The article focuses on the need to value public-facing work by faculty members of color particularly during the pandemic given their essential contributions in supporting their communities and mentoring underrepresented students. Topics include disproportionate impact of the pandemic on Black, Indigenous, and people of color faculty members, the urgent need to diversify the professoriate, and the concept of academic insurgency as a practice that emphasizes interdisciplinary scholarship.
