O presente livro é resultado de toda a pesquisa acadêmica realizada durante o curso de mestrado que concluí. De modo geral, o livro analisa as mudanças nos padrões de consumo da sociedade brasileira, estudando a relação entre tal fato e a necessidade de mudanças legislativas tributárias em vistas à inclusão social. De fato os benefícios fiscais são eficazes em todo o curso de sua vigência? Para isso, a pesquisa busca compreender em que medida se devem considerar, na aplicação da seletividade tributária em razão da essencialidade dos produtos e serviços, as mudanças dos padrões de consumo da sociedade. Faz-se ainda um cotejamento entre os dados levantados e o sistema tributário posto, observando-se a efetividade, ou não, da aplicação da técnica da seletividade tributária em razão da essencialidade, sem a ocorrência de atualização temporal da legislação em relação aos produtos considerados essenciais atualmente. Toda a pesquisa desenvolve-se à luz da teoria de justiça como equidade de John Rawls, e convida o leitor a pensar o direito com um olhar além da legislação.

No mundo jurídico, a teoria da decisão judicial é um assunto que desperta muitas discussões e reflexões, desde a semântica das decisões até o poder dos juízes, passando pelo pós-positivismo e pelos caminhos hermenêuticos de juristas renomados. Com isso, a Análise Econômica do Direito, sob o manto do pragmatismo de Richard Posner, também traz uma abordagem interessante, rompendo com o positivismo jurídico e trazendo à tona premissas teóricas como o individualismo metodológico e a eficiência, e, apesar das limitações e críticas, contribui significativamente para a pesquisa jurídica. Antonio Caldaras Oratorio S. Giovanni Nepomuceno entstand 1726, fünf Jahre nach der Seligsprechung von Johannes Nepomuk, für die sich unter anderen der damalige Fürsterzbischof von Salzburg, Franz Anton von Harrach (1665–1727), in Rom verwendet hatte. Es wurde am 23. Mai 1726 in der neuen, dem Heiligen geweihten Kapelle von Schloss Mirabell in Salzburg zum ersten Mal aufgeführt. Antonio Caldara (1760–1736), in Venedig geboren, war nach Tätigkeit in Mantua und Rom 1717 als Vizekapellmeister in kaiserliche Dienste getreten. Seine ausgezeichneten Beziehungen zum Salzburger Hof pflegte er offenbar weiter, denn zwischen 1716 und 1727 komponierte er zahlreiche Werke für Fürsterzbischof Franz Anton. Die autographe Partitur des Oratoriums hat sich in der Bibliothek der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde erhalten. Das Oratorio, in dem Caldara dem neuen, galanten Stil bereits Rechnung trägt, besteht aus einer instrumentalen Introduzione, fünfzehn Arien und Rezitativen, einem Duett und einem kurzen Schlusschor.

This book argues that, although secular and religious perspectives on disasters have often conflicted, today there are grounds for believing that the world's major faiths have much to contribute to the processes of post-disaster recovery and future disaster risk reduction (DRR).It seeks to demonstrate how contemporary dialogues between theologians, disaster scholars and policymakers are defining new ways of working together. These explore how the resources of religious communities, e.g. buildings, human resources and finance, may be used to foster successful policies of DRR, particularly in the aftermath of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Moreover, the author shows how Lucchese merchant-bankers expanded their operations from Italy, first to the fairs of Champagne and ultimately to all of Europe's major commercial centres. Special attention is given to the use of the exchange contract, or cambium, as an instrument of credit and of transfer. Problems of coinage and foreign exchange are also treated extensively, including the origins of the Tuscan grossi and the Lucchese gold groat.
