With the observation of gravitational waves from merging compact binary systems, a new observing window of the universe has been opened. Most of the gravitational wave events currently detected are due to the merger of binary black hole systems. One way to better investigate such systems is to look for coincident emission in electromagnetic waves or neutrinos. For typical models of isolated binaries, no such emission is expected. However, one promising class of mergers is that of binary black holes in the accretion disk of active galactic nuclei. Such mergers potentially occur at high rates, since these environments naturally have high numbers of black holes, which can efficiently form binaries, merge rapidly, and potentially accrete matter fast due to the surrounding gas. The detection of astrophysical neutrinos from transient sources can help to understand the origin of the neutrino diffuse flux and to constrain the underlying production mechanisms. In particular, proton-neutron collisions may produce GeV neutrinos. However, at these energies, neutrino data from large water Cherenkov telescopes, like KM3NeT and IceCube, are dominated by the well-known atmospheric neutrino flux. It is then necessary to identify a sub-dominant component due to an astrophysical emission based on time correlation across messengers. The contribution covers several methods to search for such a signal in short time windows centered on observed transient sources, including a novel approach based on the distribution of time differences. Their performance is compared in the context of subpopulations of astrophysical sources that may show prompt or delayed neutrino emissions. We present the results of searches for astrophysical neutrinos of few GeV energy from compact binary mergers detected during the first months of the fourth observing run of the LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA interferometers. We describe our method, based on a selection of $0.5-5$ GeV neutrino events in IceCube, where we search for a statistically significant increase in the number of low-energy candidate events detected around the compact binary merger time. With these results, we constrain neutrino-emitting source populations. Finally, we compare our results with constraints set by neutrino searches at $> 10$ GeV energies and describe the complementarity of these low- and high-energy searches., Comment: Presented at the 38th International Cosmic Ray Conference (ICRC2023). An array of powerful neutrino-beam experiments will study the fundamental properties of neutrinos with unprecedented precision in the coming years. Along with their primary neutrino-physics motivations, there has been growing recognition that these experiments can carry out a rich program of searches for new, light, weakly-coupled particles that are part of a dark sector. In this white paper, we review the diverse theoretical motivations for dark sectors and the capabilities of neutrino beam experiments to probe a wide range of models and signatures. The existence of non-zero neutrino masses points to the likely existence of multiple SM neutral fermions. When such states are heavy enough that they cannot be produced in oscillations, they are referred to as Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs). In this white paper we discuss the present experimental status of HNLs including colliders, beta decay, accelerators, as well as astrophysical and cosmological impacts. We discuss the importance of continuing to search for HNLs, and its potential impact on our understanding on key fundamental questions, and additionally we outline the future prospects for next-generation future experiments or upcoming accelerator run scenarios., Comment: 82 pages, 34 figures. The real-time recognition of neutrino signals from astrophysical objects with very-low false alarm rate and short-latency, is crucial to perform multi-messenger detection, especially in the case of distant core-collapse supernovae accessible with the next generation of large-scale neutrino telescopes. The current time-based selection algorithms implemented in operating online monitors depend mainly on the number of events (multiplicity) detected in a fixed time window, under the hypothesis of Poisson-distributed background. However, these methods are not capable of exploiting the time profile discrepancies between the expected supernova neutrino burst and the stationary background. In this paper we propose a new general and flexible technique (beta filter method) which provides specific decision boundaries on the cluster multiplicity-duration plane, guaranteeing the desired false alarm rate in an analytical way. The performance is evaluated using the injection of a general purpose SN-like signal on top of realistic background rates in current detectors. An absolute gain in efficiency of up to $\sim 80\%$ is achieved compared with the standard techniques, and a new ultra-low multiplicity region is unveiled., Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures

This paper proposes a new approach for the selection of low-energy neutrino bursts, such as the ones detected after a supernova. It exploits the temporal structure of the expected signal with respect to the more diffuse background by defining a "Real-time Test Statistic" (RTS) that would allow identifying very weak signals, hard to select using standard clustering methods. For a given background rate, the new method (RTS$^2$: RTS for Supernovae) increases signal efficiency while keeping the same false alarm rate for Poisson-distributed background. By adding a spatial penalty term to the definition of RTS, one can also reject spatially-correlated backgrounds such as the ones due to spallation events. Furthermore, the method is easy to implement in a real-time monitoring system as RTS can be computed recursively for successive events, and it can be easily adapted for detectors of all scales that may want to send prompt alerts e.g. through SNEWS 2.0 network., Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures

The T2K neutrino oscillation experiment established the $\nu_\mu \rightarrow \nu_e$ appearance with only $10\%$ of the original beam request of $7.8\times10^{21}$ $30$ GeV protons on target (POT). In view of the J-PARC program of upgrades of the beam intensity, the T2K-II proposal for $20\times10^{21}$ POT aimed at establishing CP violation at $3\sigma$ level for a significant fraction of the possible $\delta_{CP}$ values. The Hyper-K proposal consists of a further increase by a factor $10$ of the far detector mass. Facing the potential increase of statistics by two orders of magnitude, it is of great importance to undertake a vigorous program of near detector upgrade, with the aim of reducing the overall statistical and systematic uncertainties at the appropriate level of better than $4\%$.
