Abstract

The 9Li + ²H → 10Li + ¹H one-neutron transfer reaction has been performed at 100 MeV incident energy at TRIUMF using a 9Li beam delivered by the ISAC-II facility. A setup based on double-sided silicon strip detectors has been used in order to detect and identify the outgoing 9Li produced by the 10Li breakup at forward angles and the recoil protons emitted at backward angles. The 10Li low-lying resonances, whose energies, widths and configurations are still unclear, have been populated with significant statistics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In a recent experiment performed at Triumf using the Dragon 0° spectrometer and its associated BGO array, the complete γ-decay of the radiative capture channel below the Coulomb barrier has been measured for the first time. This measurement has been performed at two energies Ec.m. = 6.6 and 7.2 MeV. A selective contribution of the entrance spins 2+ and 3- has been evidenced which is consistent with existing results above the barrier. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

We report dose measurements of electrons emitted in the interaction of a kHz laser of 1 GW with a solid target of aluminium. By using a microscope objective we are able to obtain high intensities I∼1016 W/cm-2, with less of 1 mJ before the objective. For p-polarized laser pulses and an oblique incidence of 45 degrees, we report high doses of electrons in the specular reflection direction. Energy spectra of the electrons show a bi-Maxwellian distribution with characteristic energy of T = 13.8 and 60 keV. These distributions are obtained using an array of TLDs placed at different distances from the source. We take advantage of the stopping power of air to estimate the energy distribution. Abstract

We measured the β-decay of the halo-nucleus 11Li, with particular attention to the deuteron- and triton-emission channels. We employed a post-accelerated beam of 11Li ions, and the implantation technique in a finely-segmented silicon detector. The channels of interest were identified through the time and space correlations between the implantation events and the parent and daughter decays. A radiation source has been developed on the 20-MA Z facility that produces a high power x-ray pulse (9.7±1.8 TW, 52±10 kJ), generated primarily from the interior of an imploding dynamic-hohlraum target centered along the z-axis, The radiation pulse, characterized here together with its underlying dynamics, is used for performing radiation-flow and ICF experiments with drive temperatures in excess of 200 eV. Fusion cross sections for the 6Li+120Sn and 7Li+119Sn systems have been measured.
