Title in English: Pohybová aktivita jako účinný prostředek nefarmakologické péče v onkologii Much of the existing research confirms the assumption that regular physical activity can play a crucial role in nonpharmacological therapy and quality-of-life management in cancer survivors. The treatment of oncological diseases itself brings about numerous undesirable side effects, such as cardiotoxicity, anxiety, depression, sarcopenia, polyneuropathy, cancer fatigue and sleep disorders. Regular physical activity is associated with significant health benefits, including a lower risk of developing certain types of tumours and the elimination of the undesirable side-effects of oncological treatment. A number of epidemiological studies found a correlation between regular physical activity and lower mortality linked to oncological diseases. The minimal amount of activity needed to attain this benefit has not been established, however, the recommendations of the ACSM indicate that at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity are needed per week. Physical exercise as nonpharmacological treatment is part of the therapy for cancer survivors which aims to incorporate targeted, controlled exercise programmes within the overall treatment plan of the patients. Exercise programmes can be performed both during the illness as well as in the period prior to the treatment, or in the course of adjuvant antitumour treatment (including chemotherapy) and for the survivors. When prescribing physical activity it is necessary to take into account the current health condition of the patient, including their comorbidities, age, and level of physical fitness. If controlled physical activity is to become an indispensable part of oncological treatment, it will be necessary to prove the therapy is safe and cost-effective.

The Second Massachusetts Cavalry included the only organized group (5 companies totaling 504 men) from California to fight in the east during the Civil War. Led by a young Boston aristocrat, Colonel Charles R. Lowell, these men began their wartime careers in Northern Virginia in 1862, clashing with the partisan rangers of Major John S. Mosby, in a deadly world of guerrilla warfare. In August of 1864, the regiment was assigned to Major General Phil Sheridan's Army of Shenandoah and served through all of the battles in the victorious campaign to clear the valley of Confederates, witnessing the final surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. This account tells what these men from California and Massachusetts accomplished, how they communicated, and how they viewed themselves. The book contains three appendices that list the battle casualties of the regiment during its largest engagements. Photographs and a bibliography are also included.

El presente compendio es una obra dedicada al envejecimiento, que busca evidenciar la primera versión del Programa del Posgrado de Geriatría y Gerontología que, desde el año 2015, se impartió en la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), como parte de los 18 programas de especialidades médicas de la Facultad de Medicina. La primera versión de Geriatría y Gerontología se desarrolló con 5 cohortes. En Ecuador, esta especialidad es ofertada únicamente en una Institución educativa superior: la PUCE, que fomenta la formación de profesionales en esta rama con énfasis en la investigación en adultos mayores, un grupo vulnerable de la sociedad. En el programa, los estudiantes formularon diversas incógnitas en relación al manejo de la población gerontológica y, en un trabajo conjunto con los tutores de tesis, se resolvieron algunas incógnitas de los diferentes problemas planteados. Estas propuestas responden a diversos temas: primero, clínicos, como síndromes geriátricos, valoración geriátrica integral, funcionalidad, importancia de marcadores de laboratorio en el adulto mayor. Segundo, de carácter social, como la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores y otros temas cuyas conclusiones ayudan a tener una base desde la que fomentar la investigación en este campo. Por lo tanto, se presenta un resumen de los diversos trabajos de titulación que iniciaron en el 2019 con la primera cohorte de geriatras-gerontólogos. Es importante destacar la entrega de las autoras y los autores a esta rama altruista de la medicina, junto su interés y especial atención a la investigación. Son 75 graduados en Geriatría y Gerontología que han querido exponer sus trabajos de titulación presentando los diversos resultados y conclusiones a las que han llegado luego del análisis de los mismos.

Challenging Contextuality: Bibles and Biblical Scholarship in Context provides a new and innovative contribution to the study of biblical texts by bringing together current approaches to biblical interpretation. In doing so, it aligns itself with the broadly shared hermeneutical conviction that contextuality is a catalyst for interpretation. Since the last edition of this book (2014), progress has been astonishing in all areas of Natural Language Processing, with recent achievements in Text Generation that spurred a media interest going beyond the traditional academic circles. Text Processing has meanwhile become a mainstream industrial tool that is used, to various extents, by countless companies. As such, a revision of this book was deemed necessary to catch up with the recent breakthroughs, and the author discusses models and architectures that have been instrumental in the recent progress of Natural Language Processing.As in the first two editions, the intention is to expose the reader to the theories used in Natural Language Processing, and to programming examples that are essential for a deep understanding of the concepts. Although present in the previous two editions, Machine Learning is now even more pregnant, having replaced many of the earlier techniques to process text. Many new techniques build on the availability of text. Using Python notebooks, the reader will be able to load small corpora, format text, apply the models through executing pieces of code, gradually discover the theoretical parts by possibly modifying the code or the parameters, and traverse theories and concrete problems through a constant interaction between the user and the machine. The data sizes and hardware requirements are kept to a reasonable minimum so that a user can see instantly, or at least quickly, the results of most experiments on most machines.The book does not assume a deep knowledge of Python, and an introduction to this language aimed at Text Processing is given in Ch. 2, which will enable the reader to touch all the programming concepts, including NumPy arrays and PyTorch tensors as fundamental structures to represent and process numerical data in Python, or Keras for training Neural Networks to classify texts. Im Vergleich zu anderen Wissenschaftsdisziplinen ist die Sportwissenschaft eine „junge“ Wissenschaft an unseren Universitäten. Sie verfolgt einen anwendungsorientierten und interdisziplinären Ansatz. How the innate physical properties of different technologies influence the strategy and structure of the organizations implementing the technologies, the sequel to Design Rules: The Power of Modularity.In Design Rules, volume 2, Carliss Baldwin offers a comprehensive view of the digital economy by putting forth an original theory that explains how technology shapes organizations in a market economy. The theory claims that complementarities arising from the physical nature of technologies can be arrayed on a spectrum ranging from strong to very weak. Two basic types of technologies in turn exhibit different degrees of complementarity between their internal components. Flow production technologies, which are found in steel mills and auto factories, specify a series of steps, each of which is essential to the final product. In contrast, platform technologies, which are characteristic of computer hardware, software, and networks, are modular systems designed to provide options.Baldwin then investigates the dynamics of strategy for firms in platform ecosystems. Such firms create value by solving technical bottlenecks—technical barriers to performance that arise in different parts of the system as it evolves. They capture value by controlling and defending strategic bottlenecks—components that are (1) essential to the functioning of some part of the system; (2) unique; and (3) controlled by a profit-seeking enterprise. Strategic bottlenecks can be acquired by solving technical bottlenecks. They can be destroyed via tactics such as substitution, reverse engineering, bypassing the bottleneck, and enveloping a smaller bottleneck within a larger one. Strategy in platform ecosystems can thus be viewed as the effective management of technical and strategic bottlenecks within a modular technical system.

The transition to renewable energy has spurred many efforts to scale up the U.S. portfolio of efficient clean energy resources, including the development of offshore wind farms. The Nantucket Shoals region off the coast of Massachusetts is the first large scale wind farm installation under development in U.S. waters. To ensure Nantucket Shoals region offshore wind energy installations are being planned, constructed, and developed in an environmentally responsible way, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) asked the National Academies to evaluate the potential for offshore wind farms in the Nantucket Shoals region to affect oceanic physical processes, and, in turn, how those hydrodynamic alterations might affect local to regional ecosystems. Of particular interest to BOEM are the potential effects of hydrodynamic changes on zooplankton productivity and aggregations, which may affect foraging for the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. This report found the impacts of offshore wind projects on the North Atlantic right whale and the availability of their prey in the Nantucket Shoals region will likely be difficult to distinguish from the significant impacts of climate change and other influences on the ecosystem. Further study and monitoring of the oceanography and ecology of the Nantucket Shoals region is needed to fully understand the impact of future wind farms. This report recommends the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and others should promote observational studies and modeling that will advance understanding of potential hydrodynamic effects and their consequent impacts on ecology in the Nantucket Shoals region during all phases of wind energy development.

We live in an era of techno-monopoly power in which technocapitalism - through ubiquitous digital platforms - has colonized both the internet and key aspects of our everyday lives. Cities and larger urban and metropolitan environments have provided a fertile ground for the rise and rapid growth of this power. In The Urban Field, Moisio and Rossi reveal an urban monopoly capitalism supported by the “corporatized state”. They critically examine the relationship between capital and the state, and the generation of an urban governmentality centred on the economization of knowledge and technology in four key sites: labour, human capital, startups and forms of life. Moisio and Rossi contend that, ultimately, the urban field is a constitutively political construct that can be enacted in a different way, no longer as a value-extraction machine but as a collective endeavour aiming at redefining established modes of economic value creation.
