The title compound, [Sr(C7H4NO4)(H2O)7](C7H4NO4)·2H2O, was synthesized from the aqueous reaction of strontium carbonate with 4-nitrobenzoic acid. The title compound, (C8H12N)2[WS4], was synthesized by the aqueous reaction of ammonium tetrasulfidotungstate(VI) with benzyl(methyl)amine in a 1:2 molar ratio. The compound is isotypic with the corresponding Mo analogue, (C8H12N)2[MoS4], and its structure consists of a slightly distorted tetrahedral [WS4]2- dianion and two crystallographically independent benzyl(methyl)ammonium cations, with all atoms located in general positions.
