With the population aging, the prevalence and mortality rate of Alzheimer's disease (AD) have been rising in China. AD has become one of the biggest threats to population health and social sustainable development. In order to support the Healthy China Initiative and promote health in China, the Blue Paper on Alzheimer's Disease in China was compiled by experts from the National Center for Neurological Disorders, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University; the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention; the National Health Commission Capacity Building and Continuing Education Center; and the China Population and Development Research Center. The epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and control of AD and related cognitive disorders in China were reviewed in this blue paper. This work aimed to provide references for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and related policy formulation of AD in China. Specifically, the blue paper covered the following topics of AD and related cognitive disorders: (1)epidemiology characteristics; (2)economic burden; (3)impact factors; (4)China Brain Cognitive Health Index; (5)the diagnosis of AD and related cognitive disorders; (6)the treatment of AD and related cognitive disorders; (7)national center for cognitive disorders;(8)community prevention and control; (9)patient care; (10)public health resources for prevention and control.

Ovarian tissue cryopreservation (OTC) is currently the exclusive choice for preserving fertility in both young girls before reaching puberty and young women who require immediate chemotherapy. Ovarian tissue transplantation has proven to be effective in restoring hormonal cycles and fertility. However, in certain cancer cases, there is a potential risk of inadvertently reintroducing malignant cells when transplanting cryopreserved ovarian tissue. Therefore, the use of an artificial ovary as an innovative and complementary approach allows for the development of isolated follicles, facilitates oocyte maturation and ovulation, and can partially restore endocrine function. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of techniques used to preserve fertility in natural ovarian tissues, including slow freezing, vitrification and hydrogel encapsulation methods. Additionally, it reviews fertility preservation techniques for artificial ovarian tissues, such as strategies involving hydrogel-encapsulated follicle, scaffolding for constructing ovarian microtissues, and 3D printing engineering. Lastly, this article explores current challenges and difficulties encountered in preserving ovarian tissue fertility, while also anticipating future trends in development, making it a valuable reference for the implementation of ovarian tissue fertility preservation.

Protein structure prediction is an important research field in life sciences and medicine, and it is also a key application scenario of artificial intelligence in scientific research. AlphaFold2 is a protein structure prediction system developed by DeepMind based on deep learning, capable of efficiently generating the atomic-scale spatial structure of a protein from the amino acid sequence. It has demonstrated superior performance in the prediction of protein structures since its inception, thus attracting much attention and research. This paper introduces the model architecture, highlights, limitations, and application progress of AlphaFold2. Furthermore, it briefs the capabilities, highlights, and limitations of several other types of protein structure prediction models and prospects the future development direction in this field.

The intestinal microbiota exhibits a strong correlation with the function of the central nervous system, exerting influence on the host brain through neural pathways, immune pathways, and microbial metabolites along the gut-brain axis. Disorders in the composition of the intestinal microbial are closely associated with the onset and progression of neurological disorders, such as depression, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. It has been proven that fecal microbiota transplantation can improve symptoms in animal models of neurological diseases and clinical patients. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the composition and function of the human intestinal microbiota, as well as the intricate the relationship between the human intestinal microbiota and nervous system diseases through the gut-brain axis. Additionally, it delves into the research advancements and underlying mechanism of fecal microbiota transplantation in the treatment of nervous system diseases. These findings offer novel insights and potential avenues for clinical interventions targeting nervous system diseases.

In recent years, nanoscale detection has played an increasingly important role in the research on viruses, exosomes, small bacteria, and organelles. The small size and complex biological natures of these particles, with the smallest known virus particle measuring only 17 nm in diameter and exosomes ranging from 30 nm to 150 nm in size, pose challenges to the classical large-scale (typically micron-scale) characterization methods, which has become a major obstacle in the research. The emergence of nanoscale detection and analysis technologies has filled the gap of optical microscopy, a conventional technique in this field. These technologies enable the sensitive and robust detection of objects that exceed the lower limit of optical detection, revealing the molecular composition and biological roles simultaneously. Currently, several commercialized instruments based on nanotechnology have emerged, providing complete single-particle detection solutions and achieving unique functionality based on their respective technological advantages. However, it is inevitable that these technologies have limitations in terms of application and detection capabilities, as they continue to evolve. This paper offers a thorough overview of the principles, advantages, limitations, and future development trends of several mainstream commercial instruments, aiming to serve researchers in selecting and utilizing these technologies.

Nanoparticles, as a novel material, have a wide range of applications in the food and biomedical fields. Nanoparticles spontaneously adsorb proteins in the biological environment, and tens or even hundreds of proteins can form protein corona on the surface of nanoparticles. The formation of protein corona on the surface of nanoparticles is one of the key factors affecting the stability, biocompatibility, targeting, and drug release properties of nanoparticles. The formation mechanism of protein corona is affected by a variety of factors, including the surface chemical properties, sizes, and shapes of nanoparticles and the types, concentrations, and pH of proteins. Studies have shown that the protein structure is associated with protein distribution on the nanoparticle surface, while the protein conformation affects the binding mode and stability of the protein on the nanoparticle surface. Since the mechanism of the formation of protein corona on the surface of nanoparticles is complex, the roles of multiple factors need to be considered comprehensively. Understanding the mechanisms and influencing factors of the formation of protein corona will help us to understand the process of protein corona formation and control the formation of protein corona for specific needs. In this paper, we summarize the recent studies on the mechanisms and influencing factors of the formation of protein corona on the surface of nanoparticles, with a view to providing a theoretical basis for in-depth research on protein corona.

Gastric cancer ranks as the third most prevalent malignant tumor in our nation, imposing a substantial health and economic burden. The occurrence of postoperative complications in gastric cancer not only hinders patient recovery but also significantly increases the medical expenditures of patients, contributing supplementary health economic challenges to both society and healthcare institutions. Conducting health economic analysis on postoperative complications in gastric cancer provides evidence for the formulation of health policies, offers guidance for hospital cost control, and furnishes economic insights for the development of new technologies in the prevention and treatment of complications. This paper, through a thorough review of domestic and international literature, comprehensively examines the impact of complication severity on healthcare expenses, delineates the principal contributors to healthcare costs in patients with postoperative complications, and proposes practical strategies to alleviate the health economic burden resulting from such complications. Furthermore, this study delves into and analyzes the health economic considerations associated with postoperative complications within the framework of the Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG) billing model.

In order to better promote the popularization and application of the national standard of Standardized Manipulations of Acupuncture and Moxibustion--Part 2： Scalp Acupuncture (GB/T 21709.2-2021), and to provide reference for the improvement and formulation of the next version, in the present paper, the differences about the position descriptions of two scalp acupuncture lines Dingnie Qianxiexian (anterior oblique line of vertex-temporal, MS6) and Dingpangxian 1 (lateral line 1 of vertex, MS8) between the new (GB/T 21709.2-2021) and old (GB/T 21709.2-2008) versions of the national standards as well as the International Standard Proposal of Scalp Acupuncture Point were compared, and the disputes still existing in the 2021 version were discussed. Although the 2021 version has made relevant amendments in some controversial or non-standard contents in the 2008 version, there are still some inappropriate contents. Firstly, only the relevant revision in the attached figure 3 was mentioned in the preface, without mention of the word revision about MS6 in both English and Chinese, but actually "Chengguang" (BL6) has been changed to "Tongtian" (BL7). Secondly, The attached figure does not match the word description. There is a revision in the attached figure and text at the same time, in which the text description of Qianding (GV21) of the MS6 has not been revised, but the front Shencong (EX-HN1) in the attached figure has been changed to GV21, which is obviously inconsistent with the positioning of the MS6 according to the WHO international standard, and the basis for the revision is not known. These revisions of the 2021 version of national standard on the position of the two scalp acupoint lines in the 2008 version are inconsistent, which may make many colleagues in the acupuncture field confused. Thus, further revision is necessary.

Lumbar intervertebral disc herniation (LDH) is a common and frequently-occurring disease, which usually causes lumbar and leg pain. Studies have shown that acupuncture can improve the symptoms of LDH patients. In the present paper, we summarize the progress of researches on the mechanisms of acupuncture underlying improvement of symptoms of LDH in recent 10 years from 1) delaying the intervertibral disc degeneration (by down-regulating the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase ［MMP］-3 and MMP-4, up-regulating the expressions of diosaccharides and polyglycoprotein, inhibiting apoptosis and promoting mitochondrial autophagy of nucleus pulposus cells, etc.), 2) maintaining spinal column stability (by relieving rachiasmus and improving lumbar flexor and extensor muscle strength, lowering the degree of polyfidus edema and fat infiltration, and restoring the biomechanics of the spine), 3) regulating inflammation (by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory factors and increasing the production of anti-inflammatory factors, etc.), 4) regulating immune response (by promoting the activity of T cells and other immune cells, lowering serum levels of MMP-3, transforming growth factor-β1 and prostaglandin E2, raising serum levels of IgA, IgG and IgM to improve immune function ), 5) modulating neural structure and function (by promoting myelin regeneration of sciatic nerve fibers, and reducing the edema of Schwann cells' cytoplasm and mitochondria, and improving neural ultrastructure, and sensory and motor functions of peripheral nerves, etc.), 6) relieving lumbar pain (by down-regulating expression of Ca 2+ /calmodulin-dependent protein kinase and activation of lumbar spinal cord glial cells, blocking nociceptive signal conduction, regulating the levels of pain-related factors, etc.), and 7) improving local microcirculation. These results may provide scientific evidence for acupuncture treatment of LDH.

Pyridaben is a broad-spectrum acaricide widely used in agriculture, accidental or self-administration of large doses of pyridaben can cause multiple organ failure in patients. Due to its damage to multiple organs and no specific antidote, the mortality rate is high. This paper reports two patients who took a large amount of pyridaben, developed severe metabolic acidosis, hyperlactatemia, toxic encephalopathy, and liver, kidney, heart and digestive tract damage. After timely gastric lavage, catharsis, organ support andblood purification treatment, the condition improved and discharged. It is expected to provide clinical ideas for the treatment of pyridaben poisoning.
