This article discusses the relationship between chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and intimate partner violence (IPV). CTE is a condition characterized by the accumulation of abnormal tau protein in the brain, and it is typically associated with repeated mild traumatic brain injuries. While most cases of CTE have been reported in males involved in contact sports, this article highlights the presence of CTE in individuals who have experienced repetitive head injuries due to IPV. The article presents two cases of CTE in the context of IPV, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and addressing cognitive and behavioral symptoms in individuals with a history of IPV and repeated head injuries.
