The aim of this paper is to analyze a rotary shaft seal in steady state thermal condition. The behavior of the seal's rubber material was taken into account by a large-strain viscoelastic, which is also well known as generalized Maxwell model, which is based on Dynamic Mechanical Thermal Analyses (DMTA) and tensile measurements. The pre- loaded garter spring was modelled with a bi-linear material model and the shaft was assumed to be linear elastic. 3d modeling of oil seal was done using SolidWorks 2020. The density, coefficient of thermal expansion and the thermal conductivity of the materials were taken into consideration during simulation in ANSYS software. For simplification & calculation ease, friction between oil seal & shaft is assumed to be constant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
