this article, which use finite element numerical analysis method through the software ABAQUS to study the clamping uniformity, and detect the clamping force repeatability precision. The result shows that compared with toggled three-platen clamping unit, clamping characteristics of internal circulation two-platen clamping unit are better, for instance, its mold cavity deformation and force that bars and mold parting surface suffered are more uniform, and its clamping uniformity and repeatability precision is also better.

The panel data modeling has received a great attention in econometric research recently. This is due to the availability of data sources and the interest to study cross sections of individuals observed over time. However, the problems may arise in modeling the panel in the presence of cross sectional dependence and outliers. Even though there are few methods that take into consideration the presence of cross sectional dependence in the panel, the methods may provide inconsistent parameter estimates and inferences when outliers occur in the panel. As such, an alternative method that is robust to outliers and cross sectional dependence is introduced in this paper. The properties and construction of the confidence interval for the parameter estimates are also considered in this paper. The robustness of the procedure is investigated and comparisons are made to the existing method via simulation studies. Our results have shown that robust approach is able to produce an accurate and reliable parameter estimates under the condition considered.

In order to determination vertical deflections and rail bending moments the Winkler model (1867) is often used. This linear model neglects several conditions. For example, by using experimental results, it has been observed that there is a substantial increase in the maximum rail deflection and rail bending moment when considering the nonlinearity of the track support system. A deeper mathematical analysis of the models is necessary in order to obtain better methods for more accurate numerical solutions in the determination of deflections and rail bending moments. This paper is intended to be a small step in this direction.

By using the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method, the Schrodinger equation has been solved for the interaction of inversely quadratic Hellmann (IQHP) and inversely quadratic potential (IQP) for any angular momentum quantum number, l. The energy eigenvalues and their corresponding eigenfunctions have been obtained in terms of Laguerre polynomials. Special cases of the sum of these potentials have been considered and their energy eigenvalues also obtained.

We review the research done in recent years in our group on the effects of nanostructure symmetry, and outline its relevance both for nanostructure physics and for computations of their electronic and optical properties. The exemples of C3v and C2v quantum dots are used. A number of surprises and non-trivial aspects are outlined, and a few symmetry-based tools for computing and analysis are shortly presented.

The Trojan Horse method is a powerful indirect technique to determine the astrophysical factor for binary rearrangement processes A+x→b+B at astrophysical energies by measuring the cross section for the Trojan Horse (TH) reaction A+a→B+b+s in quasi free kinematics. The Trojan Horse Method has been successfully applied to many reactions of astrophysical interest, both direct and resonant. In this paper, we will focus on direct sub-processes. The theory of the THM for direct binary reactions will be shortly presented based on a few-body approach that takes into account the off-energy-shell effects and initial and final state interactions. Examples of recent results will be presented to demonstrate how THM works experimentally.

International audience; The abundance of 18F in Nova explosions is considered to be an important piece of information for the understanding of this astrophysical phenomenon. It is then necessary to study the nuclear processess that both produce and destroy this isotope in Novae. Among these latter reactions, the 18F(p,α)15O is one of the most important 18F destruction channels. Here we report on an experiment performed using the CRIB apparatus of the Center for Nuclear Study of the University of Tokyo. This was the first experiment that used the Trojan Horse method applied to a Radioactive Ion Beam induced reaction.

SIM-RIBRAS is a Root-based Monte-Carlo simulation tool designed to help RIBRAS users on experience planning and experimental setup enhancing and caracterization. It is divided into two main programs: CineRIBRAS, aiming beam kinematics, and SolFocus, aiming beam optics. SIM-RIBRAS replaces other methods and programs used in the past, providing more complete and accurate results and requiring much less manual labour. Moreover, the user can easily make modifications in the codes, adequating it for specific requirements of an experiment.

We describe a NLL BFKL calculation implemented in the HERWIG MC of the gap between jets cross section, that represent a test of BFKL dynamics. We compare the predictions with recent measurements at the Tevatron and present predictions for the LHC. We also discuss the interesting process of looking for gap between jets in diffractive events when protons are detected in the ATLAS Forward Physics (AFP) detectors.

Two calculation methods of annual energy balance of building envelopes are presented in this paper. As reference building envelope, single-layer autoclaved aerated concrete masonry is chosen. The first calculation method is based on simplified standard procedure, the second method on results of more sophisticated hygrothermal simulation under realistic climatic conditions. Both results are compared and analyzed.

New experiments devoted to the measurements of physical parameters of a light water core surrounded by a heavy reflector were performed in the IPEN/MB-01 research reactor facility. These experiments comprise three sets of heavy reflector (SS-304, Carbon Steel, and Nickel) in a form of laminates around 3 mm thick. Each set was introduced individually in the west face of the core of the IPEN/MB-01 reactor. The aim here is to provide high quality experimental data for the interpretation and validation of the SS-304 heavy reflector calculation methods. The experiments of Carbon Steel, which is composed mainly of iron, and Nickel were performed to provide a consistent and an interpretative check for the SS-304 reflector experiment. The experimental results comprise critical control bank positions, temperatures and reactivities as a function of the number of the plates. Particularly to the case of Nickel, the experimental data are unique of its kind. The theoretical analysis was performed by MCNP-5 with the nuclear data library ENDF/B-VII.0. It was shown that this nuclear data library has a very good performance up to thirteen plates and overestimates the reactivity for higher number of plates independently of the type of the reflector.

Estimating of the costs of construction project is one of the most important task in the management of the project. The total costs can be divided into direct costs that are related to executing the works, and indirect costs that accompany delivery. A precise costs estimation is usually a highly labour and time-intensive task especially when using manual calculation methods. This paper presents Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach to predicting index of indirect cost of construction projects in Poland. A quantitative study was undertaken on the factors conditioning indirect costs of polish construction projects and a determination was made of the actual costs incurred by enterprises during project implementation. As a result of these studies, a data set was assembled covering 72 real-life cases of building projects constructed in Poland.

In this work, we use the QCD Sum Rules (QCDSR) technique to obtain informations about the strong coupling constant of the three meson vertex φDsDs. The calculation is done for the case where the φ meson is considered off-shell.

Can we get the information on π p and π π scattering from the LHC data? We present briefly recent results of the IHEP Diffractive Group, which include all the steps: formulation of the problem, an idea how to solve it, experimental tools, Monte‐Carlo simulation and preliminary expectations concerning the first data from the LHC.

Predictive power of theory needs good models and accurate calculation methods to solve the Shrodinger equations of the systems concerned. We present some examples of successful predictions based on the nuclear cluster models of light nuclei and hypernuclei and on the calculation methods that have been developed by Kyushu group.

This paper deals with the simulation of UNS A92024 aluminium alloy cutting processes. In particular, 2D and 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations were carried out in order to estimate cutting forces and chip morphology during turning operations. The material is modelled with two different set of parameters for the Johnson—Cook’s (J‐C) constitutive equation and a failure Cockroft and Latham’s model exploited considers damage. The comparison between the predicted chip morphology and principal cutting forces at varying of J‐C parameters and cutting regimes with those experimentally found are presented and discussed. The paper shows the importance of damage criterion in the cutting forces, during the simulation, especially in 3D.

By applying the Hartree‐Fock calculations with the newly developed methods and interactions, spherical shell structure of medium‐mass nuclei is investigated, with paying special attention to the magicity.

The density functional theory with a few number of parameters allows a very successful phenomenological description of ground state properties of nuclei all over the nuclear chart. The recent progress on the application of the covariant density functional theory (CDFT) for nuclear structure and astrophysics as well as its extensions by the group in Beijing is summarized. In particular, its application to magnetic moments is discussed in details.

Geant4 is a Monte Carlo simulation Toolkit, describing the interactions of particles with matter. Geant4 is widely used in radiation physics research, from High Energy Physics, to medical physics and space science, thanks to its sophisticated physics component, coupled with advanced functionality in geometry description. Geant4 is widely used at the Centre for Medical Radiation Physics (CMRP), at the University of Wollongong, to characterise and optimise novel detector concepts, radiotherapy treatments, and imaging solutions. This lecture consists of an introduction to Monte Carlo method, and to Geant4. Particular attention will be devoted to the Geant4 physics component, and to the physics models describing electromagnetic and hadronic physics interactions. The second part of the lecture will be focused on the methodology to adopt to develop a Geant4 simulation application.

Every neutrino experiment requires a Monte Carlo event generator for various purposes. Historically, each series of experiments developed their own code which tuned to their needs. Modern experiments would benefit from a universal code (e.g. PYTHIA) which would allow more direct comparison between experiments. GENIE attempts to be that code. This paper compares most commonly used codes and provides some details of GENIE.

The neutrino oscillation phenomena in solar, atmospheric and accelerator based experiments have been solidly established during the last decade, recent experiments are aiming at more precise measurements which requires better understanding of the interaction of neutrinos with matter. The International Workshop on Neutrino‐Nucleus Interactions in the Few‐GeV region (NUINT) is a serie of workshops concentrating on low‐energy (few GeV), neutrino‐nucleus interactions. The goal of this series is to bring theorists and experimentalists from the nuclear and high‐energy communities together to address the many challenges to understanding these complex interactions. NUINT workshop serie was initiated in KEK((Japan) ten years ago with the goals of understanding the neutrino interactions and its applications to accelerator based and atmospheric neutrino oscillation experiments. An overview of the situation after the last Nuint workshop is discussed in this paper.

We have seen significant advancement in our understanding of few‐GeV neutrino‐nucleus interactions since the time of the first NuInt workshop in 2001. Now ten years later, we reflect on our progress. Highlights from the NuInt11 workshop are presented along with some suggestions for future directions.

On November 2009 the Large Hadron Collider produced the first p+p collisions. These, together with the upcoming Pb+Pb data, open up the possibility to answer some of the intriguing questions regarding the Standard Model and likely bring to light new phenomena. In this work I present a short review of the mexican participation in the ALICE experiment, focusing on the detector building and phenemological as well as Monte Carlo simulation work regarding the proton as well as the heavy ion program. I also briefly mention some of the wide spectrum of possible first topics that can be analyzed.

When thinking of an innovation that has truly changed our world, it is the laser. Right after discovery back in 1960, it is immediately propelled to a public star. People loved the mystery around this new kind of light. It was soon recognized as a symbol of our entry into the future: The Laser Age has started. Newspapers speculated about “death rays” as new weapons. It did not take long time until it appeared in Science fiction movies. However reality was much more beneficial and even more diverse. This device has managed to exceed the wildest predictions of the early laser pioneers when it comes to its applications. Today lasers are not a weird scientist’s toy, but are commonly used in our everyday life.Of course, nothing of that was foreseen in the early 1950s. Important fundamentals of lasers have been laid already in 1917 by Albert Einstein, introducing the Einstein coefficient of stimulated emission, and subsequent experimental work by Rudolf Ladenburg, Willis Lamb, Alfred Kastler and others.

I report on recent progress to calculate perturbative contributions to the gluon and ghost propagator in numerical stochastic perturbation theory (NSPT).

The quasi‐particle random‐phase approximation (QRPA) has been successfully applied for the nuclear β‐decays. In order to describe the deformed nuclei, we developed the deformed QRPA (DQRPA) with a separable Gamow‐Teller residual interaction and applied for the Gamow‐Teller transition for 26Mg. Our results for the Gamow‐Teller strength of 26Mg well reproduce available experimental data.

The use of nuclear masses to elucidate structure and its evolution with Z and N is discussed, with emphasis on two‐neutron separation energies and the proton‐neutron interaction as extracted from double differences of binding energies. The enhanced sensitivity of masses to structure in deformed nuclei is also discussed.

We summarize the presentations and discussions on advanced computation in advanced accelerators at the 2010 Advanced Accelerator Concepts Workshop. Common themes and needs are discussed. Future prospects and areas ripe for exploration are also given.

The problem of radioactive waste has become a critical issue in the country and worldwide. The radioactive waste containers, containing different radioactive materials, have to be characterized before their final disposal. Destructive methods, although being the most precise, are also the most expensive and not the easiest ones from the radioprotection point of view. In this situation, high resolution gamma spectrometry proved to be a reliable method for the non destructive assay method. However, the non‐homogenous composition of the radioactive waste inside the drum makes the quantitative characterization of the radioactive waste drum a difficult task. Experimental studies and computed results, combined with Monte Carlo simulations using GESPECOR, are presented in this paper as a possibility to achieve this task.

Any discovery of new physics relies on detailed understanding of the Standard Model background. At the LHC, we expect to extract the backgrounds from the data itself, with minimum reliance on Monte Carlo simulations. We describe new developments in ATLAS on such data-driven techniques, and prospects for their application on first data.

We present the matrix elements necessary to evaluate the half‐life of some neutrinoless double beta decay candidates in the framework of the microscopic interacting boson model (IBM). We compare our results with those from other models and extract some simple features of the calculations.

Barrier distributions can be obtained from the first derivative of the elastic and quasielastic (QEL) backward angle excitation functions [1]. In this work we present a study of the barrier distribution for the 7Li+27Al reaction from a Coupled‐Channels Born Approximation (CCBA) calculations using the code FRESCO [2].

This paper presents a progress report on the development and testing of X‐band dielectric‐loaded accelerating structures. Recent tests on several quartz DLA structures with different inner diameters are reported. Designs for gap‐free DLA structures are presented. Also, planned new experiments are discussed, including higher gradient traveling‐wave and standing‐wave structures and special grooved structures for multipactor suppression.

We performed the three‐dimensional cranked Hartree‐Fock‐Bogoliubov calculation for 182Os. A family of states obtained by the calculation are expected to be the t‐band with K = 8. We suggest a quantum mechanical mechanism which is responsible for the occurrence of a signature splitting in the t‐band.
