The impact factors for vehicle load were ever characterized by varied parameters among different countries, and it is now commonly described by the fundamental frequency of the first bending mode for straightened bridges, but there are still no computation formulae proposed for concrete curved bridges. Massive vehicle-bridge interaction analysises are carried out on concrete curved box girder bridges with different span length, curvature radius, section type, span number and boundary conditon, using a validated numerical method. Based on the obtained results, the impact factors for varied effects are discussed, as well as their correlation with parameters of central radius, ratio of bending to torsional rigidity, integral impact coefficient and the fundamental frequency of vertical bending mode. It is indicated that, the impact factor of interal forces, deflection and reaction force are minus correlated with the discussed parameters except for ratio of bending rigidity to torsional rigidity. The impact factors are most closely correlated with the fundamental frequency of vertical bending mode, so it is best suited to characterize the change of impact factors.

The rehabilitation properties of intelligent concrete beam reinforced with shape memory alloys (SMA) is investigated. In this study, SMA strands, made of 7 single wires, are used to replace the steel bars in ordinary concrete beam. The test of single point loading at the mid-span is conducted on the beam. The experiment has three stages including loading, unloading and heating the SMA strands. During heating the SMA strands by electrical current, the crack width can be reduced by taking the advantage of the shape memory effect of SMA strands. The results illustrate that SMA is a candidate material for rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures.

Based on scheme of Dalian gulf cross-sea bridge, in this paper, a 3-dimensional FE model for Self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridge is established with finite element program and pile-soil-structure interaction is simulated by use of the equivalent embed fixation model. Based on the FE model, model analysis is carried out and the effects of pile-soil-structure interaction on dynamic behavior of long-span self-anchored cable-stayed suspension bridge are specially studied. Under vertical excitation, the seismic response analysis result considering that pile-soil-structure interaction was compared with that of without considering such interaction. The analysis result show that interaction reduced longitudinal displacement of stiffening beam in middle of main span and tower at bottom, moment at bottom of tower and auxiliary pier pile, but enlarged the moment of conjoining section between steel and steel beam. The research results provide some theoretical foundation to composite structure system.

The AASHTO Correction model is proposed to better adapt the model to the special conditions occurring in Fujian inland waterways. These conditions include ship Type, visibility, and up-down water, navigation systems. The proposed model is related to the probability of ship collision with bridge multi-factor, and further example analysis of this model is also introduced in this paper.

In this paper, a simple and practical performance-based seismic design (PBSD) method for regular highway bridges is suggested. In the proposed PBSD method, the drift ratio of the bridge column is employed as quantitative indices of seismic performance levels, and its target values for each seismic performance level are given. The whole design processes of a regular highway bridge with various performance objects under different seismic levels are demonstrated.

The flexural fatigue performance of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber reinforced concrete (PANFRC）was investigated by third-point loading tests. Based on the previous research work, optimum mixture proportions of PANFRC for highway overlays and bridge decks that satisfied both the minimum compressive and bending strengths, and showed excellent mechanical properties, were selected for fatigue testing. The experimental program included a total of 69 flexural specimens, 15 of which were plain concrete specimens, and the remaining 54 specimens were PANFRC specimens. Three mixes containing 0.0%, 0.1 %, and 0.15% of PAN fiber volume fractions were selected. For each mix, 4 different target load ranges were applied: 10–75%, 10–80%, 10–85%, and 10–90% of the ultimate flexural capacity, as obtained from the corresponding control static test. The bending fatigue life of PANFRC specimens under various stress ratios are proved to follow two-parameter Weibull distribution. Both a semi-logarithm and a double-logarithm P-S-N equations with various failure probabilities are derived from the experimental measurements. The denifition of the fatigue damage variable and damage evolution equation for PANFRC are furtherly proposed based on theory of continuum damage mechanics.

The dynamic compressive experiments of cubic concrete specimens under various biaxial equal proportion loading were preformed. The biaxial equal proportion stress in the tests were kept constant at 1:0, 1:0.5 and 1:1, respectively, and the tested strain rate ranged from 10−5/s to 10−2/s. Based on the experimental results, the influence of the strain rates on compressive characteristics of concrete under various biaxial stress ratios were researched. The unified strength criterion in terms of principal stress space considering the influence of strain rates and biaxial stress ratio is proposed. The fitting curves by the present strength criterion agree well with experimental data.
