This collection of eleven papers covers a broad spectrum of topics in analysis, from the study of certain classes of analytic functions to the solvability of singular problems for differential and integral equations to computational schemes for the partial differential equations and singular integral equations.

This book presents papers that originally appeared in the Japanese journal Sugaku. The papers fall into the general area of mathematical analysis as it pertains to probability and statistics, dynamical systems, differential equations and analytic function theory. Among the topics discussed are: stochastic differential equations, spectra of the Laplacian and Schrödinger operators, nonlinear partial differential equations which generate dissipative dynamical systems, fractal analysis on self-similar sets and the global structure of analytic functions.

This book is a collection of thoroughly refereed papers presented at the 27th IFIP TC 7 Conference on System Modeling and Optimization, held in Sophia Antipolis, France, in June/July 2015.The 48 revised papers were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. This book contains select papers on mathematical analysis and modeling, discrete mathematics, fuzzy sets, and soft computing. All the papers were presented at the international conference on FIM28-SCMSPS20 virtually held at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar (SSN) College of Engineering, Chennai, India, and Stella Maris College (Autonomous), Chennai, from November 23–27, 2020. The conference was jointly held with the support of the Forum for Interdisciplinary Mathematics. Both the invited articles and submitted papers were broadly grouped under three heads: Part 1 on analysis and modeling (six chapters), Part 2 on discrete mathematics and applications (six chapters), and Part 3 on fuzzy sets and soft computing (three chapters).

It started in Bordeaux (France) in 2004, followed by Porto (Portugal) 2006, Istanbul (Turkey) 2008, Badajoz (Spain) 2010, Nanjing (China) 2012, Catania (Italy) 2014, Novi Sad (Serbia) 2016, Amman (Jordan) 2018. Next ICFDA was planned in 2020 in Warsaw (Poland), but COVID-19 pandemic shifted it to 6–8 September 2021. Hence, the organizers were forced to change the form of the conference to the online one.In the volume twenty eight high-quality research papers presented during the ICFDA 2021 eleven Regular Sessions with an additional online Discussion Session are presented. The presented papers are scientifically inspiring, leading to new fruitful ideas. They cover a very broad range of many disciplines. Nowadays, and especially in such a subject as fractional calculus, it is very difficult to assign papers to specific scientific areas. So, many of the papers included have an interdisciplinary character.

Analysis, et cetera: Research Papers Published in Honor of Jürgen Moser's 60th Birthday provides a collection of papers dedicated to Jürgen Moser on the occasion of his 60th birthday. This book covers a variety of topics, including Helmholtz equation, algebraic complex integrability, theory of Lie groups, and trigonometric polynomials. Organized into 31 chapters, this book begins with an overview of some basic consequences of the definition of algebraic complete integrability. This text then derives a representation theorem for solutions of the Helmholtz equation. Other chapters consider the integrable generalizations of the Volterra system and explain the dynamical system in the finite-dimensional case. The book contains two contributions about the work of Emmanuele DiBenedetto and a selection of original papers. The authors are some of the main experts in Harnack's inequalities and nonlinear operators. These papers are part of the contributions presented during the conference to celebrate the 70th birthday of Prof. Emmanuele DiBenedetto, which was held at “Il Palazzone” in Cortona from June 18th to 24th, 2017. The papers are focused on current research topics regarding the qualitative properties of solutions, connections with calculus of variations, Harnack inequality and regularity theory. This book organizes and explains, in a systematic and pedagogically effective manner, recent advances in path integral solution techniques with applications in stochastic engineering dynamics. It fills a gap in the literature by introducing to the engineering mechanics community, for the first time in the form of a book, the Wiener path integral as a potent uncertainty quantification tool. Since the path integral flourished within the realm of quantum mechanics and theoretical physics applications, most books on the topic have focused on the complex-valued Feynman integral with only few exceptions, which present path integrals from a stochastic processes perspective. Remarkably, there are only few papers, and no books, dedicated to path integral as a solution technique in stochastic engineering dynamics. Summarizing recently developed techniques, this volume is ideal for engineering analysts interested in further establishing path integrals as an alternative potent conceptual and computational vehicle in stochastic engineering dynamics.

The aim of this book is to provide an overview of some of the progress made by the Spanish Network of Geometric Analysis (REAG, by its Spanish acronym) since its born in 2007. REAG was created with the objective of enabling the interchange of ideas and the knowledge transfer between several Spanish groups having Geometric Analysis as a common research line. This includes nine groups at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad de Granada, Universidad Jaume I de Castellón, Universidad de Murcia, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela and Universidad de Valencia. The success of REAG has been substantiated with regular meetings and the publication of research papers obtained in collaboration between the members of different nodes.On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of REAG this book aims to collect some old and new contributions of this network to Geometric Analysis. The book consists of thirteen independent chapters, all of themauthored by current members of REAG. The topics under study cover geometric flows, constant mean curvature surfaces in Riemannian and sub-Riemannian spaces, integral geometry, potential theory and Riemannian geometry, among others. Some of these chapters have been written in collaboration between members of different nodes of the network, and show the fruitfulness of the common research atmosphere provided by REAG. In the spring of 1976, George Andrews of Pennsylvania State University visited the library at Trinity College, Cambridge, to examine the papers of the late G.N. Watson. The book is a collection of original papers, research and surveys, dedicated to the memory of the Romanian mathematician Solomon Marcus (1925-2016). Marcus published many papers and books in mathematical analysis, theoretical computer science, mathematical linguistics, poetics, theory of literature, semiotics, and several other fields less strongly connected to mathematics, like cultural anthropology, biology, history and philosophy of science, education. He exemplified an unimaginable richness of ideas.This volume intends to emphasize the mathematical fields in which Solomon Marcus worked, and demonstrate — as he also did — the interconnection between them. The authors who contribute to this volume are well-known experts in their fields. Most of them knew Solomon Marcus well, some even owed him for his decisive impulses for their careers and general development. With articles in so diverse areas, the volume will attract readers who would like to diversify their own knowledge or find unexpected connections with other topics.

This book contains a collection of articles corresponding to some of the talks delivered at the Foundations of Computational Mathematics conference held at IMPA in Rio de Janeiro in January 1997. Some ofthe others are published in the December 1996 issue of the Journal of Complexity. Both of these publications were available and distributed at the meeting. Even in this aspect we hope to have achieved a synthesis of the mathematics and computer science cultures as well as of the disciplines. The reaction to the Park City meeting on Mathematics of Numerical Analy­ sis: Real Number Algorithms which was chaired by Steve Smale and had around 275 participants, was very enthusiastic. At the suggestion of Narendra Karmar­ mar a lunch time meeting of Felipe Cucker, Arieh Iserles, Narendra Karmarkar, Jim Renegar, Mike Shub and Steve Smale decided to try to hold a periodic meeting entitled'Foundations of Computational Mathematics'and to form an organization with the same name whose primary purpose will be to hold the meeting. This is then the first edition of FoCM as such. It has been organized around a small collection of workshops, namely - Systems of algebraic equations and computational algebraic geometry - Homotopy methods and real machines - Information-based complexity - Numerical linear algebra - Approximation and PDEs - Optimization - Differential equations and dynamical systems - Relations to computer science - Vision and related computational tools There were also twelve plenary speakers.

The present volume contains selected papers issued from the sixth edition of the International Conference'Numerical methods for hyperbolic problems'that took place in 2019 in Málaga (Spain). NumHyp conferences, which began in 2009, focus on recent developments and new directions in the field of numerical methods for hyperbolic partial differential equations (PDEs) and their applications. This book includes the joint proceedings of the International Conference on Particle Systems and PDEs VI, VII and VIII. Particle Systems and PDEs VI was held in Nice, France, in November/December 2017, Particle Systems and PDEs VII was held in Palermo, Italy, in November 2018, and Particle Systems and PDEs VIII was held in Lisbon, Portugal, in December 2019. Most of the papers are dealing with mathematical problems motivated by different applications in physics, engineering, economics, chemistry and biology. They illustrate methods and topics in the study of particle systems and PDEs and their relation. This book presents original papers reflecting topics featured at the international symposium entitled “Fusion of Mathematics and Biology” and organized by the editor of the book. The symposium, held in October 2020 at Osaka University in Japan, was the core event for the final year of the research project entitled “Establishing International Research Networks of Mathematical Oncology.” The project had been carried out since April 2015 as part of the Core-to-Core Program of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). This book contains contributions from the participants of the research group hosted by the ZiF - Center for Interdisciplinary Research at the University of Bielefeld during the period 2013-2017 as well as from the conclusive conference organized at Bielefeld in December 2017. This book collects select papers presented at the “International Conference on Mathematical Analysis and Application in Modeling,” held at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, on 9–12 January 2018. It discusses new results in cutting-edge areas of several branches of mathematics and applications, including analysis, topology, dynamical systems (nonlinear, topological), mathematical modeling, optimization and mathematical biology. This book is a collection of selected research papers, some of which were presented at the International Conference on Differential Geometry, Algebra and Analysis (ICDGAA 2016), held at the Department of Mathematics, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, from 15–17 November 2016. Two medals were awarded, one to Lars V. Ahlfors and one to Jesse Douglass. It was Carathéodory who presented both their works during the opening of the International Congress. This volume contains significant papers in Science and Engineering dedicated to the memory of Constantin Carathéodory and the spirit of his mathematical influence.

In this paper, time changes of the Brownian motions on generalized Sierpinski carpets including $n$-dimensional cube $[0, 1]^n$ are studied. Intuitively time change corresponds to alteration to density of the medium where the heat flows. In case of the Brownian motion on $[0, 1]^n$, density of the medium is homogeneous and represented by the Lebesgue measure. The author's study includes densities which are singular to the homogeneous one. He establishes a rich class of measures called measures having weak exponential decay. This class contains measures which are singular to the homogeneous one such as Liouville measures on $[0, 1]^2$ and self-similar measures. The author shows the existence of time changed process and associated jointly continuous heat kernel for this class of measures. Furthermore, he obtains diagonal lower and upper estimates of the heat kernel as time tends to $0$. In particular, to express the principal part of the lower diagonal heat kernel estimate, he introduces “protodistance” associated with the density as a substitute of ordinary metric. If the density has the volume doubling property with respect to the Euclidean metric, the protodistance is shown to produce metrics under which upper off-diagonal sub-Gaussian heat kernel estimate and lower near diagonal heat kernel estimate will be shown.

This book is dedicated to the memory of Mikael Passare, an outstanding Swedish mathematician who devoted his life to developing the theory of analytic functions in several complex variables and exploring geometric ideas first-hand. It includes several papers describing Mikael's life as well as his contributions to mathematics, written by friends of Mikael's who share his attitude and passion for science. A major section of the book presents original research articles that further develop Mikael's ideas and which were written by his former students and co-authors. All these mathematicians work at the interface of analysis and geometry, and Mikael's impact on their research cannot be underestimated.
