In 2016, Karney proposed an exact sampling algorithm for the standard normal distribution. In this paper, we study the computational complexity of this algorithm under the random deviate model. Specifically, Karney's algorithm requires the access to an infinite sequence of independently and uniformly random deviates over the range (0,1). We give an estimate of the expected number of uniform deviates used by this algorithm until outputting a sample value, and present an improved algorithm with lower uniform deviate consumption. The experimental results also shows that our improved algorithm has better performance than Karney's algorithm.

Xorshift128+ are pseudo random number generators with eight sets of parameters. Some of them are standard generators in many platforms, such as JavaScript V8 Engine. We show that in the 3D plots generated by this method, points concentrate on planes, ruining the randomness.

Xorshift128+ is a newly proposed pseudorandom number generator (PRNG), which is now the standard PRNG on a number of platforms. We demonstrate that three-dimensional plots of the random points generated by the generator have visible structures: they concentrate on particular planes in the cube. We provide a mathematical analysis of this phenomenon.

We develop a computationally efficient and robust algorithm for generating pseudo-random samples from a broad class of smooth probability distributions in one and two dimensions. The algorithm is based on inverse transform sampling with a polynomial approximation scheme using Chebyshev polynomials, Chebyshev grids, and low rank function approximation. We consider the problem of simulating a Gaussian vector X, conditional on the fact that each component of X belongs to a finite interval [a_i,b_i], or a semi-finite interval [a_i,+infty). In the one-dimensional case, we design a table-based algorithm that is computationally faster than alternative algorithms. In the two-dimensional case, we design an accept-reject algorithm. According to our calculations and our numerical studies, the acceptance rate of this algorithm is bounded from below by 0.5 for semi-finite truncation intervals, and by 0.47 for finite intervals. Extension to 3 or more dimensions is discussed.

We introduce new models of very weakly coupled logistic and tent maps for which orbits of very long period are found. The length of these periods is far greater than one billion. We introduce new families of enhanced chaotic number generators in order to compute very fast long series of pseudorandom numbers. The key feature of these generators being the use of chaotic numbers themselves for sampling chaotic subsequence of chaotic numbers in order to hide the generating function. {\em Ziggurat} and {\em Monty Python} are two fast and elegant methods proposed by Marsaglia and Tsang to transform uniform random variables to random variables with normal, exponential and other common probability distributions. While the proposed methods are theoretically correct, we show that there are various design flaws in the uniform pseudo random number generators (PRNG's) of their published implementations for both the normal and Gamma distributions \cite{Ziggurat,{Gamma},Monty}. These flaws lead to non-uniformity of the resulting pseudo-random numbers and consequently to noticeable deviations of their outputs from the required distributions. In addition, we show that the underlying uniform PRNG of the published implementation of Matlab's \texttt{randn}, which is also based on the Ziggurat method, is not uniformly distributed with correlations between consecutive pairs. Also, we show that the simple linear initialization of the registers in matlab's \texttt{randn} may lead to non-trivial correlations between output sequences initialized with different (related or even random unrelated) seeds.
