We live in an age of insecurity. The Global Financial Crisis, the Covid-19 pandemic, the wars in Ukraine and Gaza and the climate crisis are just the most evident examples of shocks that have increased the level of insecurity among elites and citizens in recent years. And yet there is ample evidence that insecurity is not equally distributed across populations.Bringing together disciplines such as political science, criminology, sociology, and anthropology and combining quantitative and qualitative studies from a wide range of rich and middle-income countries, this collection presents a new framework for exploring the two key social challenges of our times – insecurity and inequality – together. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 18th International Joint Conference on Theoretical Computer Science-Frontier of Algorithmic Wisdom (IJTCS-FAW 2024), consisting of the 18th International Conference on Frontier of Algorithmic Wisdom (FAW) and the 5th International Joint Conference on Theoretical Computer Science (IJTCS), held in Hong Kong, SAR, China, during July 29-31, 2024. FAW started as the Frontiers of Algorithmic Workshop in 2007 at Lanzhou, China, and was held annually from 2007 to 2021 and published archival proceedings. IJTCS, the International joint theoretical Computer Science Conference, started in 2020, aimed to bring in presentations covering active topics in selected tracks in theoretical computer science. To accommodate the diversified new research directions in theoretical computer science, FAW and IJTCS joined their forces together to organize an event for information exchange of new findings and work of enduring value in the field. The 20 full papers and 3 short papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 43 submissions. They focused tracks on algorithms, blockchain theory, computational economics and algorithmic game theory.

This book analyses the changes of welfare states, examining their sustainability enabled by innovative adaptations. On the basis of evolutionary social sciences, the authors understand the welfare states as complex adaptive systems, in which the actors'perceptions, strategies and behaviours change in adaptive manners, which results in institutional changes. From this perspective, the dynamics of Nordic welfare states, mainly Finland as the Nordic welfare state under the greatest pressure to adapt, is analysed from the multiple perspectives of history, politics, economics and social policy. Through these analyses, the authors show that the long-term changes in welfare states can be creative evolutionary processes in which the experiences, cognitive frameworks, resources and capacities of different actors allow for diverse responses and, as a result of interaction, diverse outcomes. Nach der Erfassung des Ist-Zustandes eines Bestandsbauwerks kann dieser in einer BIM-Umgebung implementiert und interoperabel mit Regelwerken sowie Softwares für Punktwolkenauswertungen und Bayes'sche Statistik verknüpft werden. BIM-basierte Schädigungsmodelle können mathematische Zusammenhänge und Einflussgrößen automatisiert anpassen bzw. berücksichtigen, sodass sich neue Möglichkeiten bei der Modellierung von dauerhaftigkeitsrelevanten Prozessen für kombinierte Einwirkungen oder variable Randbedingungen und Bauteilzustände ergeben. Auf diese Weise wird ein prädiktives BIM-Modell erstellt, das als vierdimensionales Entscheidungsunter-stützungssystem bei der Instandhaltung dienen kann. Durch die Implementierung von Daten der Bauwerksdiagnose kann ein BIM-Modell als digitales Bauwerksbuch genutzt werden. Informationen können somit zentral in digitaler Form gesammelt werden und schnittstellenoffen erhalten bleiben. Die Automatisierung der Datenauswertung im räumlichen Kontext ermöglicht neue Betrachtungen und Analysen von größeren Datensätzen oder Korrelationen zwischen den unterschiedlichen Messgrößen. Die modellzentrierte Arbeitsweise in einer BIM-Umgebung ermöglicht die bauteilspezifische Analyse und Gegenüberstellung von ermittelten Ist-Zuständen mit Randbedingungen und Anforderungen gemäß aktueller Regelwerke. Dies erlaubt die Verlagerung des Arbeitsschwerpunktes von Datenverwaltung zu Datenauswertung und -darstellung sowie signifikante Einsparungen beim Handlungsbedarf und trägt somit zur Ressourcenschonung bei. Digitalisierte Arbeitsweisen führen zu Transparenz, Objektivität und Effizienz bei der Instandsetzungsplanung. Infolgedessen wird BIM für die Nutzung im Rahmen der Bauwerkserhaltung erschlossen.

The role of library and information sciences (LIS) in, for, and about Arctic and Northern studies is underexplored. This book examines the intersection of LIS and Arctic/Northern scholarship, research, and study by considering the Arctic and North as a global information-knowledge society; demonstrates practical and applied ways that librarians, archivists, curators, and other information scholars and professionals can participate and have participated in real activities within Arctic and Northern environments; explains how LIS – as a discipline focused on data, information, and knowledge – has a significant role to play in Arctic and Northern endeavours; and emphasises the inter-/multi- disciplinary nature of what are Arctic studies and Northern studies and the placement of LIS into that structure. Bisherige Untersuchungen zum Ermüdungsverhalten des Verbundes wurden fast ausschließlich an normal-festen Betonen mit bis zu 106 Lastzyklen durchgeführt. Das vorliegende Heft befasst sich mit den Arbeiten zur Ermüdung des Verbundes im hochzyklischen Bereich bis 107 Lastzyklen, welche Teil des Gesamtvorha-bens WinConFat waren. Untersuchungsgegenstand waren ein normal- und zwei hochfeste Betone mit einer mittleren Druckfestigkeit bis 120 N/mm sowie Betonstahl B500B. Die Versuche wurden an Auszugs- und Balkenendprobekörpern durchgeführt. Im ersten Kapitel wird, nach einer kurzen Einführung, der Wissens-stand zum Verbundverhalten von normal- und hochfesten Betonen unter statischer und zyklischer Belastung beschrieben. Der zweite Teil umfasst die Untersuchungen des Verbundes unter monotoner und wiederholter Druckbeanspruchung der RWTH Aachen University. Neben Versuchen mit Balkenendproben und unter-schiedlichen zyklischen Lastszenarien wird zudem der Einfluss des Spitzendrucks bei einbetoniertem Sta-bende betrachtet. Darüber hinaus wird ein anhand der gewonnenen Ergebnisse entwickeltes numerisches Verbundermüdungsmodell vorgestellt. Kapitel 3 widmet sich den Arbeiten der Technischen Universität Dres-den zum Verbundverhalten unter statischer und zyklischer Zugbeanspruchung. Dabei wird verstärkt auf den Einfluss der Betonfestigkeit und des Probekörpers eingegangen. Zudem werden Versuchsergebnisse mit unterschiedlichen Belastungsfrequenzen sowie der Resttragfähigkeit nach zyklischer Belastung vorgestellt und diskutiert. Abschließend folgt eine Zusammenfassung der Untersuchungen sowie Angaben zu weiterfüh-render Literatur und Anlagen.

This proposed book aims to present an analysis of several crisis issues induced by global climate changes and implications at the micro-level, particularly from the perspective of ground-based study. Climate crisis leads to several socio-ecological issues which need to discuss with some empirical case studies from the contextual global evidences. Climatic crisis generates several social responses which are associated with mitigating issues in addition to sustainable development goals. Under these circumstances, several loopholes interlinked with climatic crisis need to expose in the present-day context. This book argues that it is important to understand the issues from multiple dimensions. It identifies some important dimensions to discuss in the process.
