Conversions between neutrons $n$ and Dark Matter candidate sterile neutrons $n'$ have been proposed as a mechanism for Baryon Number $\mathcal{B}$ violation. In the case that there is a small mass difference $\Delta{m}$ between the $n$ and the $n'$ states, oscillations can be induced by compensating for $\Delta{m}$ with a magnetic field. A search for such neutron oscillations was performed at the Spallation Neutron Source by looking for anomalous neutron transmission through a strongly absorbing cadmium wafer inside of a $6.6$~T magnet. The approach described here saw no regenerated neutrons above background, which provides an improved limit for neutron - sterile neutrons transformations for a range of $\Delta{m}$ between $0.1$~neV and $1000$~neV., Comment: 18 pages, 15 figures

The HIBEAM and NNBAR experiments are a proposed fundamental science experiments at the European Spallation Source, performing high precision searches for neutron conversions in several baryon number violating (BNV) channels. For simulations of the NNBAR beamline, a new sampling method has been developed. The method is based on probability density evaluation and duct source biasing and enables the simulations of the entire NNBAR beamline with high statistics while also preserving correlations of the neutron tracks.

Particles beyond the Standard Model (SM) can generically have lifetimes that are long compared to SM particles at the weak scale. When produced at experiments such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, these long-lived particles (LLPs) can decay far from the interaction vertex of the primary proton-proton collision. Such LLP signatures are distinct from those of promptly decaying particles that are targeted by the majority of searches for new physics at the LHC, often requiring customized techniques to identify, for example, significantly displaced decay vertices, tracks with atypical properties, and short track segments. Given their non-standard nature, a comprehensive overview of LLP signatures at the LHC is beneficial to ensure that possible avenues of the discovery of new physics are not overlooked. Here we report on the joint work of a community of theorists and experimentalists with the ATLAS, CMS, and LHCb experiments --- as well as those working on dedicated experiments such as MoEDAL, milliQan, MATHUSLA, CODEX-b, and FASER --- to survey the current state of LLP searches at the LHC, and to chart a path for the development of LLP searches into the future, both in the upcoming Run 3 and at the High-Luminosity LHC. The work is organized around the current and future potential capabilities of LHC experiments to generally discover new LLPs, and takes a signature-based approach to surveying classes of models that give rise to LLPs rather than emphasizing any particular theory motivation. We develop a set of simplified models; assess the coverage of current searches; document known, often unexpected backgrounds; explore the capabilities of proposed detector upgrades; provide recommendations for the presentation of search results; and look towards the newest frontiers, namely high-multiplicity "dark showers", highlighting opportunities for expanding the LHC reach for these signals.

We summarize the current status of baryon number violation in supersymmetry and provide prospects for going beyond the present reach by means of a new search for neutron-antineutron oscillations. The main motivation is the recently proposed neutron-antineutron oscillation experiment at the European Spallation Source in Lund, Sweden, which is projected to be able to improve the current bound on the transition probability in the quasi-free regime by three orders of magnitude. We consider various processes involving superpartners that give rise to neutron-antineutron oscillations and extract the corresponding simplified models, including only the most relevant superpartners and couplings. In terms of these models we recast and determine the exclusion limits from LHC searches as well as from searches for flavor transitions, CP violation and di-nucleon decays. We find that, for certain regions of the parameter space, the proposed neutron-antineutron experiment has a reach that goes beyond all other experiments, as it can probe gluino and squark masses in the multi-TeV range., Comment: 36 pages, 17 figures, 1 table. v3: coefficient of the six-quark operators for the non-EW cases corrected, equations and figures accordingly replaced, conclusions unchanged

A sensitive search for neutron-antineutron oscillations can provide a unique probe of some of the central questions in particle physics and cosmology: the energy scale and mechanism for baryon number violation, the origin of the baryon-antibaryon asymmetry of the universe, and the mechanism for neutrino mass generation. A remarkable opportunity has emerged to search for such oscillations with the construction of the European Spallation Source (ESS). A collaboration has been formed which has proposed a search at the ESS, which would provide a sensitivity to the oscillation probability which is three orders of magnitude greater than that achieved at an ILL experiment at which the present best limit on free neutron-antineutron oscillations was obtained., Comment: Paper prepared for proceedings of EPS HEP 2015, July 2015, Vienna, Austria

The theoretical motivation for exotic stable massive particles (SMPs) and the results of SMP searches at non-collider facilities are reviewed. SMPs are defined such that they would be sufficiently long-lived so as to still exist in the cosmos either as Big Bang relics or secondary collision products, and sufficiently massive to be beyond the reach of any conceivable accelerator-based experiment. The discovery of SMPs would address a number of important questions in modern physics, such as the origin and composition of dark matter in the Universe and the unification of the fundamental forces. This review outlines the scenarios predicting SMPs and the techniques used at non-collider experiments to look for SMPs, eg in cosmic rays and bound in matter. The limits so far obtained on the fluxes and matter densities of SMPs which possess various detection-relevant properties such as electric and magnetic charge are given.

Exotic stable massive particles (SMP) are proposed in a number of scenarios of physics beyond the Standard Model. It is important that LHC experiments are able both to detect and extract the quantum numbers of any SMP with masses around the TeV scale. To do this, an understanding of the interactions of SMPs in matter is required. In this paper a Regge-based model of R-hadron scattering is extended and implemented in Geant-4. In addition, the implications of $R$-hadron scattering for collider searches are discussed.

The electron-proton collider HERA allows the study of the partonic content of the proton in regions of Q-squared up to 50,000 GeV$^2$ and values of Bjorken-x down to 10^-5.
