Textile industry causes side effects to the environment because of the use of water in processing and producing highly contaminated waste. Recently, biological treatment was applied that used bacteria and other microorganism to remove contaminants in textile wastewater. In the present study, the bacteria Pseudomonas spp. used as an alternative green technology method to decolorize and degrade coractive red dye. A bacterium identified as Pseudomonas spp. was isolated from textile wastewater. The effect of pH and dye concentrations on decolorization was studied to find the optimum conditions required for maximum decolorization. The results show that bacteria is the optimum condition of pH was 7.0 (85.45%) in the neutral region for 48 hours. The bacterium exhibited a remarkable color removal capability over a wide range of dye concentrations (100-500mg/L) at maximum of 89.40% of decolorization for 5 days. Overall, the results indicated that the Pseudomonas spp. was suitable as biological aged used in textile wastewater treatment. This study focuses on the application of expanded polystyrene (EPS) and palm oil fuel ash (POFA) as replacement materials in concrete. In this study, EPS was utilized to replace fine aggregate up to 20% in the concrete mixture. One the other hand, POFA replaced cement up to 30% in the concrete mixture. The chemical properties of POFA were determined using XRD analysis and compared with cement. The mechanical properties of concrete cubes containing EPS and POFA were determined based on workability, density, water absorption and compressive strength. The performance of the concrete containing EPS and POFA was then compared with the normal concrete. As a result, the performance of the concrete containing EPS and POFA was determined. During the last two decades, Nonlinear Energy Sinks (NESs) are experiencing tremendous developments in order to help in avoiding destructive levels of vibration amplitudes in dynamical structures. The essential nonlinear property of the NESs alters the global dynamics of the structure and therefore enable energy transfer from low-frequency modes to the NES itself and to the higher frequency modes of the structure. The ability of Type I NES to redistribute induced energy within the modes of a 9 degree-of freedom real physical structure for a range of initial impulsive excitations is investigated here. Typha Latifolia fiber (TLF) reinforced poly(lactic acid) (PLA) composites were processed using a two roll mill machine. The effects of tensile strength and thermal degradation on the composites were compared between treated and untreated fiber at different fiber loading. Treated fiber composites with 10wt.% fiber shows better tensile strength and thermal properties compared to 20, 30 and 40wt.% of fiber loading. Experimental results shows the presence of natural fiber in the bio-composite has increases the glass transition temperature (Tg). For the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), the experiments indicated that the addition of TLF enhanced the thermal stability of the bio-composites as compared to pure PLA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of this work was to investigate the structural, electrical and electrochemical properties of Li4ZrxSi1-x04 (0.02 ≤ x ≤ 0.06) compounds prepared via sol gel method. The X-ray Diffraction results showed that all compounds can be indexed to monoclinic structure in space group P21/m. The Li4Zr0.06Si0.94O4 compound showed highest bulk, grain boundary and total conductivity values of 1.19 x 10-4 S cm-1, 4.75 x 10-5 S cm-1 and 3.41 x 10-5 S cm-1 respectively. The insertion of Zr4+ is found to enhance conductivity of the parent sample Li4Si04. Linear sweep voltammetry results showed that Li4Zr0.06Si0.94O4 ceramic electrolytes was electrochemically stable up to 5.07 V versus a Li+/Li+ reference electrode. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
