El propósito de este libro es presentar una muestra de recursos, experiencias y prácticas innovadoras en Educación Infantil y Primaria, que puedan resultar de interés para el conjunto de los miembros de la comunidad educativa. Igualmente, el libro ofrece algunos estudios que han estado centrados en el análisis de algunas experiencias ofreciendo visiones de lo que ha sucedido en la escuela en el momento que se han desarrollado. Hemos procurado recoger experiencias llevadas a cabo en los últimos años y que pongan de relieve las posibilidades educativas que proporciona la Educación Física en la escuela, desde el aprendizaje de procedimientos y estrategias, la socialización, la resolución de conflictos y el fomento de la autonomía y la toma de decisiones, que pueden ser excelentes recursos para estimular los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje. En la consideración de las propuestas, prestamos especial atención en atender aquellas que consideran las nuevas demandas del profesorado y alumnado que exigen el desarrollo de competencias digitales, creativas e innovadoras. Los criterios adoptados para la selección de las experiencias e investigaciones han sido fundamentalmente su grado de significatividad y ha sido prioritario para nosotros la consideración de propuestas que pudiesen ser transferidas a diferentes contextos y realidades. Conviene destacar que, en la medida de lo posible, las experiencias fueran relatadas por los propios protagonistas de las experiencias. Por todo lo anterior ofrecemos un conjunto de recursos, propuestas y experiencias docentes ubicadas en las etapas educativas de Educación Infantil y Primaria.

Solsticio de invierno del año 2001: en un paraje deshabitado de La Pampa, una multitud contempla la restitución del cráneo del cacique Mariano Rosas a su antigua morada, tras haber sido exhibido durante un siglo en el Museo de Ciencias Naturales de La Plata. Con posterioridad a la conquista de sus territorios y la destrucción de su modo de vida, los ranqueles sobrevivieron a costa de acriollarse en colonias, escuelas, puestos rurales y pueblos y ciudades de La Pampa. Comenzaron a desaparecer sin nunca irse del todo. Se volvieron Indios fantasmas, siempre solicitados como restos y ruinas del pasado. Hoy en día, los ranqueles transitan los sinuosos y estrechos senderos del retorno, reconstruyendo memorias, saberes y subjetividades en busca del reconocimiento a su existencia e identidad propia. ¿Cómo fue posible dejar de ser ranquel en el pasado?, ¿cómo es posible volver a serlo? Esta obra histórica y etnográfica describe, analiza e interpreta los peligros, dudas y esperanzas que hoy viven los ranqueles en sus proyectos de organización política, de reconstrucción comunitaria y de revitalización cultural.

Mexican cinema has largely been overlooked by international film scholars because of a lack of English-language information and the fact that Spanish-language information was difficult to find and often out of date. This comprehensive filmography helps fill the need. Arranged by year of release and then by title, the filmography contains entries that include basic information (film and translated title, production company, genre, director, cast), a plot summary, and additional information about the film. Inclusion criteria: a film must be a Mexican production or co-production, feature length (one hour or more, silent films excepted), fictional (documentaries and compilation films are not included unless the topic relates to ­Mexican cinema; some docudramas and films with recreated or staged scenes are included), and theatrically released or intended for theatrical release.

A critical and cutting-edge examination of modern prison labor The United States is home to the most expansive prison system on Earth. In addition to holding nearly a quarter of the world's legal captives, this nation puts them to work. Close to two-thirds of those held in U.S. state prisons hold some sort of job while incarcerated. For these imprisoned people, the carceral institution is not only a place of punishment, but a workplace as well. Yet, very little is known about the world of work behind bars. In order to illuminate the'black box'that is modern prison labor, this book marshals 18 months of ethnographic observations within one of America's medium-security prisons as well as 82 interviews with currently-incarcerated men and the institutional staff members tasked with overseeing them. Pulling together these accounts, it paints a picture of daily labors on the inside, showing that not all prison jobs are the same, nor are all imprisoned workers treated equally. While some find value and purpose in higher-paying, more desirable jobs, others struggle against monotony and hardship in lower-paying, deskilled work assignments. The result is a stratified prison employment system in which race, ethnicity, nationality, and social class help determine one's position in the labor hierarchy and, as a result, their experiences of incarceration and ability to prepare for release. Through insightful first-hand perspectives and rich ethnographic detail, Orange-Collar Labor takes the reader inside the prison workplace, illustrating the formal prison economy as well as the informal black market on which many rely to survive. Highlighting moments of struggle and suffering, as well as hard work, cooperation, resistance, and dignity in harsh environments, it documents the lives of America's working prisoners so often obscured from view.

No obstante, los procesos que llevan a alcanzar la paz también tienen lugar en organizaciones de base, entre las cuales existen comunidades que imaginan y configuran la paz por sus propios medios. La Comunidad de Paz de San José de Apartadó, una organización campesina, no esperó a que un acuerdo de paz fuera producido por la acción de las altas esferas del poder. En contraste, sus miembros se han resistido activamente al desplazamiento forzado y a la coerción que sobre ellos han querido ejercer guerrilleros, Ejército Nacional y paramilitares durante dos décadas en Urabá, una región devastada por la guerra en Colombia. A partir de una etnografía sustentada en métodos de investigación-acción, efectuada a lo largo de doce años, Christopher Courtheyn arroja luz sobre la interpretación que los miembros de la Comunidad dan a la paz y sobre sus prácticas territoriales para afrontar los constantes desplazamientos y masacres que han padecido. This book explores the implications of agonistic democratic theory for political practice. Fuat Gürsözlü argues that at a time when political parties exacerbate political division, political protesters are characterized as looters and terrorists, and extreme partisanship and authoritarian tendencies are on the rise, the agonistic approach offers a much-needed rethinking of political practice to critically understand challenges to democracy and envision more democratic, inclusive, and peaceful alternatives. Inspired by Chantal Mouffe's agonistic theory and drawing on insightsof other prominent agonistic scholars, Gürsözlü offers a distinctive approach that develops the connections between the agonistic approach and political practice. His main claim is that approaching democratic politics from an agonistic perspective changes the way we understand the nature of democratic society, the place of political protest in democracy, the nature of adversarial engagement, and the democratic function of political parties. The book also advances an account of agonistic peace that is best fitted to the pluralistic and inherently conflictual nature of democratic societies. La implantació de la titulació de Periodisme a la Universitat de València no va ser una comesa fàcil, però un pla d'estudis innovador –fins i tot experimental– i un equip docent competent ho va fer possible amb escreix. Els estudis combinaven la tradició del periodisme de qualitat amb algunes noves tendències, com el periodisme científic i tecnològic, el periodisme digital o el periodisme d'investigació i precisió. Achieving peace is often thought about in terms of military operations or state negotiations. Yet it also happens at the grassroots level, where communities envision and create peace on their own. The San José de Apartadó Peace Community of small-scale farmers has not waited for a top-down peace treaty. Instead, they have actively resisted forced displacement and co-optation by guerrillas, army soldiers, and paramilitaries for two decades in Colombia's war-torn Urabá region. Based on ethnographic action research over a twelve-year period, Christopher Courtheyn illuminates the community's understandings of peace and territorial practices against ongoing assassinations and displacement. San José's peace through autonomy reflects an alternative to traditional modes of politics practiced through electoral representation and armed struggle. Courtheyn explores the meaning of peace and territory, while also interrogating the role of race in Colombia's war and the relationship between memory and peace. Amid the widespread violence of today's global crisis, Community of Peace illustrates San José's rupture from the logics of colonialism and capitalism through the construction of political solidarity and communal peace.

En la tarde del sábado 1 de julio de 1995, un grupo de 26 personas entre las que se encontraban gays, lesbianas y bisexuales realizaron un plantón en el parque Kennedy del distrito de Miraflores para reclamar por los derechos de las personas LGBT y el reconocimiento de su existencia en la sociedad. A pesar de tener permiso de la municipalidad, los policías intervinieron el espacio para interrogar y dispersar a quienes pacíficamente se manifestaban. Las personas asistentes a este evento formaban parte del denominado Movimiento Homosexual de Lima (MHOL), organización fundada en 1982. ¿Por qué un grupo de personas homosexuales quisieron fundar una organización en los especialmente complicados, nefastos y turbulentos años 80, en una Lima machista, homofóbica y excluyente? Joaquín Marreros, con genuina curiosidad de historiador, y a través de entrevistas y artículos de diarios, investiga los orígenes del MHOL y sus principales desarrollos en la década de su formación: 1980. Así, reconstruye la historia de la primera organización en pro de los derechos civiles para la comunidad LGBTIQ+ del Perú y la más antigua de América Latina aún en funcionamiento. Este libro nos cuenta cómo se formó el movimiento y, sobre todo, quiénes lo formaron. Con entrevistas a Oscar Ugarteche, Manuel Luján, Manuel Forno, Virginia Vargas, Aldo Araujo, Violeta Barrientos y Sara Rondinel, que capturan sus luchas, sus aportes, sus frustraciones, sus miedos y, en especial, sus triunfos, este libro resulta sumamente humano. Un trabajo de investigación que inició en 2017, se convirtió en una tesis de licenciatura y, finalmente, llega a nuestras manos como un libro sincero, exhaustivo, fluido y necesario, al ser un tema ignorado en los estudios historiográficos contemporáneos: los orígenes de los movimientos sociales de disidencias en el Perú. Joaquín Marreros, autor de este libro, es bachiller y licenciado en Historia por la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Su enfoque de investigación se basa en la historia de género y de las sexualidades en la época contemporánea. En 2019, fue premiado con el segundo lugar en el Primer Concurso de Ensayos de Investigación y Perspectiva de Género, promovido por la Cátedra UNESCO-PUCP. Ese mismo año, culminó sus estudios de pregrado obteniendo el primer lugar de su promoción. En 2021, ganó el Premio de Apoyo a la Investigación por su tesis calificada como sobresaliente, cuyo título es Los orígenes y los desarrollos del Movimiento Homosexual de Lima en la década de 1980. Ha presentado los avances de sus investigaciones en coloquios de estudiantes de la PUCP y en el Congreso Nacional de Historia Bicentenario. En agosto de 2022, empezará sus estudios de doctorado en la Brown University (Estados Unidos), programa que le ofreció una beca completa de 6 años.

This book is an enthralling account of the role played by the destroyer ARA Bouchard in the Falklands/Malvinas War. Over forty years after its construction, with obsolete technology, scarce maintenance and many out-of-service machineries, it was still present during the whole campaign with a prominent role that, for several reasons, remained hidden until today. During the Falklands/Malvinas conflict, it patrolled the north of the archipelago to allow the recapture of the islands. It was noteworthy together with the Cruiser and another destroyer in the attack on the British fleet, without being able to find it. On its return, it was hit by the third torpedo launched by the submarine Conqueror aimed at the cruiser ARA General Belgrano. It suffered damage and, although it could still sail, was forced to dry dock to change a part of its hull. For two consecutive nights, it stopped British commandos from making anincursion into the Río Grande airport, in order to destroy the Navies Super Etendard attack aircraft and assassinate its pilots. With its main gun battery, it fired with combat ammunition on enemy targets and was the only main battery to have the opportunity to do so. It was irradiated and used for missile target practice; they were unable to sink it during the firing practice. Later, it was decommissioned and scrapped.

The Enlhet, an Indigenous people of the Paraguayan Chaco, remained virtually untouched by colonialism until the 1920s. This changed with the arrival of Mennonites, who began settling in the centre of Enlhet territory in 1927; the Chaco War soon after (1932–35); the deadliest conflict in the western hemisphere after the American Civil War; and a terrible smallpox epidemic at the same time.In Don't Cry the Enlhet give their own account of this period, focusing on their experiences of the war between Paraguay and Bolivia, in voices never before heard outside their own society. Their accounts, translated from the Enlhet language and set alongside sensitive historical-anthropological analysis, allow unprecedented access to these hitherto hidden perspectives. Enlhet witnesses to those times describe the processes of colonization to which they were subjected while, at the same time, insisting on their own vision of the world. In Investor State Arbitration In A Changing World Order, the authors examine the sustained worldwide challenges to investor state arbitration arising from across the political spectrum. These challenges have led to extensive and thoughtful proposals for reform from the international arbitration community, domestic lawmakers, and international bureaucrats. These reforms play an important role in the continuous evolution of investor state arbitration, and will enhance the quality of justice rendered. However, the authors argue, these reforms are insufficient to resolve the domestic political challenges that investor state arbitration faces. Only political solutions that justify for broad populations the international flow of capital and the independent resolution of disputes arising therefrom can preserve the institution of investor state arbitration. It is clear now that the Westphalian model of individual sovereign states seeking their own self-interest will not be able to respond effectively to this win-win or lose-lose crisis. In this volume, a cadre of distinguished scholars comes together to reflect on Confucianism and Deweyan pragmatism as possible resources for a new geopolitics that begins from an ontology of interdependence and recognizes the irreducibly ecological nature of the human experience at every level.Both Confucian and Deweyan traditions emphasize the primacy of experience, the importance of vital relationality, and the moral roots of good governance. The potential benefits of conceptually blending the two are many. Indeed, the contemporary Chinese philosopher Tang Junyi provides us with a cosmological understanding of the “idea” of Confucianism that, in parallel to Dewey's “idea” of democracy, can enable us to anticipate the core values, if not the specific contours, of a “Confucian democracy.” Just as Dewey's “idea” of democracy is his vision of the flourishing communal life made possible by the contributions of the uniquely distinguished persons that constitute it, Tang Junyi's Confucianism is a pragmatic naturalism directed at achieving the most highly integrated cultural, moral, and spiritual growth for the individual-in-community. In both, we find an affirmation of communal harmony as a process “starting here and going there” through which those involved learn together to do ordinary things in extraordinary ways. Just such a cosmological understanding of democracy is one way of describing what will be needed to address the many predicaments characterizing the environmental, cultural, socioeconomic, and political dynamics of the twenty-first century.

In 2007, the left came to power in Ecuador. In the years that followed, the “twenty-first-century socialist” government and a coalition of grassroots activists came to blows over the extraction of natural resources. Each side declared the other a perversion of leftism and the principles of socioeconomic equality, popular empowerment, and anti-imperialism. In Resource Radicals, Thea Riofrancos unpacks the conflict between these two leftisms: on the one hand, the administration's resource nationalism and focus on economic development; and on the other, the anti-extractivism of grassroots activists who condemned the government's disregard for nature and indigenous communities. In this archival and ethnographic study, Riofrancos expands the study of resource politics by decentering state resource policy and locating it in a field of political struggle populated by actors with conflicting visions of resource extraction. She demonstrates how Ecuador's commodity-dependent economy and history of indigenous uprisings offer a unique opportunity to understand development, democracy, and the ecological foundations of global capitalism.

By dramaturgical analyses of contemporary artistic work from Lebanon and Palestine, Noeth shows how borders and collectivity are constructed and negotiated through performative, corporeal, movement-based, and sensory strategies and processes. It puts to the fore the residual, body-bound structural effects of borders and of collectivity and proceeds to develop notions of agency and responsibility that are immanently bound to bodies in relation.

A concluding section suggests future directions for research on Latin American foreign policies in the 1980s and offers a theoretical framework for the analysis of foreign policy behavior in the region.

Arbitration is one form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). It must be taken into account that ADR was envisioned as an alternative to litigation, with its own manifest of substantive and procedural characteristics. To that extent, arbitration enhances access to justice by permitting claimants to bring claims they could not afford to bring to court. International commercial arbitration is a legally binding dispute resolution process that substitutes for domestic courts. Arbitration began as an extrajudicial mechanism for resolving disputes. Arbitration “took its rise in the very infancy of Society” as a private and self-contained method, distinctive from litigation and not as a postscript to the development of public courts. Has this fact been shared by state legislation and modern arbitration practice or has arbitration been developed into an appendage of the courts? Merchants established arbitration tribunals because they felt that the courts were not sufficiently knowledgeable about commercial customs and were exceptionally slow and unwieldy. National arbitration, international commercial arbitration, and investor-state arbitration have developed on parallel but separate tracks, each reacting to different political, economic, and social settings. Although arbitration is a quasi-judicial proceeding, it is not conducted with the same degree of formality as a judicial proceeding within the United States which means that the spirit of arbitration is the parties'freedom from the strict structure of ordinary judicial proceedings. Arbitration has to guarantee legal certainty, predictability, and settlement being costless. The emergence of many non-independent arbitral tribunals creates a Gordian knot by merely adding more work for courts in order to deal with so many requests for intervention in arbitrations. The current perplexing between arbitration and courts causes only confusion, profit chances for many people and less quick and cheap justice. In addition, arbitration is judicialized dependent more and more from court rulings; this causes it to lose its advantages and become more and more costly. Because of this, its validity is questionable and it might be more productive to establish more courts to employ more judges rather than struggling with arbitration as it currently functions. Taking into account that private parties are performing an escalating number of tasks that were once accomplished by the government, privatization has become so prevalent and involves “delegation” of state authority to private parties. This can be seen as a legal basis for the independence of arbitration under National Authority Management Arbitration (NAMA).
