Deuterium fractionation is a well-established evolutionary tracer in low-mass star formation, but its applicability to the high-mass regime remains an open question. The abundances and ratios of deuterated species have often been proposed as reliable evolutionary indicators for different stages of the high-mass star formation. We investigate the role of N$_2$H$^+$ and key deuterated molecules as tracers of the different stages of the high-mass star formation, and test whether their abundance ratios can serve as reliable evolutionary indicators. We conducted APEX observations of o-H$_2$D$^+$ (1$_{10}$-1$_{11}$), N$_2$H$^+$ (4-3), and N$_2$d$^+$ (3-2) in 40 high-mass clumps at different evolutionary stages, selected from the ATLASGAL survey. Molecular column densities ($N$) and abundances ($X$), were derived through spectral line modelling, both under local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) and non-LTE conditions. The $N$(o-H$_2$D$^+$) show the smallest deviation from LTE results when derived under non-LTE assumptions. In contrast, N$_2$D$^+$ shows the largest discrepancy between the $N$ derived from LTE and non-LTE. In all the cases discussed, we found that $X$(o-H$_2$D$^+$) decreases more significantly with time than in the case of $X$(N$_2$D$^+$); whereas $X$(N$_2$H$^+$) increases slightly. Therefore, the validity of the recently proposed $X$(o-H$_2$D$^+$)/$X$(N$_2$D$^+$) ratio as a reliable evolutionary indicator was not observed for this sample. While the deuteration fraction derived from N$_2$D$^+$ and N$_2$H$^+$ clearly decreases with clump evolution, the interpretation of this trend is complex, given the different distribution of the two tracers. Our results suggest that a careful consideration of the observational biases and beam-dilution effects are crucial for an accurate interpretation of the evolution of the deuteration process during the high-mass star formation process., Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, 3 tables. When the planet formation process begins in the disks surrounding young stars is still an open question. Annular substructures such as rings and gaps in disks are intertwined with planet formation, and thus their presence or absence is commonly used to investigate the onset of this process. Current observations show a limited number of disks surrounding protostars exhibiting annular substructures, all of them in the Class I stage. The lack of observed features in most of these sources may indicate a late emergence of substructures, but it could also be an artifact of these disks being optically thick. To mitigate the problem of optical depth, we investigate substructures within a very young Class 0 disk characterized by a low inclination using observations at longer wavelengths. We use 3 mm ALMA observations tracing dust emission at a resolution of 7 au to search for evidence of annular substructures in the disk around the deeply embedded Class 0 protostar Oph A SM1. The observations reveal a nearly face-on disk (i$\sim$16$^{\circ}$) extending up to 40 au. The radial intensity profile shows a clear deviation from a smooth profile near 30 au, which we interpret as the presence of either a gap at 28 au or a ring at 34 au with Gaussian widths of $\sigma=1.4^{+2.3}_{-1.2}$ au and $\sigma=3.9^{+2.0}_{-1.9}$ au, respectively. The 3 mm emission at the location of the possible gap or ring is determined to be optically thin, precluding the possibility that this feature in the intensity profile is due to the emission being optically thick. Annular substructures resembling those in the more evolved Class I and II disks could indeed be present in the Class 0 stage, earlier than previous observations suggested. How does molecular complexity emerge and evolve during the process leading to the formation of a planetary system? Astrochemistry is experiencing a golden age, marked by significant advancements in the observation and understanding of the chemical processes occurring in the inner regions of protostellar systems. However, many questions remain open, such as the origin of the chemical diversity observed in the early evolutionary stages, which may influence the chemical composition of the forming planets. Additionally, astrochemistry provides us with powerful tools to investigate the accretion/ejection processes occurring in the inner regions of young embedded objects, such as jets, winds, accretion streamers, and shocks. In this chapter, we review the observational efforts carried out in recent years to chemically characterize the inner regions of Solar-System analogs. We summarize our current understanding of molecular complexity in planet-forming disks and shed light on the existing limitations and unanswered questions. Recent observations suggest that planets formation starts early, in protostellar disks of $\le10^5$ yrs, which are characterized by strong interactions with the environment, e.g., through accretion streamers and molecular outflows. To investigate the impact of such phenomena on disk physical and chemical properties it is key to understand what chemistry planets inherit from their natal environment. In the context of the ALMA Large Program Fifty AU STudy of the chemistry in the disk/envelope system of Solar-like protostars (FAUST), we present observations on scales from ~1500 au to ~60 au of H$_2$CO, HDCO, and D$_2$CO towards the young planet-forming disk IRS~63. H$_2$CO probes the gas in the disk as well as in a large scale streamer (~1500 au) impacting onto the South-East (SE) disk side. We detect for the first time deuterated formaldehyde, HDCO and D$_2$CO, in a planet-forming disk, and HDCO in the streamer that is feeding it. This allows us to estimate the deuterium fractionation of H$_2$CO in the disk: [HDCO]/[H$_2$CO]$\sim0.1-0.3$ and [D$_2$CO]/[H$_2$CO]$\sim0.1$. Interestingly, while HDCO follows the H$_2$CO distribution in the disk and in the streamer, the distribution of D$_2$CO is highly asymmetric, with a peak of the emission (and [D]/[H] ratio) in the SE disk side, where the streamer crashes onto the disk. In addition, D$_2$CO is detected in two spots along the blue- and red-shifted outflow. This suggests that: (i) in the disk, HDCO formation is dominated by gas-phase reactions similarly to H$_2$CO, while (ii) D$_2$CO was mainly formed on the grain mantles during the prestellar phase and/or in the disk itself, and is at present released in the gas-phase in the shocks driven by the streamer and the outflow. Context. Understanding the connection between outflows, winds, accretion and disks in the inner protostellar regions is crucial for comprehending star and planet formation process. Aims. We aim to we explore the inner 300 au of the protostar IRAS 4A2 as part of the ALMA FAUST Large Program. Methods. We analysed the kinematical structures of SiO and CH$_3$OH emission with 50 au resolution. Results. The emission arises from three zones: i) a very compact and unresolved region ($<$50 au) dominated by the ice sublimation zone, at $\pm$1.5 km s$^{-1}$ with respect to vsys, traced by methanol; ii) an intermediate region (between 50 au and 150 au) traced by both SiO and CH$_3$OH, between 2 and 6 km s$^{-1}$ with respect to vsys, with an inverted velocity gradient (with respect to the large scale emission), whose origin is not clear; iii) an extended region ($>$150 au) traced by SiO, above 7 km s$^{-1}$ with respect to vsys, and dominated by the outflow. In the intermediate region we estimated a CH$_3$OH/SiO abundance ratio of about 120-400 and a SiO/H$_2$ abundance of 10$^{-8}$. We explored various possibilities to explain the origin of this region such as, rotating disk/inner envelope, jet on the plane of the sky/precessing, wide angle disk wind. Conclusions. We propose that CH$_3$OH and SiO in the inner 100 au probe the base of a wide-angle disk wind. The material accelerated in the wind crosses the plane of the sky, giving rise to the observed inverted velocity gradient, and sputtering the grain mantles and cores releasing CH$_3$OH and SiO. Cosmic rays regulate the dynamics and the chemical processes in the densest and coldest regions of the ISM. Still, the determination of the cosmic-ray ionisation rate of H$_2$ (${\zeta^{\rm ion}_{{\rm H}_2}}$) is plagued by uncertainties in the adopted chemical networks and the analysis techniques. This work aims to homogeneously estimate the ${\zeta^{\rm ion}_{{\rm H}_2}}$ at parsec scales towards the Orion Molecular Clouds OMC-2 and OMC-3, probing its variation across a whole star-forming region and a range of column densities never explored before. The most recent ${\zeta^{\rm ion}_{{\rm H}_2}}$ estimates are based on o$-$H$_2$D$^+$, whose abundance we proxy through CO depletion taking advantage of the existing correlation between the two parameters. We therefore employ observations of C$^{18}$O (2$-$1), HCO$^+$ (1$-$0) and DCO$^+$ (3$-$2) towards OMC-2 and OMC-3 to determine the depletion factor, the deuteration fraction and, ultimately, a map of ${\zeta^{\rm ion}_{{\rm H}_2}}$ in these two regions. The depletion factors and deuteration fractions correlate with the total column density of H$_2$, the N$_2$H$^+$ emission and the coldest fields across OMC-2 and OMC-3. The cosmic-ray ionisation rate shows values of ${\zeta^{\rm ion}_{{\rm H}_2}}\sim5\times10^{-18}-10^{-16}$~s$^{-1}$, in agreement with previous o$-$H$_2$D$^+$-based estimates. In addition, it shows an overall decrease for increasing $N(\mathrm{H_2}$), consistently with the predictions from theoretical models. Our approach provides results comparable with theoretical predictions and previous independent studies, confirming the robustness of the analytical framework and the viability of CO depletion as proxy for o$-$H$_2$D$^+$. By exploring the major limitations of the method, we suggest interferometric observations as mandatory to reliably constrain the ${\zeta^{\rm ion}_{{\rm H}_2}}$ also at parsec scales.

The origin of the chemical diversity observed around low-mass protostars probably resides in the earliest history of these systems. We aim to investigate the impact of protostellar feedback on the chemistry and grain growth in the circumstellar medium of multiple stellar systems. In the context of the ALMA Large Program FAUST, we present high-resolution (50 au) observations of CH$_3$OH, H$_2$CO, and SiO and continuum emission at 1.3 mm and 3 mm towards the Corona Australis star cluster. Methanol emission reveals an arc-like structure at $\sim$1800 au from the protostellar system IRS7B along the direction perpendicular to the major axis of the disc. The arc is located at the edge of two elongated continuum structures that define a cone emerging from IRS7B. The region inside the cone is probed by H$_2$CO, while the eastern wall of the arc shows bright emission in SiO, a typical shock tracer. Taking into account the association with a previously detected radio jet imaged with JVLA at 6 cm, the molecular arc reveals for the first time a bow shock driven by IRS7B and a two-sided dust cavity opened by the mass-loss process. For each cavity wall, we derive an average H$_2$ column density of $\sim$7$\times$10$^{21}$ cm$^{-2}$, a mass of $\sim$9$\times$10$^{-3}$ M$_\odot$, and a lower limit on the dust spectral index of $1.4$. These observations provide the first evidence of a shock and a conical dust cavity opened by the jet driven by IRS7B, with important implications for the chemical enrichment and grain growth in the envelope of Solar System analogues., Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures, 3 tables. iCOMs are species commonly found in the interstellar medium. They are believed to be crucial seed species for the build-up of chemical complexity in star forming regions as well as our own Solar System. Thus, understanding how their abundances evolve during the star formation process and whether it enriches the emerging planetary system is of paramount importance. We use data from the ALMA Large Program FAUST to study the compact line emission towards the [BHB2007] 11 proto-binary system (sources A and B), where a complex structure of filaments connecting the two sources with a larger circumbinary disk has previously been detected. More than 45 CH3OCHO lines are clearly detected, as well as 8 CH3OCH3 transitions , 1 H2CCO transition and 4 t-HCOOH transitions. We compute the abundance ratios with respect to CH3OH for CH3OCHO, CH3OCH3, H2CCO, t-HCOOH (as well as an upper limit for CH3CHO) through a radiative transfer analysis. We also report the upper limits on the column densities of nitrogen bearing iCOMs, N(C2H5CN) and N(C2H3CN). The emission from the detected iCOMs and their precursors is compact and encompasses both protostars, which are separated by only 0.2" (~ 28 au). The integrated intensities tend to align with the Southern filament, revealed by the high spatial resolution observations of the dust emission at 1.3 mm. A PV and 2D analysis are performed on the strongest and uncontaminated CH3OCH3 transition and show three different spatial and velocity regions, two of them being close to 11B (Southern filament) and the third one near 11A. All our observations suggest that the detected methanol, as well as the other iCOMs, are generated by the shocked gas from the incoming filaments streaming towards [BHB2007] 11A and 11B, respectively, making this source one of the few where chemical enrichment of the gas caused by the streaming material is observed., Comment: Accepted in A&A

Cosmic rays (CRs) heavily impact the chemistry and physics of cold and dense star-forming regions. However, characterising their ionisation rate is still challenging from an observational point of view. In the past, a few analytical formulas have been proposed to infer the cosmic-ray ionization rate $\zeta_2$ from molecular line observations. These have been derived from the chemical kinetics of the involved species, but they have not been validated using synthetic data processed with a standard observative pipeline. We aim to bridge this gap. We perform the radiative transfer on a set of three-dimensional magneto-hydrodynamical simulations of prestellar cores, exploring different initial $\zeta_2$, evolutionary stages, types of radiative transfer (e.g. assuming local-thermodynamic-equilibrium conditions), and telescope responses. We then compute the column densities of the involved tracers to determine $\zeta_2$, using, in particular, the equation proposed by Bovino et. al (2020) and by Caselli et al. (1998) both used nowadays. Our results confirm that the method of Bovino et al. (2020) accurately retrieves the actual $\zeta_2$ within a factor of $2-3$, in the physical conditions explored in our tests. Since we also explore a non-local thermodynamic equilibrium radiative transfer, this work indirectly offers insights into the excitation temperatures of common transitions at moderate volume densities ($n\approx 10^5 \, \rm cm^{-3}$). We have also performed a few tests using the formula proposed by Caselli et al. (1998), which overestimates the actual $\zeta_2$ by at least two orders of magnitudes. The ALMA interferometer has played a key role in revealing a new component of the Sun-like star forming process: the molecular streamers, i.e. structures up to thousands of au long funneling material non-axisymmetrically to disks. In the context of the FAUST ALMA LP, the archetypical VLA1623-2417 protostellar cluster has been imaged at 1.3 mm in the SO(5$_6$--4$_5$), SO(6$_6$--5$_5$), and SiO(5--4) line emission at the spatial resolution of 50 au. We detect extended SO emission, peaking towards the A and B protostars. Emission blue-shifted down to 6.6 km s$^{-1}$ reveals for the first time a long ($\sim$ 2000 au) accelerating streamer plausibly feeding the VLA1623 B protostar. Using SO, we derive for the first time an estimate of the excitation temperature of an accreting streamer: 33$\pm$9 K. The SO column density is $\sim$ 10$^{14}$ cm$^{-2}$, and the SO/H$_2$ abundance ratio is $\sim$ 10$^{-8}$. The total mass of the streamer is 3 $\times$ 10$^{-3}$ $Msun$, while its accretion rate is 3--5 $\times$ 10$^{-7}$ Msun yr$^{-1}$. This is close to the mass accretion rate of VLA1623 B, in the 0.6--3 $\times$ 10$^{-7}$ Msun yr$^{-1}$ range, showing the importance of the streamer in contributing to the mass of protostellar disks. The highest blue- and red-shifted SO velocities behave as the SiO(5--4) emission, the latter species detected for the first time in VLA1623-2417: the emission is compact (100-200 au), and associated only with the B protostar. The SO excitation temperature is $\sim$ 100 K, supporting the occurrence of shocks associated with the jet, traced by SiO., Comment: accepted by MNRAS

High-mass star formation theories make distinct predictions on the properties of the prestellar seeds of high-mass stars. Observations of the early stages of high-mass star formation can provide crucial constraints, but they are challenging and scarce. We investigate the properties of the prestellar core population embedded in the high-mass clump AGAL014.492-00.139, and we study the kinematics at the clump and the clump-to-core scales. We have analysed an extensive dataset acquired with the ALMA interferometer. Applying a dendrogram analysis to the Band o-$\rm H_2D^+$ data, we identified 22 cores. We have fitted their average spectra in local-thermodinamic-equilibrium conditions, and we analysed their continuum emission at $0.8 \, \rm mm$. The cores have transonic to mildly supersonic turbulence levels and appear mostly low-mass, with $M_\mathrm{core}< 30 \, \rm M_\odot$. Furthermore, we have analysed Band 3 observations of the $\rm N_2H^+$ (1-0) transition, which traces the large scale gas kinematics. Using a friend-of-friend algorithm, we identify four main velocity coherent structures, all of which are associated with prestellar and protostellar cores. One of them presents a filament-like structure, and our observations could be consistent with mass accretion towards one of the protostars. In this case, we estimate a mass accretion rate of $ \dot{M}_\mathrm{acc}\approx 2 \times 10^{-4} \rm \, M_\odot \, yr^{-1}$. Our results support a clump-fed accretion scenario in the targeted source. The cores in prestellar stage are essentially low-mass, and they appear subvirial and gravitationally bound, unless further support is available for instance due to magnetic fields., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ

(Abridged) Understanding the details of the formation process of massive (i.e. M<8-10M$_\odot$) stars is a long-standing problem in astrophysics. [...] We present a method to derive accurate timescales of the different evolutionary phases of the high-mass star formation process. We model a representative number of massive clumps of the ATLASGAL-TOP100 sample which cover all the evolutionary stages. The models describe an isothermal collapse and the subsequent warm-up phase, for which we follow their chemical evolution. The timescale of each phase is derived by comparing the results of the models with the properties of the sources of the ATLASGAL-TOP100 sample, taking into account the mass and luminosity of the clumps, and the column densities of methyl acetylene (CH$_3$CCH), acetonitrile (CH$_3$CN), formaldehyde (H$_2$CO) and methanol (CH$_3$OH). We find that the chosen molecular tracers are affected by the thermal evolution of the clumps, showing steep ice evaporation gradients from 10$^3$ to 10$^5$ AU during the warm-up phase. We succeed in reproducing the observed column densities of CH$_3$CCH and CH$_3$CN, while H$_2$CO and CH$_3$OH show a poorer agreement with the observed values. The total (massive) star formation time is found to be $\sim5.2\times10^5$ yr, which is defined by the timescales of the individual evolutionary phases of the ATLASGAL-TOP100 sample: $\sim5\times10^4$ yr for 70-$\mu$m weak, $\sim1.2\times10^5$ yr for mid-IR weak, $\sim2.4\times10^5$ yr for mid-IR bright and $\sim1.1\times10^5$ yr for HII-regions phases. Our models, with an appropriate selection of molecular tracers that can act as chemical clocks, allow to get robust estimates of the duration of the individual phases of the high-mass star formation process, with the advantage of being capable to include additional tracers aimed at increasing the accuracy of the estimated timescales., Comment: Published on A&A (19 pages, 9 figures, 7 tables)

Context. The different theoretical models concerning the formation of high-mass stars make distinct predictions regarding their progenitors, i.e. the high-mass prestellar cores. However, so far no conclusive observation of such objects has been made. Aims. We aim to study the very early stages of high-mass star formation in two infrared-dark, massive clumps, to identify the core population that they harbour. Methods. We obtained ALMA observations of continuum emission at 0.8mm and of the ortho-$\rm H_2D^+$ transition at 372GHz towards the two clumps. We use the SCIMES algorithm to identify cores in the position-position-velocity space, finding 16 cores. We model their observed spectra in the LTE approximation, deriving the centroid velocity, linewidth, and column density maps. We also study the correlation between the continuum and molecular data, which in general do not present the same structure. Results. We report for the first time the detection of ortho-$\rm H_2D^+$ in high-mass star-forming regions performed with an interferometer. The molecular emission shows narrow and subsonic lines, suggesting that locally the temperature of the gas is less than 10K. From the continuum emission we estimate the cores' total masses, and compare them with the respective virial masses. We also compute the volume density values, which are found to be higher than $10^{6}\, \rm cm^{-3}$. Conclusions. Our data confirm that ortho-$\rm H_2D^+$ is an ideal tracer of cold and dense gas. Interestingly, almost all the $\rm H_2D^+$-identified cores are less massive than 13M_sun , with the exception of one core in AG354. Furthermore, most of them are subvirial and larger than their Jeans masses. These results are difficult to explain in the context of the turbulent accretion models, which predict massive and virialised prestellar cores., Comment: Accepted for publications in A&A

(Abridged) We present a large sample of o-H$_2$D$^+$ observations in high-mass star-forming regions and discuss possible empirical correlations with relevant physical quantities to assess its role as a chronometer of star-forming regions through different evolutionary stages. APEX observations of the ground-state transition of o-H$_2$D$^+$ were analysed in a sample of massive clumps selected from ATLASGAL at different evolutionary stages. Column densities and beam-averaged abundances of o-H$_2$D$^+$ with respect to H$_2$, $X$(o-H$_2$D$^+$), were obtained by modelling the spectra under the assumption of local thermodynamic equilibrium. We detect 16 sources in o-H$_2$D$^+$ and find clear correlations between $X$(o-H$_2$D$^+$) and the clump bolometric luminosity and the dust temperature, while only a mild correlation is found with the CO-depletion factor. In addition, we see a clear correlation with the luminosity-to-mass ratio, which is known to trace the evolution of the star formation process. This would indicate that the deuterated forms of H$_3^+$ are more abundant in the early stages of the star formation process and that deuteration is influenced by the time evolution of the clumps. In this respect, our findings would suggest that the $X$(o-H$_2$D$^+$) abundance is mainly affected by the thermal changes rather than density changes in the gas. We have employed these findings together with observations of H$^{13}$CO$^+$, DCO$^+$, and C$^{17}$O to provide an estimate of the cosmic-ray ionisation rate in a sub-sample of eight clumps based on recent analytical work. Our study presents the largest sample of o-H$_2$D$^+$ in star-forming regions to date. The results confirm that the deuteration process is strongly affected by temperature and suggests that o-H$_2$D$^+$ can be considered a reliable chemical clock during the star formation processes, as proved by its strong temporal dependence., Comment: 18 pages, 8 figures and 6 tables. Disentangling the different stages of the star-formation process, in particular in the high-mass regime, is a challenge in astrophysics. Chemical clocks could help alleviating this problem, but their evolution strongly depends on many parameters, leading to degeneracy in the interpretation of the observational data. One of these uncertainties is the degree of CO depletion. We present here the first self-consistent magneto-hydrodynamic simulations of high-mass star-forming regions at different scales, fully coupled with a non-equilibrium chemical network, which includes C-N-O bearing molecules. Depletion and desorption processes are treated time-dependently. The results show that full CO-depletion (i.e. all gas-phase CO frozen-out on the surface of dust grains), can be reached very quickly, in one third or even smaller fractions of the free-fall time, whether the collapse proceeds on slow or fast timescales. This leads to a high level of deuteration in a short time both for typical tracers like N$_2$H$^+$, as well as for the main ion H$_3^+$, the latter being in general larger and more extended. N$_2$ depletion is slightly less efficient, and no direct effects on N-bearing molecules and deuterium fractionation are observed. We show that CO depletion is not the only driver of deuteration, and that there is a strong impact on $D_{frac}$ when changing the grain-size. We finally apply a two-dimensional gaussian Point Spread Function to our results to mimic observations with single-dish and interferometers. Our findings suggest that the low-values observed in high-mass star-forming clumps are in reality masking a full-depletion stage in the inner 0.1 pc region., Comment: accepted on ApJ

An estimate of the degree of CO-depletion ($f_D$) provides information on the physical conditions occurring in the innermost and densest regions of molecular clouds. A key parameter in these studies is the size of the depletion radius, i.e. the radius within which the C-bearing species, and in particular CO, are largely frozen onto dust grains. A strong depletion state (i.e. $f_D>10$, as assumed in our models) is highly favoured in the innermost regions of dark clouds, where the temperature is $<20$ K and the number density of molecular hydrogen exceeds a few $\times$10$^{4}$ cm$^{-3}$. In this work, we estimate the size of the depleted region by studying the Infrared Dark Cloud (IRDC) G351.77-0.51. Continuum observations performed with the $Herschel$ $Space$ $Observatory$ and the $LArge$ $APEX$ $BOlometer$ $CAmera$, together with APEX C$^{18}$O and C$^{17}$O J=2$\rightarrow$1 line observations, allowed us to recover the large-scale beam- and line-of-sight-averaged depletion map of the cloud. We built a simple model to investigate the depletion in the inner regions of the clumps in the filament and the filament itself. The model suggests that the depletion radius ranges from 0.02 to 0.15 pc, comparable with the typical filament width (i.e.$\sim$0.1 pc). At these radii, the number density of H$_2$ reaches values between 0.2 and 5.5$\times$10$^{5}$ cm$^{-3}$. These results provide information on the approximate spatial scales on which different chemical processes operate in high-mass star-forming regions and also suggest caution when using CO for kinematical studies in IRDCs., Comment: accepted to MNRAS (14 pages, 10 figures, 1 table)

Based on HST and MUSE data, we probe the stellar and gas properties (i.e. kinematics, stellar mass, star formation rate) of the radio-loud brightest cluster galaxy (BCG) located at the centre of the X-ray luminous cool core cluster Abell 2667 (z = 0.2343). The bi-dimensional modelling of the BCG surface brightness profile reveals the presence of a complex system of substructures extending all around the galaxy. Clumps of different size and shape plunged into a more diffuse component constitute these substructures, whose intense 'blue' optical colour hints to the presence of a young stellar population. Our results depict the BCG as a massive (M_star ~ 1.38 x 10^11 M_sun) dispersion-supported spheroid (v_star < 150 km/s, sigma_0 ~ 216 km/s) hosting an active supermassive black hole (M_SMBH ~ 3.8 x 10^9 M_sun) whose optical features are typical of low ionisation nuclear emission line regions. Although the velocity pattern of the stars in the BCG is irregular, the stellar kinematics in the regions of the clumps show a positive velocity of ~ 100 km/s, similarly to the gas component. An analysis of the mechanism giving rise to the observed lines in the clumps through empirical diagnostic diagrams points out that the emission is composite, suggesting the contribution from both star formation and AGN. We conclude our analysis describing how scenarios of both chaotic cold accretion and merging with a gas-rich disc galaxy can efficaciously explain the phenomena the BCG is undergoing., Comment: Accepted for publication on the 10th of June 2019 (MNRAS)

The local Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC5135, thanks to its almost face-on appearance, a bulge overdensity of stars, the presence of a large-scale bar, an AGN and a Supernova Remnant, is an excellent target to investigate the dynamics of inflows, outflows, star formation and AGN feedback. Here we present a reconstruction of the gas morphology and kinematics in the inner regions of this galaxy, based on the analysis of Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) archival data. To our purpose, we combine the available $\sim$100 pc resolution ALMA 1.3 and 0.45 mm observations of dust continuum emission, the spectroscopic maps of two transitions of the CO molecule (tracer of molecular mass in star forming and nuclear regions), and of the CS molecule (tracer of the dense star forming regions) with the outcome of the SED decomposition. By applying the $^{\rm 3D}$BAROLO software (3D-Based Analysis of Rotating Object via Line Observations), we have been able to fit the galaxy rotation curves reconstructing a 3D tilted-ring model of the disk. Most of the observed emitting features are described by our kinematic model. We also attempt an interpretation for the emission in few regions that the axisymmetric model fails to reproduce.
