We show that gauge fields after a spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) mechanism do not have a Gribov problem along the broken directions. In order to make this proof, we describe a gauge fixing procedure inspired on Morse theory leading to the concept of a gauge fixing generating functional. This approach is specially suited in order to understand the unitary gauges of t Hooft. The conclusion is that after a SSB process, the generalized Faddeev-Popov operator acquires a positive definite value along the broken directions. We show how this works in the eletroweak $SU(2)XU(1)$ theory, where such a result is in fact expected as in this case the gauge fields acquire masses after the SSB. Then we apply this development to the $SL(3,c)$ confining model of [1]. The final result explains why such confining mechanism is actually a solution to Gribov problem for the confined gauge fields. These cases show that although confinement is not a general effect of the solution of the Gribov problem, as we can infer from the eletroweak example, its solution indeed seems to be necessary in order to achieve confinement. Some time ago we have introduced a route to provide confinement in the sense that particle excitations would appear from condensates of fields that do not have physical asymptotic states. We envisaged this mechanism in an asymmetric vacuum phase of a complex gauge field theory. More recently, we showed how to define a BRST operator to the broken phase of a generic spontaneous broken field theory. After the phase transition of a Grand Unified Theory (GUT), its single coupling splits into the couplings of the basic interactions. On the other side, the measurement of the Weinberg mixing angle in the eletroweak theory determines that the couplings associated to the SU(2) and U(1) symmetries were already distinct in its symmetric phase, before the electroweak breaking. This picture is consistent as we understand that such couplings evolve independently with the energy scale, meeting a common point together with the strong interaction coupling at the GUT scale. From a BRST symmetry point of view, this implies that each independent coupling should be associated to independent cocycles defined on a cohomological basis. The problem is that, before the GUT symmetry breaking, the BRST operator associated to this symmetric phase predicts a single Yang-Mills coupling. This sets the question of what should be the BRST operator of the asymmetric phase, that would allow for the splitting of this coupling but at the same time remain compatible with the BRST operator of the symmetric phase. Named Data Networking (NDN) is a top-notched architecture to deal with content distribution over the Internet. With the explosion of video streaming transmission and future massive Internet of Things and Vehicles (IoT/IoV) traffic, evolving Wi-Fi networks will play an essential role in such ecosystems. However, Native NDN deployment over wireless networks may not perform well. Wi-Fi broadcasts/multicasts result in reduced throughput due to the usage of basic service mode. Despite recent initial works addressing that issue, further studies and proposals are required to boost the adoption of Native NDN. We advocate that an initial step towards designing a feasible Native NDN over wireless networks should be understanding the challenges in emerging scenarios and providing a uniform baseline to compare and advance proposals. To this end, first, we highlight some challenges and directions to improve throughput and energy efficiency, reduce processing overhead, and security issues. Next, we propose a variant of NDN that minimizes the problems identified by performing transmission via unicast to avoid storms in wireless networks. Finally, we conducted a performance evaluation to compare Standard Native NDN with our proposal on Wi-Fi 6 vehicular networks. Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a cornerstone building block of smart cities to provide better traffic safety and mobile infotainment. Recently, improved efficiency in WLAN-based dense scenarios has become widespread through Wi-Fi 6, a license-free spectrum technology that can complement the cellular-based infrastructure for IoV. In addition, Named Data Networking (NDN) is a promising Internet architecture to accomplish content distribution in dynamic IoV scenarios. However, NDN deployments, i.e., native (clean-slate) and overlay (running on top of IP stack), require further investigation of their performance over wireless networks, particularly regarding the IoV scenario. This paper performs a comparative simulation-based study of these NDN deployments over Wi-Fi 6 for IoV using real vehicular traces. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first effort that extends ndnSIM 2 with an overlay-based NDN implementation and that compares it with the native approach. NDN has gained significant attention due to the appearance of several unforeseen design flaws that became evident with new communication scenarios. Among its many features, the two standard NDN forwarding strategies are not adaptive, causing performance degradation in several scenarios. We introduced here the study of a QCD based on a complex group. Our aim is to show that a gauge theory with a complex symmetry develops some of the features required for the description of a confined phase. This theory leads to gluons with propagations characteristic of i-particles, fundamental constituents of propagators in the Gribov scenario, together with a gluon propagating with the mode predicted by 't Hooft for the quark confinement. In this way, we present in this same theory a possible gluon condensate, together with a confining interquark potential after the coupling to fermions. We develop the construction of fermionic fields in terms of bosonic ones to describe free and interaction models in the circle, using thermofielddynamics. The description in the case of finite temperature is developed for both normal modes and zero modes. The treatment extends the thermofield-bosonization for periodic space.

In this work we show how nonlinear point-coupling models, described by a Lagrangian density that presents only terms up to fourth order in the fermion condensate $(\bar{\psi}\psi)$, are derived from a modified meson-exchange nonlinear Walecka model. The derivation can be done through two distinct methods, namely, the hypermassive meson limit within a functional integral approach, and the mean-field approximation in which equations of state at zero temperature of the nonlinear point-coupling models are directly obtained., Comment: 18 pages. The recent generalization of the Lowenstein-Swieca operator solution of Quantum Electrodynamics in 1+1 dimensions to finite temperature in Thermofield Dynamics is further generalized to include a non-vanishing chemical potential. The operator solution to the Euler-Lagrange equations respecting the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger condition is constructed. Two forms of this condition and their associated solutions are discussed. The correlation functions of an arbitrary number of chiral densities are computed in the thermal theta-vacuum.

We construct the charge operator and discuss the limits of their eigenvalues as the separation between background soliton and anti-solitons goes to infinity and analyze the fluctuations of the charge. This is performed in a (1+1)D model with charge conjugation breaking.

The Schwinger model at finite temperature is analyzed using the Thermofield Dynamics formalism. The operator solution due to Lowenstein and Swieca is generalized to the case of finite temperature within the thermofield bosonization approach. The general properties of the statistical-mechanical ensemble averages of observables in the Hilbert subspace of gauge invariant thermal states are discussed. The bare charge and chirality of the Fermi thermofields are screened, giving rise to an infinite number of mutually orthogonal thermal ground states. One consequence of the bare charge and chirality selection rule at finite temperature is that there are innumerably many thermal vacuum states with the same total charge and chirality of the doubled system. The fermion charge and chirality selection rules at finite temperature turn out to imply the existence of a family of thermal theta vacua states parametrized with the same number of parameters as in zero temperature case. We compute the thermal theta-vacuum expectation value of the mass operator and show that the analytic expression of the chiral condensate for any temperature is easily obtained within this approach, as well as, the corresponding high-temperature behavior.

We consider the perturbative computation of the N-point function of chiral densities of massive free fermions at finite temperature within the thermofield dynamics approach. The infinite series in the mass parameter for the N-point functions are computed in the fermionic formulation and compared with the corresponding perturbative series in the interaction parameter in the bosonized thermofield formulation. Thereby we establish in thermofield dynamics the formal equivalence of the massive free fermion theory with the sine-Gordon thermofield model for a particular value of the sine-Gordon parameter. The SW map problem is formulated and solved in the BRST cohomological approach. The well known ambiguities of the SW map are shown to be associated to distinct cohomological classes. This analysis is applied to the noncommutative Chern-Simons action resulting in the emergence of $\theta$-dependent terms in the commutative action which come from the nontrivial ambiguities. We present a class of mappings between models with topological mass mechanism and purely topological models in arbitrary dimensions. These mappings are established by directly mapping the fields of one model in terms of the fields of the other model in closed expressions. These expressions provide the mappings of their actions as well as the mappings of their propagators. For a general class of models in which the topological model becomes the BF model the mappings present arbitrary functions which otherwise are absent for Chern-Simons like actions. In this work, we are motivated by previous attempts to derive the vacuum contribution to the bag energy in terms of familiar Casimir energy calculations for spherical geometries. A simple infrared modified model is introduced which allows studying the effects of the analytic structure as well as the geometry in a clear manner. In this context, we show that if a class of infrared vanishing effective gluon propagators is considered, then the renormalized vacuum energy for a spherical bag is attractive, as required by the bag model to adjust hadron spectroscopy., Comment: 7 pages. 1 figure. The main objective of this paper is to obtain an operator realization for the bosonization of fermions in 1 + 1 dimensions, at finite, non-zero temperature T. This is achieved in the framework of the real time formalism of Thermofield Dynamics. Formally the results parallel those of the T = 0 case. The well known two-dimensional Fermion-Boson correspondences at zero temperature are shown to hold also at finite temperature. In order to emphasize the usefulness of the operator realization for handling a large class of two-dimensional quantum field-theoretic problems, we contrast this global approach with the cumbersome calculation of the fermion-current two-point function in the imaginary-time formalism and real time formalisms. The calculations also illustrate the very different ways in which the transmutation from Fermi-Dirac to Bose-Einstein statistics is realized., Comment: 30 pages, no figure. We present a class of mappings between the fields of the Cremmer-Sherk and pure BF models in 4D. These mappings are established by two distinct procedures. First a mapping of their actions is produced iteratively resulting in an expansion of the fields of one model in terms of progressively higher derivatives of the other model fields. Secondly an exact mapping is introduced by mapping their quantum correlation functions. The equivalence of both procedures is shown by resorting to the invariance under field scale transformations of the topological action. Related equivalences in 5D and 3D are discussed. The field of a point electric dipole in an infinite dielectric is obtained by placing the dipole at the center of a spherical cavity of radius $R$ inside the dielectric and then letting $R\to 0$. The result disagrees with the elementary answer found in textbooks. The mathematical and physical reasons for the disagreement are discussed. The discrepancy is confirmed by the same limiting procedure applied to a uniformly polarized sphere embedded in the dielectric. We next solve the same problem for a polarized spheroid immersed in an infinite dielectric and find that the asymptotic potential shows an unexpected shape dependence, even after taking the limit of an arbitrarily small spheroid. The Schr\"odinger equations for the Coulomb and the Harmonic oscillator potentials are solved in the cosmic-string conical space-time. The spherical harmonics with angular deficit are introduced. The algebraic construction of the harmonic oscillator eigenfunctions is performed through the introduction of non-local ladder operators. By exploiting the hidden symmetry of the two-dimensional harmonic oscillator the eigenvalues for the angular momentum operators in three dimensions are reproduced. A generalization for N-dimensions is performed for both Coulomb and harmonic oscillator problems in angular deficit space-times. It is thus established the connection among the states and energies of both problems in these topologically non-trivial space-times., Comment: 15 pages

The mean square end-to-end distance of a N-step polymer on a Bethe lattice is calculated. We consider semiflexible polymers placed on isotropic and anisotropic lattices. The distance on the Cayley tree is defined by embedding the tree on a sufficiently high dimensional Euclidean space considering that every bend of the polymer defines a direction orthogonal to all the previous ones. In the isotropic case, the result obtained for the mean square end-to-end distance turns out to be identical to the one obtained for ideal chains without immediate returns on an hypercubic lattice with the same coordination number of the Bethe lattice. We consider the canonical quantization of a generalized two-dimensional massive fermion theory containing higher odd-order derivatives. The requirements of Lorentz invariance, hermiticity of the Hamiltonian and absence of tachyon excitations suffice to fix the mass term, which contains a derivative coupling. We show that the basic quantum excitations of a higher-derivative theory of order 2N+1 consist of a physical usual massive fermion, quantized with positive metric, plus 2N unphysical massless fermions, quantized with opposite metrics. The positive metric Hilbert subspace, which is isomorphic to the space of states of a massive free fermion theory, is selected by a subsidiary-like condition. Employing the standard bosonization scheme, the equivalent boson theory is derived. A foundational investigation of the basic structural properties of two-dimensional anomalous gauge theories is performed. The Hilbert space is constructed as the representation of the intrinsic local field algebra generated by the fundamental set of field operators whose Wightman functions define the model. We examine the effect of the use of a redundant field algebra in deriving basic properties of the models and show that different results may arise, as regards the physical properties of the generalized chiral model, in restricting or not the Hilbert space as representation of the intrinsic local field algebra. The question referring to considering the vector Schwinger model as a limit of the generalized anomalous model is also discussed. We analyse the Hilbert space structure of the isomorphic gauge non-invariant and gauge invariant bosonized formulations of chiral $QCD_2$ for the particular case of the Jackiw-Rajaraman parameter $ a = 2$. The BRST subsidiary conditions are found not to provide a sufficient criterium for defining physical states in the Hilbert space and additional superselection rules must to be taken into account. We examine the effect of the use of a redundant field algebra in deriving basic properties of the model. We analyse the BRST constraints and corresponding Hilbert-space structure of chiral QCD$_2$ in the decoupled formulation for the case of the Jackiw-Rajaraman parameter $a=2$. It has been suggested that the chiral symmetry can be implemented only in classical Lagrangians containing higher covariant derivatives of odd order. Contrary to this belief, it is shown that one can construct an exactly soluble two-dimensional higher-derivative fermionic quantum field theory containing only derivatives of even order whose classical Lagrangian exhibits chiral-gauge invariance. The original field solution is expressed in terms of usual Dirac spinors through a canonical transformation, whose generating function allows the determination of the new Hamiltonian. It is emphasized that the original and transformed Hamiltonians are different because the mapping from the old to the new canonical variables depends explicitly on time.
