Mean equicontinity is a well studied notion for actions. We propose a definition of mean equicontinuous factor maps that generalizes mean equicontinuity to the relative context. For this we work in the context of countable amenable groups. We show that a factor map is equicontinuous, if and only if it is mean equicontinuous and distal. Furthermore, we show that a factor map is topo-isomorphic, if and only if it is mean equicontinuous and proximal. We present that the notions of topo-isomorphy and Banach proximality coincide for all factor maps. In the second part of the paper we turn our attention to decomposition and composition properties. It is well known that a mean equicontinuous action is a topo-isomorphic extension of an equicontinuous action. In the context of minimal and the context of weakly mean equicontinuous actions, respectively, we show that any mean equicontinuous factor map can be decomposed into an equicontinuous factor map after a topo-isomorphic factor map. Furthermore, for factor maps between weakly mean equicontinuous actions we show that a factor map is mean equicontinuous, if and only if it is the composition of an equicontinuous factor map after a topo-isomorphic factor map. We will see that this decomposition is always unique up to conjugacy.

Relations always play an important role in the study of topological dynamics. Proximal, distal and almost periodic relations are well studied in literature. We further this direction and analogously study the strongly proximal and weakly distal relations. This gives a new class of flows - the weakly distal flows. Veech's Theorem claims that if $G$ is a locally compact\,(LC) Hausdorff topological group, then it may act freely on $G^{\textrm{LUC}}$. We prove Veech's Theorem for $G$ being only locally quasi-totally bounded, not necessarily LC. And we show that the universal a.a. flow is the maximal almost 1-1 extension of the universal minimal a.p. flow and is unique up to almost 1-1 extensions. In particular, every endomorphism of Veech's hull flow induced by an a.a. function is almost 1-1; for $G=\mathbb{Z}$ or $\mathbb{R}$, $G$ acts freely on its canonical universal a.a. space. Reduced order modelling relies on representing complex dynamical systems using simplified modes, which can be achieved through Koopman operator analysis. However, computing Koopman eigen pairs for high-dimensional observable data can be inefficient. This paper proposes using deep autoencoders, a type of deep learning technique, to perform non-linear geometric transformations on raw data before computing Koopman eigen vectors. The encoded data produced by the deep autoencoder is diffeomorphic to a manifold of the dynamical system, and has a significantly lower dimension than the raw data. To handle high-dimensional time series data, Takens's time delay embedding is presented as a pre-processing technique. Let $\pi\colon\mathscr{X}\rightarrow\mathscr{Y}$ be an extension of minimal compact metric flows such that $\texttt{R}_\pi\not=\Delta_X$. A subflow of $\texttt{R}_\pi$ is called an M-flow if it is T.T. and contains a dense set of a.p. points. In this paper we mainly prove the following: (1) $\pi$ is PI iff $\Delta_X$ is the unique M-flow containing $\Delta_X$ in $\texttt{R}_\pi$. (2) If $\pi$ is not PI, then there exists a canonical Li-Yorke chaotic M-flow in $\texttt{R}_\pi$. In particular, an Ellis weak-mixing non-proximal extension is non-PI and so Li-Yorke chaotic. Let $G$ be a countable discrete group. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a transitive $G$-system to be disjoint with all minimal $G$-systems, which implies that if a transitive $G$-system is disjoint with all minimal $G$-systems, then it is $\infty$-transitive, i.e. $(X^k,G)$ is transitive for all $k\in\N$, and has dense minimal points. In addition, we show that any $\infty$-transitive $G$-system with dense distal points are disjoint with all minimal $G$-systems., Comment: 33pages

For a countable amenable group $G$ and a fixed dimension $m\geq 1$, we investigate when it is possible to embed a $G$-space $X$ into the $m$-dimensional cubical shift $([0,1]^m)^G$. We focus our attention on systems that arise as an extension of an almost finite $G$-action on a totally disconnected space $Y$, in the sense of Matui and Kerr. We show that if such a $G$-space $X$ has mean dimension less than $m/2$, then $X$ embeds into the $(m+1)$-dimensional cubical shift. If the distinguished factor $G$-space $Y$ is assumed to be a subshift of finite type, then this can be improved to an embedding into the $m$-dimensional cubical shift. This result ought to be viewed as the generalization of a theorem by Gutman-Tsukamoto for $G=\mathbb Z$ to actions of all amenable groups, and represents the first result supporting the Lindenstrauss-Tsukamoto conjecture for actions of groups other than $G=\mathbb{Z}^k$., Comment: 10 pages; v2 minor changes

We study directional mean dimension of $\mathbb{Z}^k$-actions (where $k$ is a positive integer). On the one hand, we show that there is a $\mathbb{Z}^2$-action whose directional mean dimension (considered as a $[0,+\infty]$-valued function on the torus) is not continuous. On the other hand, we prove that if a $\mathbb{Z}^k$-action is continuum-wise expansive, then the values of its $(k-1)$-dimensional directional mean dimension are bounded. This is a generalization (with a view towards Meyerovitch and Tsukamoto's theorem on mean dimension and expansive multiparameter actions) of a classical result due to Ma\~n\'e: Any compact metrizable space admitting an expansive homeomorphism (with respect to a compatible metric) is finite-dimensional., Comment: Comments welcome!

Step skew products with interval fibres and a subshift as a base are considered. It is proved that if the fibre maps are continuous, piecewise monotone, expanding and surjective and the subshift has the specification property and a periodic orbit such that the composition of the fibre maps along this orbit is mixing, then the corresponding step skew product has the specification property., Comment: accepted for publication in J. We study minimal $\mathbb{Z}^d$-Cantor systems and the relationship between their speedups, their collections of invariant Borel measures, their associated unital dimension groups, and their orbit equivalence classes. In the particular case of minimal $\mathbb{Z}^d$-odometers, we show that their bounded speedups must again be odometers but, contrary to the 1-dimensional case, they need not be conjugate, or even isomorphic, to the original., Comment: 37 pages

Let $X$ be a regular curve and $n$ be a positive integer such that for every nonempty open set $U\subset X$, there is a nonempty connected open set $V\subset U$ with the cardinality $|\partial_X(V)|\leq n$. We show that if $X$ admits a sensitive action of a group $G$, then $G$ contains a free subsemigroup and the action has positive geometric entropy. As a corollary, $X$ admits no sensitive nilpotent group action.

Let $\Gamma$ be a lattice in ${\rm SL}(n, \mathbb R)$ with $n\geq 3$ and $\mathcal S$ be a closed surface. Then $\Gamma$ has no distal minimal action on $\mathcal S$.

A compact space $X$ is said to be minimal if there exists a map $f:X\to X$ such that the forward orbit of any point is dense in $X$. We consider rigid minimal spaces, motivated by recent results of Downarowicz, Snoha, and Tywoniuk [J. Dyn. Diff. Eq., 2016] on spaces with cyclic group of homeomorphisms generated by a minimal homeomorphism, and results of the first author, Clark and Oprocha [ Adv. Math., 2018] on spaces in which the square of every homeomorphism is a power of the same minimal homeomorphism. We show that the two classes do not coincide, which gives rise to a new class of spaces that admit minimal homeomorphisms, but no minimal maps. We modify the latter class of examples to show for the first time the existence of minimal spaces with degenerate homeomorphism groups. Finally, we give a method of constructing decomposable compact and connected spaces with cyclic group of homeomorphisms, generated by a minimal homeomorphism, answering a question in Downarowicz et al.

In this paper, we introduce an ${\mathscr F}$-equi\-con\-ti\-nui\-ty and show an analogue of Auslander-Yorke dichotomy theorem for ${\mathscr F}$-sensitivity. Precisely, under the condition that $k{\mathscr F}$ is translation invariant, we prove that a transitive system is either ${\mathscr F}$-sensitive or almost $k{\mathscr F}$-equi\-con\-ti\-nuo\-us , and so generalize the result of previous work. Also we show that ${\mathscr F}$-equi\-con\-ti\-nui\-ty is preserved by an open factor map and consider the implication between ${\mathscr F}$-equi\-con\-ti\-nui\-ty and mean equi\-con\-ti\-nui\-ty.

We introduce and study a new variant of shadowing namely mean ergodic shadowing. We establish relationship of this variant with several other variants of shadowing. We show that a minimal system with shadowing cannot have mean ergodic shadowing. For every group $G$, we show that either $G$ has a topologically transitive action on the line $\mathbb R$ by orientation-preserving homeomorphisms, or every orientation-preserving action of $G$ on $\mathbb R$ has a wandering interval. According to this result, all groups are divided into two types: transitive type and wandering type, and the types of several groups are determined. We also show that every finitely generated orderable group of wandering type is indicable. As a corollary, we show that if a higher rank lattice $\Gamma$ is orderable, then $\Gamma$ is of transitive type., Comment: 15 pages

In this paper, we show that the action of a characteristically simple, non-extremely amenable (non-strongly amenable, non-amenable) group on its universal minimal (minimal proximal, minimal strongly proximal) flow is effective. We present necessary and sufficient conditions, for the action of a topological group with trivial center on its universal minimal proximal flow, to be effective. A theorem of Furstenberg about the isomorphism of the universal minimal proximal flows of a discrete group and its subgroups of finite index ([Theorem~II.4.4]) is strengthened. Finally, for a pair of groups $H < G$ the same method is applied in order to extend the action of $H$ on its universal minimal proximal flow to an action of its commensurator group $\mathrm{Comm}_G(H)$., Comment: 14 pages. A rotational subset, relative to a continuous transformation $T: \mathbb{T} \to \mathbb{T}$ on the unit circle, is a closed, invariant subset of $\mathbb{T}$ that is minimal and on which $T$ respects the standard orientation of the unit circle. In the case where $T$ is the standard angle doubling map, such subsets were studied by Bullet and Sentenac. The case where $T$ multiplies angles by an integer $d > 2$ was studied by Goldberg and Tresser, and Blokh, Malaugh, Mayer, Oversteegen, and Parris. These authors prove that infinite rotational subsets arise as extensions of irrational rotations of the unit circle. In this paper, we prove that such a structure theorem holds for the wider class of continuous transformations $T$ with finite fibers. Our methods are more squarely analytic in nature than the works mentioned, and hence of interest even in the cases treated by the works mentioned above. Sets of invariant measures are considered for continuous maps of a metric compact set. We take Kantorovich metric to calculate distance between measures and Hausdorff metrics to calculate distance between compact sets. Consider the function that makes correspondence between a continuous map and the set of all its Borel probability invariant measures. We demonstrate that a typical map is a continuity point of that function. Using approaches of Takens' tolerance stability theory we provide some corollaries that demonstrate that for a typical map points are structurally stable in a statistical sense., Comment: 11 pages, no figures

We prove the genericity of the shadowing and periodic shadowing properties for both conservative and dissipative homeomorphisms on a compact connected manifold. Our proof is valid for topological manifolds and still holds in the dissipative case. As a consequence of this result, we establish the genericity of the specification property, the average shadowing property and the asymptotic average shadowing property in the conservative case.

In this paper, we study affine transformations on tori, nilmanifolds and compact abelian groups. For these systems, we show that an equivalent condition for zero entropy is the orbit closure of each point has a nice structure. In this paper, we introduce a new parameter, the affine twist parameter for the affine deformation of a sphere with holes. We show that the affine deformation space can be parametrized by Margulis invariants and affine twist parameters. The dynamical system on T^2 which is a group extension over an irrational rotation on T^1 is investigated. The criterion when the extension is minimal, a system of order 2 and when the maximal equicontinuous factor is the irrational rotation is given. In this paper we present a systematic study of shadowing properties with average error in tracing such as (asymptotic) average shadowing, $\underline{d}$-shadowing, $\overline{d}$-shadowing and almost specification. As the main tools we provide a few equivalent characterizations of the average shadowing property, which also partly apply to other notions of shadowing. We prove that almost specification on the whole space induces this property on the measure center. Next, we show that always (e.g. without assumption that the map is onto) almost specification implies asymptotic average shadowing, which in turn implies the average shadowing property and consequently also $\underline{d}$-shadowing and $\overline{d}$-shadowing. Finally, we study connections among sensitivity, transitivity, equicontinuity and (average) shadowing.

In this paper we provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the amenability of the automorphism group of Fra\"iss\'e structures and apply it to prove the non-amenability of the automorphism groups of the directed graph $\mathbf{S}(3)$ and the Boron tree structure $\mathbf{T}$. Also, we provide a negative answer to the Unique Ergodicity-Generic Point problem of Angel-Kechris-Lyons [AKL]. By considering $\mathrm{GL}(\mathbf{V}_\infty)$, where $\mathbf{V}_\infty$ is the countably infinite dimensional vector space over a finite field $F_q$, we show that the unique invariant measure on the universal minimal flow of $\mathrm{GL}(\mathbf{V}_\infty)$ is not supported on the generic orbit.

The main aim of this article is to show that maps with specification property have invariant distributionally scrambled sets and that this kind of scrambled set can be transferred from factor to extension under finite-to-one factor maps. This solves some open questions in the literature of the topic. We also show how our method can be applied in practice, taking as example Poincar\'{e} map of time-periodic nonautonomous planar differential equation $$ \dot{z}=v(t,z)=(1+e^{i\kappa t}\abs{z}^2)\z^3 -N $$ where $\kappa$ and $N$ are sufficiently small positive real numbers.

This paper is a systematic study about the syndetically proximal relation and the possible existence of syndetically scrambled sets for the dynamics of continuous self-maps of compact metric spaces. Especially we consider various classes of transitive subshifts, interval maps, and topologically Anosov maps. We also present many constructions and examples.

In this note we consider dynamical systems $(X,G)$ on a Cantor set $X$ satisfying some mild technical conditions. The considered class includes, in particular, minimal and transitive aperiodic systems. We prove that two such systems $(X_1,G_1)$ and $(X_2,G_2)$ are orbit equivalent if and only if their full groups are isomorphic as abstract groups. This result is a topological version of the well-known Dye's theorem established originally for ergodic measure-preserving actions., Comment: 8 pages, references added

We investigate free product structures in R. Thompson's group V, primarily by studying the topological dynamics associated with V's action on the Cantor Set. We show that the class of free products which can be embedded into V includes the free product of any two finite groups, the free product of any finite group with Q/Z, and the countable non-abelian free groups. We give lower bounds for the size of linearization discs for power series over $\mathbb{C}_p$. For quadratic maps, and certain power series containing a `sufficiently large' quadratic term, we find the exact linearization disc. For finite extensions of $\mathbb{Q}_p$, we give a sufficient condition on the multiplier under which the corresponding linearization disc is maximal (i.e. its radius coincides with that of the maximal disc in $\mathbb{C}_p$ on which $f$ is one-to-one). In particular, in unramified extensions of $\mathbb{Q}_p$, the linearization disc is maximal if the multiplier map has a maximal cycle on the unit sphere. Estimates of linearization discs in the remaining types of non-Archimedean fields of dimension one were obtained in \cite{Lindahl:2004,Lindahl:2009,Lindahl:2009eq}. Moreover, it is shown that, for any complete non-Archimedean field, transitivity is preserved under analytic conjugation. Using results by Oxtoby \cite{Oxtoby:1952}, we prove that transitivity, and hence minimality, is equivalent the unique ergodicity on compact subsets of a linearization disc. In particular, a power series $f$ over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ is minimal, hence uniquely ergodic, on all spheres inside a linearization disc about a fixed point if and only if the multiplier is maximal. Let $\F$ be a collection of subsets of $\Z_+$ and $(X,T)$ be a dynamical system. $x\in X$ is $\F$-recurrent if for each neighborhood $U$ of $x$, $\{n\in\Z_+:T^n x\in U\}\in \F$. $x$ is $\F$-product recurrent if $(x,y)$ is recurrent for any $\F$-recurrent point $y$ in any dynamical system $(Y,S)$. It is well known that $x$ is $\{infinite\}$-product recurrent if and only if it is minimal and distal. In this paper it is proved that the closure of a $\{syndetic\}$-product recurrent point (i.e. weakly product recurrent point) has a dense minimal points; and a $\{piecewise syndetic\}$-product recurrent point is minimal. Results on product recurrence when the closure of an $\F$-recurrent point has zero entropy are obtained. It is shown that if a transitive system is disjoint from all minimal systems, then each transitive point is weakly product recurrent. Moreover, it proved that each weakly mixing system with dense minimal points is disjoint from all minimal PI systems; and each weakly mixing system with a dense set of distal points or an $\F_s$-independent system is disjoint from all minimal systems. We prove a structure theorem for topologically conservative real skew product extensions of distal minimal compact metric $\Z$-flows. The main result states that every such extension can be represented by a perturbation of a Rokhlin skew product. Moreover, we give certain counterexamples to point out that all components of the construction are in fact inevitable.

Let $K$ be a compact metrizable group and $\Ga$ be a finitely generated group of commuting automorphisms of $K$. We show that ergodicity of $\Ga$ implies $\Ga$ contains ergodic automorphisms if center of the action, $Z(\Ga) = \{\ap \in {\rm Aut}(K) \mid \ap {\rm commutes with elements of \rm} \Ga \}$ has DCC. To explain that the condition on the center of the action is not restrictive, we discuss certain abelian groups which in particular, retrieves Theorems of Berend \cite{Be} and Schmidt \cite{Sc1} proved in this context.

A weakly continuous near-action of a Polish group $G$ on a standard Lebesgue measure space $(X,\mu)$ is whirly if for every $A\subseteq X$ of strictly positive measure and every neighbourhood $V$ of identity in $G$ the set $VA$ has full measure. This is a strong version of ergodicity, and locally compact groups never admit whirly actions. On the contrary, every ergodic near-action by a Polish L\'evy group in the sense of Gromov and Milman, such as $U(\ell^2)$, is whirly (Glasner--Tsirelson--Weiss). In this paper, a general construction of a skew product dynamical system, for which the skew product dynamical system studied by Hahn is a special case, is given. Then the ergodic and topological properties (of a special type) of our newly defined systems (called Milnes type systems) are investigated. It is shown that the Milnes type systems are actually natural extensions of dynamical systems corresponding to some special distal functions. In this short note we give an answer to the following question. Let $X$ be a locally compact metric space with group of isometries $G$. Let $\{g_i\}$ be a net in $G$ for which $g_ix$ converges to $y$, for some $x,y\in X$. What can we say about the convergence of $\{g_i\}$? We show that there exist a subnet $\{g_j\}$ of $\{g_i\}$ and an isometry $f:C_x\to X$ such that $g_{j}$ converges to $f$ pointwise on $C_x$ and $f(C_x)=C_{f(x)}$, where $C_x$ and $C_y$ denote the pseudo-components of $x$ and $y$ respectively. Applying this we give short proofs of the van Dantzig--van der Waerden theorem (1928) and Gao--Kechris theorem (2003)., Comment: Shorter version submitted for publication

We study dynamical systems acting on the path space of a stationary (non-simple) Bratteli diagram. For such systems we explicitly describe all ergodic probability measures invariant with respect to the tail equivalence relation (or the Vershik map). These measures are completely described by the incidence matrix of the diagram. Since such diagrams correspond to substitution dynamical systems, this description gives an algorithm for finding invariant probability measures for aperiodic non-minimal substitution systems. Several corollaries of these results are obtained. In particular, we show that the invariant measures are not mixing and give a criterion for a complex number to be an eigenvalue for the Vershik map., Comment: 40 pages. Exposition is reworked

We show that every minimal action of any finitely generated abelian group on the Cantor set is (topologically) orbit equivalent to an AF relation. As a consequence, this extends the classification up to orbit equivalence of minimal dynamical systems on the Cantor set to include AF relations and Z^d-actions., Comment: 48 pages. Minor changes

In this paper we provide examples of topological dynamical systems having either finite or countable scrambled sets. In particular we study conditions for the existence of Li-Yorke, asymptotic and distal pairs in constant--length substitution dynamical systems. Starting from a circle rotation we also construct a dynamical system having Li--Yorke pairs, none of which is recurrent.
