This paper proposes an application of matrix algorithm to fault section estimation in complex distribution systems based on directed over-current information recorded by FTU (feeder terminal unit). First, a concise unified criterion for fault location in multi-source distribution networks is put forward, which can locate both the multiple faults and the end faults. Considering the communication problems which result in incomplete or distorted FTU over-current information, solutions are given for both situations. When the FTU information is incomplete, the fault section estimation process can be carried on as normal with ignorance of the node whose information is unknown. When the fault information suffers from aberrance, fault section candidates are located first based on the unified criterion under no information aberrance. Then the final fault area is selected in terms of the fault information sequence revision cost defined in the paper. The case studies show that the approaches proposed are both correct and feasible, which can effectively resolve the fault location issues in the case of being lack of information or suffering from information aberrance, thus with great potential for application in real-time distribution network fault section estimation programs.

The regional characteristic of relay setting calculation principles brings a challenge to the flexibility of relay coordination software, which restricts the expansion and application of relay coordination software at a certain extent. This paper proposes a flexible power system relay coordination software based on user-defined principles to meet different requirements of different electrical power companies. The common functional composition of relay coordination software is introduced firstly. Then, the flexibility of relay coordination software is discussed in detail from the points of power system operating conditions combination, step relay setting calculation, protective device setting calculation and relay setting listing. It is a good approach to achieve the flexibility of relay coordination software that protection engineers define relay setting calculation principles which will be used in relay coordination software according to their requirements. Finally, the paper presents an realization scheme for the flexible relay coordination software based on user-defined principles. The relay coordination software accomplished based on the proposed scheme will reduce a lot of workload for the maintenance of the software, and will be more flexible and expandable.

The diversity of graphics models in the electric utility software environment leads to much duplicative work and impede information sharing greatly. Although two Graphics exchange approach have been put forward by CCAPI, there still are some problem needs to be solved. This paper presents a graphics centric interoperation approach based on ontology to solve the problem of establishing contact between the graphics element and the CIM object in CCAPI graphics centric exchange approach. It can enhance the horizontal association and semantic restriction of electrical model; associate the graphics element and electrical model together by building application ontology in each heterogeneous application. The graphics interoperation can be changed into the mapping between application ontology, so that the multiple graphics display and information sharing can be realized efficiently.
