This book seeks to identify and to examine factors and mechanisms underlying the growth and development of smart cities.It is commonplace to discuss smart cities through the lens of advances in ICT. The resulting overemphasis on what is technologically possible downplays what is politically, socially and economically feasible. This book, by analysing the smart city through a variety of perspectives, offers a more comprehensive insight into and understanding of the complex and the open-ended nature of the growth and development of a smart city. A solid conceptual framework is developed and employed throughout the chapters, and a selection of case studies from Europe, Asia, and the Arab Peninsula grants the readers a hands-on perspective of the matters discussed.The chapters included in this book address a set of questions, including: How do the twin-processes of digitalization and smartification unfold in the context of the smart city agenda? Der deutsche »Berufsverbrecher« Otto Küsel, der im Mai 1940 als Häftling Nr. 2 nach Auschwitz kam, hat als Funktionshäftling Hunderten von polnischen Häftlingen das Leben gerettet, indem er sie vor der »Vernichtung durch Arbeit« bewahrte. 1942 gelang Küsel eine der spektakulärsten Fluchten aus Auschwitz. Neun Monate lebte er im Untergrund; der spätere polnische Außenminister und Friedenspreisträger des deutschen Buchhandels, Władysław Bartoszewski, wollte ihm in dieser Zeit gefälschte Papiere besorgen. Erneut verhaftet, überlebte Küsel Folter und den Todesmarsch. Nach dem Krieg wurde ihm die polnische Staatsbürgerschaft ehrenhalber angeboten. Im ersten Auschwitz-Prozess in Frankfurt am Main hat er als Zeuge ausgesagt. In Polen ist Otto Küsel ein Held, in Deutschland bis heute so gut wie unbekannt. Digitalisation and environmental sustainability are two of the megatrends impacting industry and society. The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has become an effective tool with significant implications for industrialisation and Market Research (MR), especially in the field of green production. Green IIoT (GRIIoT) can be used to implement Green Production (GP) goals for the environment. The purpose of this study is to examine the drivers behind the adoption of GIIoT, MR, and industrialization decision-making, as well as the effects these drivers have on industrialization performance (IP). A structured questionnaire was used to gather information in order to evaluate the suggested study paradigm. The results indicate that institutional isomorphism influences the acceptance of GRIIoT in a favorable way. Furthermore, Green innovation (GI) activities that result in IP are favorably correlated with GIIoT. The potential effects of the various institutional isomorphisms discussed in this study can aid organizations in better understanding the responsibilities to protect and satisfying stakeholders, particularly as the adopt GIIoT to handle production problems and possible accordance pressures in the process.

There are approximately 1.4 million trans-identified individuals in the US alone, many of whom will undergo gender-affirming medical or surgical interventions to better align their appearance with their gender identity. Multiple major medical societies recommend fertility preservation counseling prior to starting any gender-affirming therapies, but data are limited on the reproductive effects of common gender-affirming hormone regimens. The burden of fertility counseling falls to the hormone providers and surgeons that are encountering these patients, many of whom will not have had adequate training or resources to provide evidence-based recommendations and options. Additionally, many reproductive health care providers are not trained in how to care for gender minorities.The purpose of this book is to be a reference for clinicians and researchers in the field of transgender medicine, to provide up-to-date data and resources to properly counsel transgender and nonbinary patients about the reproductive consequences of gender-affirming interventions and their options for family-building, and to educate providers about appropriate and culturally competent reproductive health care.
