The requirement to submit and publish scientific articles in indexed journals has become a part and parcel of life in academia. Although Russian scientists are becoming more visible in the world of science due to their research achievements, they are not sufficiently recognised by a wide audience for several reasons. In this study, we scrutinize the published papers of Russian researchers working in the domains of social sciences and humanities. We aim at investigating the logic and organisation of such publications to see how the articles correspond to the meta-requirements established by the international academia. To achieve the goal we have analysed the logic and organisation of 55 published articles from the Russian scientometric database e-Library. The results emphasise that most Russian researchers do not follow the IMRaD format accepted by the majority of international journals. As a result, such articles have minimal chances to be accepted by international editors. This is not surprising, as unclear structure means lack of readability and, consequently, loss of readers accustomed to a certain article format. This situation causes concerns because Russian scientists do have a lot to say to the world of science.

The article raises the problem concerning such an important element of student’s research work as accounting and publishing its results. The modern era of digital technology not only makes high demands to the content of student research papers, but also opens opportunities to create a new system of registration and publication. The article explains the importance of assessment of individual student achievements in scientific research.

This article is the result of a two-hour workshop given to new faculty attending the International Scientific School on Engineering Education for New Industrialization held in Kazan, Tatarstan from September 23–28, 2013. The goal of the workshop was to help faculty who are interested in publishing in English at conferences. The workshop had three parts: selecting the best venue, creating an interesting title and writing a good abstract.

The subject of the research in the paper is academic ethics in the professional relationships of university teachers. The final results are presented on the basis of in-depth interviews with representatives of the academic staff of Russian universities (N=35). The purpose of the paper is to show how academic ethics as a value-normative phenomenon supports the professional relationships of academic staff at the university and forms certain values that ensure the effectiveness of the scientific and educational process. In this interpretation, the emphasis is placed on identifying the creative potential of academic ethics, its impact on the scientific and educational process at the university in terms of professional interaction of its main subjects. An assessment of the structure and content of academic ethics is given. It is established that academic ethics, being an element of academism in the higher education system, influences the formation of value-normative attitudes of respect and recognition. In addition, the importance of this phenomenon for the strategic development of the university and at the same time the preservation of academic traditions is revealed. The article also summarizes the assessments of the state of academic ethics at universities formulated by informants. In such assessments, value-semantic reflection prevails, which makes it possible to identify academic ethics as a factor of effective professional interaction between subjects of the educational process in order to achieve joint goals for the formation of their value world and professional knowledge and skills.

Quality concept, due to its multifaceted and polyfunctional nature, is in use in different areas. The term started its way in the field of higher education in 1980s, but numerous discussions on how to define it have been ongoing ever since. Considering rapid growth of online practices in universities and the fact that there is still no conventional system of quality assurance and evaluation for online mode, the aforementioned problems are becoming even more topical. In the article with an aim to grasp meaning of quality online, its theoretical and practical levels are correlated. Papers summarizing traditional approaches to rethinking quality concept in higher education and tools of practical work with quality in online and offline modes are selected as a basis for analysis. A transition from dissipated definitions into the systems of their aggregation is traced. Elements of quality understanding in offline mode potentially applicable to online are identified. The main differences between categories of quality assurance in online and offline are outlined, along with the mechanisms of their portability from one mode to another. Basing on the analysis conducted, an approach of working with quality of university online programmes synchronizing theoretical and practical levels is offered. This paper may be of interest for researchers in the field of higher education and university managers, whose interests concern questions of internal quality assurance and quality culture.

The emergence of artificial intelligence language services has raised hopes related to facilitating the task of publication activity. Members of the academic community wondered whether chatbots could optimize the process of scientific writing. ChatGPT, a language model capable of, among other things, generating scholarly texts, received particular attention. The cases of writing academic papers using ChatGPT have led to a number of publications analyzing the pros and cons of using this neural network. In this paper, we investigate the possibility of using ChatGPT to write an introduction to a scientific paper on a topical issue of the Arctic governance. A set of queries to ChatGPT network, based on the logic of the commonly accepted in academia publication format IMRAD, has being developed. This format is characterized by structural and functional elements, which served as a logical basis for the queries. The responses received from ChatGPT were analyzed for their compliance with the requirements for a scientific article, according to the IMRAD publication format. The result of the analysis showed that ChatGPT is not able to meet the requirements for publishing a scientific article in the modern scientific publication discourse.

The paper presents the results of a theoretical with elements of empirical research aimed at identifying the key factors of building an academic career, disclosed in the works of sci- entists with a proposal to visualize the construct of multifactorial conditionality of career growth in the academic environment. The study was conducted on the basis of a systematic bibliographic analysis of the most cited works on the topic, published in the Scopus and RSCI abstract databases, from an empirical point of view. The method of analyzing the digital footprint in online systems for collecting data on the scientific competitions winners (the results of the RNF competitions for 2021, n=146 projects), narrative interview and written survey of university teachers to clarify the moti- vation and awareness of their choice of academic career (n=52 people). The conducted research allows us to form a model of key factors in the development of an academic career, including 4 main, equivalent groups – personal, reputational, systemic factors and factors of social capital, as well as the luck factor, which is highlighted in a number of studies as influencing the quality and speed of building a career trajectory in the field under study. The paper suggests that the development or stagnation of one group of factors will lead to similar movements in other groups. As a result, the author actualizes the use of career lift technology, which taking into account the indicated factors of influence on academic career development indicators, will contribute to the involvement of young people in science and teaching.

The paper aims to present the theoretical and methodological foundations for developing and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) instruments in higher education within the HumanCentered AI framework and considers ChatGPT as a specific case. It is oriented toward critically analyzing scholarly literature from various disciplines to support a-disciplinary approach to utilizing AI research in higher education. The authors begin by outlining the foundations of the research, then by analyzing the implications of the “lessons” of the COVID-19 pandemic for the development of higher education in the age of AI. This is followed by an analysis of technologies such as ChatGPT that have the potential to radically change higher education in the near future. After that, the authors move on to general remarks about the prospects and challenges of using AI technologies in higher education. The relevance of the research is characterized by the analysis of the latest developments in the field of AI and their possible impact on higher education. The main results of the paper are characteristics of areas in which AI technologies can be implemented in higher education – accreditation and licensing of universities, student recruitment, teaching and learning – as well as areas in which AI technologies should not be used. In conclusion, two hypotheses are formulated, and three general and five specific conclusions about the use of AI technologies in higher education are made.

Nowadays attaining a grant is a criterion of success for an early-career researcher and an important indicator of effective work of a university as a research-based and corporate institution. During its thirty-year history in Russia, grants have become a traditional and even routine practice for every Russian PhD student and an early-career researcher. Like their international colleagues, Russian researchers often don’t get sufficient support from their scientific advisor and an academic writing expert. A few attempts to improve current situation have been made in a number of research universities. One of such cases is a course “Grant Writing” that has been recently implemented in the English-language writing-intensive program of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The complex aim or the paper can be explained by the multidimensional nature of a grant. After characterizing a grant proposal as an up-to-date text genre in the international and interdisciplinary context in the framework of Genre Field Analysis, we consider the full process of applying for a grant in real-life environment and classroom settings. Finally, in the lens of Critical Genre Analysis, the qualitative analysis of the introductory sections of Russian grant proposals is conducted. The modern genre theory gives the basis for using a combination of methods in our research. In the lens of Genre Field Analysis, the sociopragmatic approach to the grant proposal provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the modern practices of applying for a grant, while Critical Genre Analysis may contribute to the deeper understanding of the text production mechanisms. The synthesis of theory and practice and its role could be seen in the qualitative analysis of grant proposals written by PhD students, attendees of the course “Grant Writing” at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The findings give evidence for insufficient disciplinary expertise and substitution of one genre – a grant proposal – by another one, more familiar for Russian students, – a research paper and an abstract. The obtained results testify in favor of the implementation of the course “Grant Writing” as well as other genre-based courses deeply rooted in the cross-disciplinary context and aimed at developing the researcher competence.

The university teachers’ tasks are being updated, their labor functions are being revised and supplemente, with changes at the higher education system. The good organization of a modern university teacher is subject to numerous external targets. The perception of these targets, as well as the personal value of the activity components, are important. The purpose of the article are the identification of tasks for a technical university teacher from the standpoint of the Higher School strategic targets, and determination of their solution limitations. The paper reveals the strategic tasks hierarchy of higher technical education – for technical universities, departments and their teachers; the academic community attitude review to strategic objectives is carried out (including: how the strategic objectives are understood by teachers, how priorities and emphasis are placed in these tasks); the priorities of technical universities teachers are evaluated in terms of their tasks solving; restrictions are indicated in solving these problems, and these restrictions connection with the working conditions of the technical universities teaching staff. The paper points out the balancing problem of the teachers work, and the emerging dissonance among the goals, tasks set for them, and private indicators of their activities effectiveness. The engineering education strategic goals and objectives should proceed from the fact, that this is a mutually responsible process of the qualified technical specialists training, from the authors’ point of view. This is especially topical for the returning process to the engineers training.

Russia is the sixth most attractive host country for international students, and this has translated into increased publications on international students in Russia. These studies have focused on the issues of Russian higher education internationalization, foreign student mobility, and acculturation challenges of international students. This paper seeks to highlight the knowledge base of international student research in Russia. Specifically, this paper represents a bibliometric review of indexed Scopus data to establish the seminal authors and current foci of research on international students in Russia. The findings indicate a present exponential growth in publications from 2015 in contrast to the slow start from 1999. The findings also demonstrate that the leading authors, with 59% of the sampled Scopus indexed articles, are affiliated with government-sponsored higher education institutions. The findings also established the most cited sources in the related literature and the current themes of research on international students in Russia. The implication of the research and limitations of the study were discussed. The directives for future research were proffered.

This paper presents the results of a quantitative analysis of the contribution of grant activities to ensuring the sustainable development of higher education institutions in the Russian Federation. The authors consider sustainability in five aspects of activity: educational, research, international, financial and social. Results of higher educational institutions performance monitoring (2014-2022) formed the empirical basis of the study. In this research, we used the quantile regression model to identify the effects of inertial development and the effects associated with grant activities in the dynamics of universities performance indicators. We estimated the model parameters separately in each of the decile groups. Thus, we tested the central hypothesis of the study about the quantile heterogeneity of the sensitivity of university target indicators to the intensity and effectiveness of grant funding. This paper provides evidence of significant contributions the inertial nature of the development of universities, representing advanced development groups, into the sustainability of target performance indicators. However, in terms of sensitivity to the effectiveness and intensity of grant activities, they are inferior to universities from catch-up development groups in almost all aspects of their activities. The identified patterns of sensitivity to grant funding indicate a high potential for convergence (“catch-up development effect”) in the higher education system of the Russian Federation. These patterns can improve the effectiveness of management decisions in higher education by focusing on growth points with high sensitivity to grant support.

The paper deals with the problems of contemporary engineering education, which were discussed at the 41st IGIP International Conference on Engineering Pedagogy, and the 15thInternational Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (September 26–28, 2012 inVillach, Austria).It describes the main global and local trends in engineering education development discussed by the conference participants from 63 countries of the world. Special attention is given to global partnerships in engineering education in a number of large world class universities in the United States, Great Britain, Germany and Portugal. Successful projects ofexpress training models for engineering university faculty are analyzed.The paper dwells upon examples and methods of using interactive educational technologies for training future engineers, which were discussed in the reports of Kazan National Research Technological University professors.

The paper describes the activities of the International society for engineering education IGIP and its Russian monitoring committee (RMK). Further on, the paper deals with the activities of the Centers of engineering pedagogy founded under the initiative of RMK IGIP in a number of Russian technical universities for the purpose of providing pedagogical,psychological and vocational training for the university faculty and other categories of students.

The article dwells upon the role of tacit knowledge in education of a scientist by the example of scientific psychology. The author leans on Mikhail Rozov’s social relays theory and formulates an idea of nonHremovability of not-verbalized components in scientific activity. Various examples of tacit knowledge manifestations are analyzed such as writing of scientific papers, operating with the referents of psychological knowledge, experimental studies, usingof collector programs. The paper substantiates the need to create conditions for young scientistsin accessing to real scientific practice and to personal contacts with the prominent scientists.

The paper focuses on the training professionals in the field of natural sciences, engineering and technology, mathematics and IT with different levels of education and qualifications (bachelor, master, doctor) for joint innovation activity in interdisciplinary 3D teams. The paper substantiates the need for such training, which stems from digitalization and introduction of Industry 4.0 tools, as well as the desire to overcome the technological backlog of the country. Based on the analysis of the best world practices of innovation activity, the paper proposes to coordinate programs for training of STEM-IT professionals for effective collaboration in 3D-teams by planning the competencies of graduates, taking into account the priorities of scientists, engineers, technologists, mathematicians and IT specialists when working with the division of labor in a team at various stages of creating science-intensive innovative products, systems, processes, and services. The purpose of the research is to develop recommendations for program coordination.

“Education 4.0” should be consistent with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The reforms of engineering education as its component require new competences of technical university teachers who are responsible for these reforms and as a result, trigger the improvement of further teachers’ professional development programs to train them for that. Such a program is also one of the aims of the project “Effective training model of technical discipline lecturers for the purpose of obtaining “International Educator of Engineering University” certificate – “ING-PAED IGIP”. It is realized by Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI) that was recognized as a Federal Innovative Platform in 2020.The project is aimed at designing an additional program intended to develop technical university teachers’ competences that are, on the one hand, relevant to the needs of Russian higher school, and, on the other hand, correspond to the requirements for applying for the title «ING-PAED IGIP» of the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP). In order to achieve that it is necessary to identify if technical university teachers’ competences that are relevant in Russia correspond the competences determined in IGIP.In order to solve this problem, the authors undertook comparative analysis of the competencies registered in two documents: RF Professional Standard “Pedagogue of professional teaching, professional education and additional professional education” and the Fourth IGIP Prototype Curriculum.The paper specifies the notion of technical university teacher competence for the research, validates the possibility of the two documents comparison, describes the procedure of comparative analysis on the basis of compiling summary tables.The paper also gives the main conclusions of the comparative analysis. It proves that RF Professional Standard covers all the competences required by Fourth IGIP Prototype Curriculum. RF Professional Standard registers teachers’ actions more distinctly, consistently, and with more details. The research revealed the competences relevant for Russian higher education, but not necessary for IGIP. The research also allowed to formulate preliminary recommendations for designing additional teachers’ professional development program in the MADI project.

The paper raises the issue of the relevance of creating generalized syllabi for each enlarged group of majors, when teaching linguistic disciplines of compulsory and optional parts of the curriculum related to the subject area «Foreign Language». The authors show the need for generalized syllabi as being grounded by existing controversies in modern foreign language training. The paper suggests a concept that substantiates the demand for targeted generalized syllabi for this discipline and contains a number of principles, which can help to design their optimal content. The notions of «zones of near and further content and competence integration» are introduced. The content of these zones is revealed, and their role in modelling the key components of generalized syllabi is shown. Integrated foreign language professional communicative competence of an engineering graduate is introduced as a prospective model of foreign language competence. It is regarded as an integrative notion combining traditional components of communicative competence with professional knowledge, skills and experience involved in the process of mastering cross-cultural professional communication. The realization of the concept principles in the content of generalized syllabi aims at the reflection of university graduates’ real foreign language communication needs in their professional activity in learning outcomes in accordance with the FSES HE 3 ++. The authors express certainty that the concept of generalized syllabi will allow to initiate the process of their creation and will become a stimulus to the development of foreign language teaching methodology in a non-linguistics university.

Doctoral supervision is considered one of the key factors in doctoral education performance. High-quality supervision does not merely predict the success of dissertation completion, but also plays a major role in academic community integration and identity development of doctoral students. Publications exploring problems of supervision tend to be based on surveys into mentors’ functions and advisory styles. Currently, research that aims at evaluating supervision efficiency is scarce. In the present article, we derive quantification of advisors’ activity and performance from non-reactive data on academic staff appointed to supervise doctoral students at two research-intensive multidisciplinary universities. The empirical base for the study comprises the data on research supervisors (N=515) and their doctoral students (N=1597). The paper addresses two main questions: (1) how does the number of doctoral students assigned influence a supervisor’s performance; (2) is there a correlation between a level of performance of guided students and their supervisor’s position, academic degree, academic rank and citation metrics and publication productivity. The findings imply that there is a great disparity in distribution of supervisors by number of students and by performance level (number of dissertation defenses), which is found to conform to Pareto – Zipf law. The highest performers prove to be those staff members who supervise from two to five students. That share of staff members scores higher on citation metrics and demonstrates better publication activity. A large portion of this group consists of staff holding academic positions and lecturers who do not attain a Doctor of sciences degree or academic rank. Performance indicators proposed in the article along methods of data collection, processing and analysis could have practical implications for monitoring supervisors’ activity in universities. The results obtained form basis for a number of managerial propositions to enhance supervision performance level.

The paper deals with comparative analys is of international university rankings methodology and a complex of measures for Russian higher education development suggested by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. It is revealed that the “roadmap” for higher education development does not allow predicting improvement of national university ranking in international surveys. Some important directions for Russian university recognition by international educational society are suggested in the paper.

This paper is the first one from the coming soon articles with a description of the results and findings of the project “Tuning of educational structures”. The article highlights the main goals and results of the project “Tuning Russia” conducted in Russia in the period of 2010–2013. Special attention is paid to the basic approaches of the drafting the Reference points of the educational programs in different subject areas. Some findings from the survey of the opinion of academy, alumni, students and employers on the importance and achieved level of the professional competencies in Economics are given. The paper describes several kinds of activities to be done by the Tuning centers were established in 13 Russian universities participated in the project “Tuning Russia”.

The author considers the nature of modern students’ interaction with the digital information environment and demonstrates the need for development of students’ information processing skills. The paper is devoted to education and training of professionals in the IT field in classical universities in the context of the implementation of the Federal Project “Human Resources for the Digital Economy” of the National Program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”. The general approach, goals and content of fundamental education and specialized training of Bachelors, Masters and PhD-holders to complex, innovative and research activities have been determined. The structure of Bachelor, Master and PhD programs of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science of Tomsk State University modernized on the basis of the above approach, is presented. The paper pays special attention to the training of T-Shaped specialists in IT in classical universities, dwells on the fundamental education of IT specialists. The results of the coordination of programs with employers and students are given.

The paper presents the results of the search, systematization and analysis of independent higher education evaluation systems that have been developed in the country in the recent decade. The research has been carried out using standardised evaluation mechanisms that adhere to the criteria of mass scale, openness, and stability. The analysis of the independent evaluation of higher education’s present situation revealed certain inconsistencies between the legislative and regulatory framework and real practice. It should be emphasised that, while different processes have now been developed for this type of evaluation, they still require enhancement. The assessment mechanisms themselves need to undergo an external, independent evaluation to ensure their reliability, integrity, and trustworthy evidence. It has been indicated that independent evaluation procedures have jointly developed into a system: the institution of independent evaluation. This system is characterised by integrity, orderliness, and definite linkages. One may consider the aggregating technology of the aforementioned evalu-ations to be the synergistic outcome of the system’s establishment. In order to achieve a synergistic effect on the evaluation of all higher education institutions and educational programmes in the country, the authors suggest a method for aggregating the outcomes of the described evaluation procedures. The obtained research outcomes prove their applicability to the internal and external evaluation of a higher education institution’s performance and to the strategic planning of the development of both the institution and the higher education system.

The paper presents the results of an empirical analysis of the success factors in university technological entrepreneurial projects, based on a unique empirical dataset created with the support of the project office and the office for promoting the federal project «University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform». The dataset includes a ranking of over 1,000 university projects from 2023, each of which contains information on approximately 35 characteristics, both financial and non-financial. The success indicators selected for analysis are the «final ranking position» and «investment attractiveness of the project». Statistical methods, implemented through Python libraries, were used to examine the relationships between different forms of project support and the aforementioned characteristics. The results highlight the critical role of the university environment in supporting entrepreneurial projects, while also revealing that specific support measures can exhibit varying degrees of association with project success. Two key findings are noteworthy. First, there is no positive correlation between the project’s strong embeddedness in the university environment (e.g., a team assembled within the university or a project initially started as an academic exercise) and the project’s success. Second, among the support measures implemented within the current federal project «University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform», the strongest association with the success of entrepreneurial initiatives is found in participation in startup studios. Considering contemporary discussions on the need to seek new solutions to enhance the educational and life experiences of modern students, bringing them closer to the realities of a dynamically changing labor market, the university startup studio model may serve as a source for developing new models of university organization.

The present paper is devoted to the search for successful experience and analysis of the problems of supporting students’ research work (R&D) and scientific mentoring in Russian universities. The relevance of the topic is due to the need to evaluate approaches to stimulating not only research and development, but also the activities of scientific mentors in terms of the sustainability and effectiveness of the impact of existing support measures on student involvement in science andteachers’ motivation to mentoring activities. Since the interaction of students and scientific mentors, implemented in the unique organizational conditions of each particular university, and a typical all-Russian context, forms an ecosystem, the article focuses on considering measures to support research and scientific mentoring in interrelation. The purpose of the article is to consider measures to support research and scientific mentoring in Russian universities. The results of an empirical study conducted in 2024 using the methods of traditional analysis of documents (normative legal acts on measures to support research and development at the federal, regional and local levels) and a semi-structured interview with scientific mentors from among academic staff of universities (n = 30) are presented. Main results: generalization of measures to support research and development at three levels (federal, regional and local) of higher education management. It is shown that, at the federal level, they are worded extremely broadly, allowing the regions and universities to specify and refine them.The uneven distribution of support measures by region and their emphasis on financial incentives are revealed. It is concluded that each university has a limited number of documents regulating the support of research and mentoring. The contradictions in the attitude of the academic staff to the measures of support for research and scientific mentoring were disclosed. The prospects for the development of a research programme to support research and scientific mentoring in universities are considered.

This work investigates the academic performance of students enrolled in the “Social Elevator” program at Higher School of Economics (HSE University), which operates under the principle of affirmative action and aims to assist those students who have lower chances of admission due to various social reasons in a highly competitive environment. Objective admissions in Russian universities and the high selectivity of the HSE University, discussed in this paper, do not confidently allow the application of conclusions from foreign studies to the Russian experience. The program had not been previously researched. It was assumed that students of the program would show higher performance than their peers admitted on a general basis – this assumption follows from qualitative research that found that students of this program possess a progressive narrative of overcoming inequality. Regression with dummy variables based on administrative data on student performance and survey data on the socio-economic status of students are used for the analysis. According to the regression analysis results, all else being equal, students of the “Social Elevator” program demonstrate lower performance than students admitted on budgetary places on general grounds, although they average grades at the “good” level and therefore have a chance to get a return to education and overcome inequality. Further research on the topic is required to separate the secondary effects of inequality, as well as to assess the actual social mobility of students participating in the program. The results can be useful in designing educational policy in the field of expanding access to higher education.

The article explores the level of involvement of scientific and pedagogical professionals in various social activities for professional development compared to other employee groups. It argues that obtaining additional professional training can be a valuable tool for career growth. The author sees professional development as an integral part of academic growth for scientific and educational workers, along with personal and career development. The findings are based on a combination of theoretical and empirical research conducted by domestic and international scholars, as well as official statistical data and the results of an original sociological study. The study involved a questionnaire survey of scientific and educational professionals (n = 223), as well as other employee groups (n = 833), in the Tyumen and Sverdlovsk regions. As a result, it was found that scientific and pedagogical workers are more likely to engage in professional development activities compared to other categories of the employed population. Continuing professional education programs appear to be the most common form of professional growth. Due to their specialized activities, academic staff tend to develop digital skills more often, while other groups develop personal skills to a greater degree. Based on the level of involvement in professional development, we identified five groups of respondents: “active and engaged”, “achieving the desired level or feeling disappointed”, “questioning or confused”, “recognizing the importance of professional development”, and “rejecting professional development”. The theoretical and empirical findings led to the development of potential strategies to enhance the engagement of scientific and educational professionals in ongoing skill development and acquisition of new competencies. This article is aimed at university management responsible for professional development of academic staff. The findings presented here may have practical implications for the development of personnel strategies at universities with the goal of increasing human capital and professional competence among academic staff, as well as motivating them to engage in continuous learning. The results of this study could be beneficial for participants in the academic community, as well as for specialists involved in developing educational programs and planning the future of universities strategically. The material presented in this paper is relevant not only for academic staff, but also for graduate students who are focused on their continuous professional growth within the academic sector.

The paper proposes an approach to the design of the Service Learning discipline in a medical university, based on a detailed sociological study, a comparative review of the experiences of other countries, and the results of a pilot project at the Privolzhsky Research Medical University (Nizhny Novgorod). The aim of this study is to develop recommendations for the organisational support and content of Service Learning (subject types, target groups, formats), taking into account the medical students’ identified motivation to undertake projects with a volunteering component. The results showed that medical students have a particular motivation to participate in the discipline that is different from that of students of other disciplines (in the study, the control sample consisted of students in the social sciences and humanities): they emphasise the development of professional skills and the improvement of medical knowledge. Medical students choose projects related to direct clinical practice and public health, emphasising their interest in the practical application of knowledge and social responsibility. The main task of the discipline – the formation of civicism, social responsibility, moral values – is organically achieved in the medical students training. On the other hand, the tight schedule and rigid academic discipline in medical university require stability and certainty in the educational process, which is at odds with the project activity logic, that is characterised by flexibility and changeability of the external environment. The search for optimal organisational conditions for the implementation of project activities in a medical university can be the subject of further research on the topic of the publication.

The study deals with the problem of students’ health. Discussing the relevant studies, the author notes that most researchers focus on the role of the educational environment. Considering it, the author underlines that there are other significant factors, which affect students’ health. Because health keeping is a purposeful activity that includes motivational, behavioral, expressive components as well as cognitive one, it is necessary to study the peculiarities of the formation students’ ideas about healthy caring. In addition, it should be taken into account that modern students are digital generation Z, who are famous for their deep involvement into online reality that has a significant impact on the construction of their values and ideas, including those about health. The purpose of the paper is to study the ideas about health keeping among Zet-students and identify the factors of their formation. The theoretical and methodological background includes theories of social constructivism, digitalization of health and mediatization. The empirical data consist of data from the author’s research (methods – survey (online questionnaire)) and those presented in relevant publications. Based on the results, the features of ideas about health keeping and the main factors of their formation were identified. As it has found out, along with traditional ones, this process is increasingly influenced by online resources, which have ambivalent impact. Considering the focus of Generation Z students on healthy life, health value, it is proposed to expand measures within the educational process to form an ideology of healthy lifestyle among modern students.

This study investigates the factors that drive African students to Russia. The number of African students studying in Russia from the 2010/11 to 2022/2023 academic year increased more than fivefold: from 6.7 thousand to 34.4 thousand. The paper was based on an online survey provided to African students between February and November 2023. A sample of 275 African students from 28 countries was used. Findings revealed that the major factors that draw African students to Russia are the quality of education and the quality of life. We compared the quality of education between both genders along with the quality of life. The findings also revealed that females are more interested in the quality of life than males, while males are more interested in the quality of education than females. The findings suggested that policymakers should consider age and previous education as major variables in student migration.

A serious transformation of methods for implementing innovative activities, which is happening today in Russia, is difficult without improvement of the processes for managing project innovation activities of universities. This issue is not widely studied in the scientific community despite its relevance and significance. The purpose of this work is to study the theoretical foundations of project innovation activities of universities in the Russian Federation, as well as to analyze the demand for project innovation activities of domestic universities. The work presents a map of concepts in the innovation sphere, which depicts the relationship between such concepts as: innovation, project, innovation activity, project activity, innovation infrastructure, design-innovation activity, innovative developments and innovative project. The paper examines key problems and trends in project innovation activities of universities in the Russian Federation, as well as the factors without which successful implementation of this activity can’t be possible. Owing to the current study, it is obvious that the development of a new approach to innovation activities project management in universities is required, taking into account current trends in the country’s socio-economic development and the geopolitical situation.

Immersive technologies (ImT) are becoming more and more widespread in the R&D sector and more often in the academic agenda of higher education. The paper provides a systematic overview of the educational practices of Russian universities in the use of ImT in teaching. The study focuses on the institutional and didactic aspects of the ImT in Russian higher education. We interviewed representatives of Russian universities (N=16). The study presents the role of immersive educational technologies in the structure of an academic course and outlines the prospects for their further application. The cases of Russian universities evidence that immersive educational technologies are slowly finding their niche in higher and postgraduate education as a learning tool. Providing immersion of students in the real conditions of professional skills application, immersive educational products are designed to practice the algorithms of operations in standard and non-standard situations of their (future) occupations individually. Without changing the didactic structure of the academic course, immersive educational products occupy a place between the theoretical part and training practice. The authors conclude that immersive educational products have a great potential for development in terms of the visualization quality of educational material, integration of multimodal mode for group work, improvement of assessment scales and соnsideration of learning analytics. Given a range of positive effects (motivational, psychological, topological, developmental), the future of ImT in higher education depends on the legal regulation of their use in education, their availability to higher education institutions and the motivation of university teachers.

The authors of the present paper conducted a comprehensive analysis of university place in the ecosystem of adult education, based on its characteristic functions, priorities of activity and emerging tensions. The participation of universities in the professional training of adults is analyzed. The research focus is projected on the assessment of the situation at the institutional (a university as a social institution) and organizational level (a university as a specific institution of higher education). A discussion of the prospects for transforming the place of higher institution in the ecosystem of adult education is presented. The study was conducted using a semiformalized interview method (n=36) with representatives of the commercial and public sector occupying key positions (heads and top management of universities, corporate universities, educational consulting organizations, providers of non-formal education services, etc.). Main results. Several points of university positioning in the structure of adult education ecosystem are identified: 1) the university is the core of the educational ecosystem and holds this status; 2) the university occupies the central place of the educational ecosystem, but can lose this status by certain actions or inaction; 3) the university is not the core of the educational ecosystem and should not be; 4) the university is not the core of the educational ecosystem, but could become it. According to most experts, universities occupy a central place in the ecosystem of adult education and have a high potential to retain leadership positions, provided that the educational material is relevant and meets the demands of the labor market. At the same time, it is important to consider that some participants of the educational ecosystem (online platforms, corporate universities and others) are rapidly increasing their influence and implementing large-scale educational programs for the population. Universities, having a high level of public trust and being mainly responsible for fundamental professional education, are interested in accumulating the advantages of other participants of the educational ecosystem. It is optimal to present the university as a central hub of educational practices for the population, accumulating the advantages of other actors of the adult education ecosystem. The article is addressed to administrative and managerial staff of universities, representatives of executive authorities and the real sector of the economy, scientific and pedagogical staff and graduate students seeking to study lifelong learning of adults.

The breakneck expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in recent years has attracted the attention of higher education researchers. However, their curiosity often comes down to using specific AI tools, such as text and image generators, translators, and personal assistants in the educational process. This paper considers a broader question: what fundamental problems and challenges does the penetration of AI technologies into human lives originate for higher education? The authors offer a working definition of what it means to give/receive higher education in the age of AI. This definition identifies five critical characteristics of higher education: 1) the professor and the student continue to be in a subject-subject relationship and learn from each other; 2) higher education should prepare for life in conditions of “human-machine” interdependence; 3) these conditions imply choice in situations of uncertainty; 4) the spread of AI technologies brings enormous opportunities and 5) almost unpredictable dangers, risks and threats to humans. The authors consider general principles and specific problems associated with entering AI tools into society and higher education. They discuss the inevitability of the evolvement of “machine-machine interdependence” related to the development of autonomous agents. In conclusion, several theses and counter-theses summarize the article’s argumentation.

The problem of forming and developing soft skills has not lost its relevance for many years. It is believed that possession of these skills ensures the subject’s competitiveness in the labor market. A special role is played by the formation of flexible skills in entrepreneurs, who allow them to be more adaptive to changes, interact effectively with the internal and external environment, find non-standard solutions in difficult situations, thereby increasing the efficiency and competitiveness of their own business.The purpose of our research is to compile a rating of soft skills in the assessment of existing entrepreneurs and to identify the degree of participation of higher education institutions in their formation. The data are obtained empirically from a study of 360 entrepreneurs. They show the undeniable importance for entrepreneurs of developing soft skills and, in most cases, their underdevelopment at the proper level. The paper presents the results of a survey demonstrating the proportion of entrepreneurs who have developed a particular skill in the process of self-education (19-38%), as well as the proportion of entrepreneurs who received an education at a university (0-22%) or in additional education programs in other organizations ( 1-13%). The study found that between 33 and 73% of entrepreneurs surveyed had not received soft skills training. Entrepreneurs ranked communication management (opinion of 76% of respondents) and decision making (73%) as the most important skills for their activities; the most developed were decision making (30%) and customer focus (28%). The work provides recommendations to universities in terms of increasing their presence in the market of additional education in order to develop soft skills among entrepreneurs as a factor in increasing their competitiveness.

Everyday, artificial intelligence (AI) is being increasingly integrated into the teaching and learning process at Russian universities. The high level of quality of feedback from AI tools leads to the spread of AI plagiarism – unauthorized borrowing of generative AI materials – among students. The purpose of this study is to: a) highlight aspects that determine students’ understanding of the issues of compliance with author’s ethics and the problem of plagiarism when interacting with generative AI; b) develop a questionnaire to determine students’ understanding of the issues of compliance with author’s ethics and the problem of AI plagiarism; c) conduct an online survey of university students, analyze and discuss the results obtained. The paper highlights five aspects that determine students’ understanding of the issues of compliance with author’s ethics and the problem of AI plagiarism when completing educational assignments and preparing research texts: a) students’ general understanding of the issues of compliance with author’s ethics and the problem of plagiarism in an academic environment; b) students’ experience of AI tools for educational purposes; c) students’ understanding of the problem of AI plagiarism and attitude towards borrowing materials from generative AI; d) teachers’ actions to prevent AI plagiarism among students; e) the policy of educational organizations regarding student compliance with ethics and AI plagiarism. An online questionnaire was developed to determine the degree to which students understand the issues of compliance with copyright ethics and the problem of AI plagiarism. 1,599 students from 29 universities of the Russian Federation took part in the survey. The results showed that in general, in the Russian student community, plagiarism is a widespread social phenomenon, many types of which are perceived by young people as a norm of academic behavior. Despite the relatively high awareness of students in the field of AI technologies, the extremely rare use by teachers of specialized subject disciplines of AI tools in the educational process I’d the reason for the current low level of spread of AI plagiarism in the academic environment. At the same time, it is necessary to state that students lack a systematic understanding of exactly how they can “legally” use generative AI materials and what exactly will be considered AI plagiarism. According to students, the importance of understanding the issues of compliance with author ethics and the problem of AI plagiarism will depend, on the one hand, on the actions of teachers to explain to students the rules for using generative AI materials, and on the other hand, the presence in universities of a regulatory framework regulating the field and the extent to which students use AI in the educational process.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way learning is organized around the world. Russian universities have also been faced with the need to quickly transfer all teaching to an online format. The importance of student satisfaction with the education quality in online learning is increasing, since it is an important condition for motivation. The paper shows that based on the analysis of students’ messages in the social network, it is possible to observe and analyze the overall dynamics and trends in student community satisfaction with the quality of the learning / the efficiency of universities and conduct a comparative analysis of the identified characteristic data groups with their totality. It is shown that the data on the reaction of students of a particular university may have significant deviations from the totality of data, which reflects the characteristics of the reaction of students of a particular university to events occurring at the same time. This may indicate the internal differences of the university, which form an appropriate response to external events.To understand the satisfaction of students in the transition to a new implementation format of the learning. The digital traces of students from the social network VKontakte were analyzed using individual Big Data tools on the PolyAnalyst software platform. This made it possible to trace changes in the mood of students and, on the example of a single university, to identify and explain deviations in the attitude of students to the implementation of the learning, as well as to verify the methodology. The methodology developed by authors makes it possible to detect problematic issues in the university, including the moment of their occurrence, relevance, degree of concern of students. Such content analysis can be used not only to assess students’ satisfaction with the quality of the learning, but also to monitor the emergence of any problems that cause concern and strong reactions on the part of the student community, as well as other communities and individual groups.

The involvement of parents in the education of their children-students is a growing trend, linked to later socialisation. However, the question of how parents demonstrate their involvement at the university level is not well researched. This paper aims to identify the types of parental involvement in the education of university students and describe their distinctive features. The article presents the results of an empirical study on parental involvement in the educational process of university students. Based on cluster analysis of survey data from first-year students at nine Russian universities across different regions of the country (N = 5012), three types of parental involvement were identified: ‘restless’, ‘liberal’, and ‘passive’. ‘Restless’ parents are characterised by a higher level of control, monitoring academic performance and attendance. Parents who are considered ‘liberal’ tend to give their children more autonomy and take an active interest in their achievements and problems at university. On the other hand, ‘passive’ parents are not involved in the educational process at university. The study analysed the types of parental involvement based on family characteristics, experience of school graduation, and university enrolment.

The characteristics of the university that issued the higher education diploma are an important signal for the employer, indicating the quality of the graduate’s training. However, it remains unknown to what extent top Russian universities really differ in the quality of the educational process from other universities, and do not simply use their ability to admit the most talented and motivated students. This paper attempts to answer this question using student engagement indicators, which are considered worldwide as a valid tool for assessing the quality of higher education. The article aims to examine the relationship between student engagement and two institutional characteristics of universities (a special status and the size of the university) by employing survey data on 16,143 students studying at 401 Russian universities. The results demonstrate that students studying at federal, national research and flagship universities have comparatively lower class engagement and social engagement compared to students from universities without special status. In addition, students at institutions with a size between 1,000 and 3,500 students were the most engaged in class activities and, at the same time, disengaged, while a size of less than 1,000 students was negatively associated with disengagement. The results obtained, on the one hand, require further research into the relationship between institutional characteristics and student engagement. On the other hand, they indicate the need to increase the weight of indicators of the quality of the educational process in universities in government excellence initiatives aimed at identifying leading universities and supporting them, as well as the importance of developing valid indicators of the quality of the educational process that can be used as a criterion in such government competitions.

At present, according to Presidential Address to the Federal Assembly our country has set the task of reforming higher education based on the synthesis of the best practices of the Soviet educational system and the experience of recent decades. This increases the responsibility of technical university teachers, whose competencies have been determined in recent years on the basis of different scientific approaches. In this regard, the problem of identifying the teachers’ qualities that are significant for students is becoming especially relevant.In order to solve the problem, the research of students’ essays obtained as a result of the International Essay Contest in English “My University Engineering Teacher I will Never Forget” was undertaken. The contest was organized by Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University (MADI) in 2021-22. The hypothesis of the research suggested that the personality traits of the technical university teacher are valued by students not lower than their professional competencies.In order to achieve the goal and verify the hypothesis, four tasks were set and solved during the research: the students’ opinions on the role of the teacher were revealed; the professional competencies of the teacher that are significant for students were determined; the personality traits of the teacher that are significant for students were determined; the significance of the teacher’s professional competencies and personality traits for students was compared. The research methodology provided for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the students’ essays including their content analysis.The paper describes the main results of the research, which confirmed the hypothesis, as well as their interpretation. The interpretation of the research results allowed us to draw general conclusions concerning reforming the modern system of engineering education. The main conclusion concerns the necessity of returning engineering education to the traditional for the Soviet higher school integration of education and upbringing and the significance of developing in the educational process not only the competencies relevant for employers, but also the personality of future specialists.

The relevance of the study is due to the contradiction between the objective need for developing the academic motivation of Master students by means of research-oriented education and the insufficient development of the corresponding didactic conditions. The purpose of this paper is to identify the research-based learning potential in the development of Master students academic motivation and reasoning the didactic conditions promoting its effective implementation. In order to achieve it, the following tasks were solved: to reveal the essence of academic motivation and its features among Master’s students studying “Pedagogical science”; to promote theoretically and experimentally the didactic conditions for the effective implementation of the motivational potential of research-oriented learning. To identify the features of academic motivation, the methodology “Scale of Academic Motivation” was used.Research results: the essence of academic motivation as a set of motives that are the reason for the conscious inclusion of a student in educational activities is revealed; the features of the academic motivation of Master students studying Pedagogical science were revealed (the conscious choice of the program of training by the vast majority of students; different students’ background – previous education, work experience, age, that determines the polymotivation of educational activity with the dominance of internal motivation). It is shown that the motivational potential of researchoriented teaching of students is associated with its main characteristics: the purpose, content, nature of studying and research activities, features of results evaluation. Didactic conditions were experimentally promoted that enhance the motivational potential of research-oriented learning (taking into account the characteristics and levels of development of the corresponding types of students’ motivation; creating real opportunities for free choice of research topics for Master students; using work in pairs as a form of organizing educational and research activities; using a complex of stimulating methods for evaluating the study results). Perspective paths for study of the students’ academic motivation are indicated.

Psychological well-being of students is becoming one of the priorities of higher education today. This paper is devoted to the study of the work experience of psychological services in Russian universities. The results are based on the data of semi-structured interviews with 15 heads of psychological services of Russian universities. The interview data show that the main directions of the services’ work are following: counseling, preventive-educational measures, diagnostic, adaptation, and nurturing. In turn, during the pandemic the services adapted their activities by transitioning to the online format and creating of hotlines for emergency psychological help. At the same time, psychological services face such problems as lack of funding, difficulties in building interaction with psychiatric organizations, conflict of interests between university management and the service management in their activities. Nevertheless, the main trend for the psychological services development is to build a system of psychological support involving different levels of university hierarchy. The results of the study can be used to design a model of university psychological services, as well as to make practical decisions about the development of the psychological services network in Russian universities.

This paper presents a scientifically based approach to analyzing large volumes of data from digital traces of students on social networks, which allows you to effectively identify emerging and most discussed problems among students, as well as highlight pain points that provide opportunities for growth, development of universities and improvement of the characteristics of the educational process, support for students etc. The study is based on a thematic analysis of messages published in university communities on the VKontakte social network using big data tools. The study results showed that Russian university students still face a number of challenges, including weak technical infrastructure at universities, a digital divide in access to online education, and negative attitudes towards distance learning.The scientific problem of the study is the contradiction between the existing volume of unstructured data of students’ digital traces in social networks and the lack of a scientifically-based and proven methodological approach to the analysis and evaluation of this voluminous data, which creates obstacles to fundamental research into the relationship between students’ activity in social networks and their satisfaction quality of the educational process. The practical focus is determined in conducting data analysis using big data tools. The findings and evidence-based implications are useful for developing innovative strategies and tools for assessing and supporting students.The results show that the use of big data tools for tracking trends based on digital traces of students on social networks provides highly accurate analytical data and can become the basis for identifying problematic situations in individual universities and the industry as a whole, for data-driven decision-making and management .

The present study focuses on data from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF). The authors analyze the effect of using quantitative indicators in grant allocation by using the natural experiment with the increasing publication threshold for principal investigators between two waves of grant selections in 2014 and 2017. The authors selected the relatively new RSF as our case study due to its policy to establish a publication threshold for grants’ principal investigators. The policy change provides the authors with the opportunity to study whether reliance on bibliometric indicators brings better results in the project evaluation process. This analysis included two groups of researchers: 1) physicists and 2) social sciences and humanities scholars. Scopus was sourced to collect bibliographic data, while the foundation’s website was used to check data on the funded projects. The following questions are explored in detail: whether the policy affected the distribution of funds to researchers with a better publication record, the strategies of increasing publications by individual researchers, and the differences, if any, in policy effects between disciplines. The authors found that the selection among physicists in the first wave was already effective as the grant recipients are prolific authors who publish many highly cited papers before 2014. In addition, the results indicated that the group of research leaders in physics did not significantly change between the two selected waves of competitions (from 2014 to 2017). Although social scientists demonstrated a relatively weak ability to publish internationally, the increase in scientometric expectations has improved the publication record regarding the quantity and quality of publications.

The purpose of this paper is to design a psychological-pedagogical construct of the implementation of information technologies in the process of teaching students for developing their personal potential. The rapid digitalization of higher education has caused the need to ensure the didactically correct information-communicative technology (ICT) introduction in education, which must organically comply with the structure and logic of the learning process, as well as the task of personal development. Solving these tasks, the authors propose not direct, but mediated use of different ICTs through the development of a system of various educational communications that are built and supported by the teacher. This is the novelty of the study and its dissimilarity to most of the current projects of forced, technocratic digitalization of students study, which do not sufficiently take into account the laws and principles of a holistic educational process and the becoming of personality in it.Based on psychological and didactic approaches and methods, the authors reconstruct the pedagogically controlled process of ICT introducing into education through the implementation by the teacher of interrelated mechanisms – environment-forming and trigger mechanisms. The environment-forming mechanism unfolds the logic of the phased introduction of ICT – from the principles of their use through the construction of educational communications to the methods for activating of students personal potential in the form of trigger mechanisms. These activators are modes for the practical inclusion of ICT in education and are set by the mechanism for personalizing educational communications. Assuming the attunement of ICT to the personality of the student, this mechanism brings the teacher to the fore in the process of digitalization of learning. Being the initiator and organizer of educational communications, the teacher can adequately and fully ensure this attunement and targeting of ICT use by implementing a set of conjugated mechanisms: responsive, polycontact, contemporal, meaning-centric, project-constructing, cultural-mediating, consolidating, inclusive, comparative and the mechanism of problematization.Approbation of the proposed mechanisms in the practice of online-learning has shown their sufficient effectiveness, students have an increase in indicators of self-realization and self-regulation, as well as the significance of values of self-development in education.

Abstract. This article examines the role of Russian universities in emerging and further developing Arctic science diplomacy (ASD). According to authors, in the current geopolitical conditions Russian universities are significant ASD actors which perform a number of important functions for the organization of international scientific cooperation with foreign countries and making a positive image of Russia in the world. The paper uses a systemic approach to identify Russian universities’ contribution to the ASD development through various mechanisms: joint research projects and publications with foreign partners, the organization of international events on the Arctic issues and participation in prestigious international conferences on the Arctic research area, joint polar expeditions (land and maritime), and participation of Russian scientists in international Arctic scientific organizations, etc. The university ASD is exemplified by the Russian leading universities – St. Petersburg State University, Moscow State University, Northern (Arctic) Federal University, etc. The study demonstrated that maintaining a dialogue on an ongoing basis within the framework of research and educational activities of universities can contribute to the systematic establishment of cooperation in other areas of international relations, the search for innovative solutions for the benefit of the development of the entire Arctic region.

The concept of “blended learning” has been widely discussed in Russian higher education. However, there are different interpretations of the concept and its status is not completely clear in the Russian regulatory environment. Although the effectiveness of this mode of education has been repeatedly recognised, systematic measures for the introduction of blended learning by universities are not being implemented. One of the factors for the success of such an implementation is the high-quality instructional design for blended learning. Difficulties in instructional design use can lead to the abandonment of blended learning or the adoption of less efficient practices. This paper explores the challenges faced by representatives of Russian universities involved in designing and teaching courses in a blended mode during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used in the study is an online survey which was conducted in 2020-2021. The respondents were participants in the professional development program “School of Instructional Design for Blended Learning”. The results of the study showed that the respondents’ professional deficits in the design of blended courses were associated with the development of new ways of designing and teaching, growth of the course quality and student-centeredness, and more efficient allocation of time resources and use of online tools. The development stage, which involves the creation or updating of digital learning resources, turned out to be the most challenging for designing. Most respondents used LMS but were not satisfied with the quality of its application; also, the majority faced the problem of retaining student engagement in blended learning. The respondents would like to improve their formative and summative assessment practices and strengthen the course quality assessment practices. Commitment to overcome the identified difficulties can contribute to the creation of more effective practice-oriented professional development programs on teaching the blended learning design for educators, instructional designers and academic advisors in Russian higher education, leading to an increase in its quality.

The purpose of this paper is to explore perceptions of theoretical foundations of nonviolence theory by modern students and their willingness to apply ideas of nonviolence to everyday life. The study problem lies in the fact that, in general, the scantily explored phenomenon of nonviolence is mostly studied in the context of philosophical and ethical understanding, ideology, and politics. While the values of nonviolence individual understanding, their local application in everyday life is still remain unexplored. Research design: focus group methodology. In this study, the focus group method was used as the main one for data collection, as it gives participants the opportunity to explore the topic in a focused discussion. Also, a phenomenological or «lived experience» approach was used since it would allow an exploration and understanding of the opinions of student. The focus group topic template included two parts, in the first part the participants discuss and interpret the ideas about the theoretical foundations of the concept of nonviolence, in the second part the focus group members share their own experiences and discussed the possibility of implementing the ideas of the nonviolence concepts in everyday life. The focus group discussions were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim with the permission of the participants. When notes were summarized and analyzed, which allowed researchers to identify five key topics to draw conclusions about the place and role of violence and nonviolence in students’ daily lives. The article shows that the focus group participants mostly share the conceptual ideas of the nonviolence theories, but allow situations in which the use of force is necessary. The conclusions from this article can be used in further research aimed at studying the forms and strategies of conflict resolution in the daily life of youth.

The article’s goal is to eliminate the contradiction between the need for university activities to support and develop technological entrepreneurship and the lack of a sequence of steps leading to the achievement of the desired result. This contradiction is proposed to be resolved by identifying the position of the university in the infrastructure supporting technological entrepreneurship.The paper highlights three main infrastructural positions of the university, called “Supplier of Talents”, “Platform of Academic Technological Entrepreneurship” and “Technological Entrepreneurial Hub”. The first focuses on the development of creative thinking of students seeking to develop high-tech products and support their entrepreneurial intentions. The second focuses on the achievements of university researchers, based on which promising high-tech start-ups are launched and profitable small innovative enterprises are developed. The third relies on mediation and facilitation to coordinate communications between key parties for promoting high-tech business. In this position, the university is an access point to the main success factors of a technological entrepreneurial project. It is more than others capable of stimulating the economic development of the region.One university can hold several positions. Each of the listed positions is endowed with functional characteristics corresponding to their purpose and performs the tasks assigned to them. Starting from an infrastructural position close to the university, it becomes possible to clearly define the criteria that the university needs to have to effectively fulfill these tasks. And the presence of criteria makes it possible to identify dominant problems, adapt university resources, and bring social practices and educational technologies into line.
