The article discusses court decisions regarding the formulation of transgender rights to avoid sex discrimination in employment in the U.S. It cites the case of Glenn Morrison who was terminated from his work in the Office of Legislative Counsel when he announced his plan to turn into a woman. Retired U.S. Army Special Operations colonel David Schroer was also terminated as terrorism analyst at the Library of Congress after he undergone a facial surgery and sex change to help him transform into a woman. However, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 forbids discrimination based of race, color, religion or national origin but it does not specifically include protection for transgender people.
