Wheat common bunt caused by Tilletia laevis (Kühn) and T. caries (Bjerk.) Wint., is one of the world's most destructive diseases (He et al., 2022). In June 2022, we observed wheat common bunt symptoms in ten fields of city Mingora in Swat District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan (35.2227°N, 72.4258°E) with spring cultivar Galaxy 2013. The corresponding disease heads were collected to isolate and characterized the causal agent of wheat common bunt. Teliospores morphology, germination, and disease symptoms revealed that fungal isolates belong to Tilletia laevis , which cause common bunt disease of wheat. After Koch's postulates, the artificially inoculated plants showed similar symptoms to those observed in the fields with same teliospores morphology and germination. Tilletia laevis was also confirmed through molecular characterization using sequence characterized amplification region (SCAR) markers specific for T. laevis and obtained 660 bp bands from leaves, stem and heads from artificially inoculated plants. The endangered Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) is a keystone species playing an essential role in ecology as well as in the social and spiritual lives of the Himalayan people. The latest estimate of the Bengal tiger population in Bhutan accounts for 103 individuals. Infectious organisms, including zoonotic parasites causing high burden in human health, have received little attention as a cause of mortality in tigers. Taeniosis/cysticercosis, caused by the cestode Taenia solium , is considered one of the major neglected tropical diseases in Southeast Asia. We present here a case of neurocysticercosis in a Bengal tiger showing advanced neurological disease outside Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. After palliative care, the animal died, and necropsy revealed multiple small cysts in the brain. Here we show the presence of two genetic variants of T. solium in the parasite material collected based on PCR and sequencing of the complete cox1 and cytB genes. The sequences form a discrete branch within the Asia plus Madagascar cluster of the parasite. On other hand, tests for feline morbillivirus, feline calicivirus, canine distemper virus, Nipah, rabies, Japanese encephalitis, feline leukaemia and feline immunodeficiency virus were negative. In contrast, PCR for feline herpesvirus was positive and a latex agglutination test revealed an elevated antibody titer against Toxoplasma gondii (titer 1:256). The molecular examination of taeniid eggs isolated from the tiger faeces produced sequences for which the highest homology in GenBank is between 92% and 94% with T. regis and T. hydatigena. This fatal case of T. solium neurocysticercosis, a disease previously unrecorded in tigers or other non-domestic felids, demonstrates an anthropogenically driven transmission of a deadly pathogen which could become a serious threat to the tiger population. Beach spider lily (Hymenocallis littoralis) is indigenous to Latin America and has been widely distributed in most of tropical countries as a regular garden plant known for its attractive flowers. In February 2022, characteristic anthracnose symptoms were observed on the leaves of spider lilies at the gardens in Bangalore, India. The associated pathogen was isolated, purified and identified as Colletotrichum sp. Phylogenetic analysis of concatenated sequence alignment of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), actin (ACT) and histone (H3) genes supported by cultural morphological characteristics revealed Colletotrichum siamense as causal agent. Pathogenicity test combined with pathogen re-isolation and identification was carried out to validate Koch's postulates. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of anthracnose caused by C. siamense on H. littoralis in India. Mites of the genus Dinogamasus are usually found in association with carpenter bees. Approximately 45 species of the genus have been described, almost all from the Oriental and Afrotropical Regions. A new species of laelapid mite, Dinogamasus kazerunensis sp. nov. associated with Xylocopa ( Koptortosoma) pubescens Spinola (Hymenoptera: Apidae), is described and illustrated. The seasonal study of wing dimorphism in the European mole cricket, Gryllotalpa gryllotalpa (Linnaeus, 1758) (Orthoptera: Gryllotalpidae), was carried out in northwest Iran. Based on present research, the long-winged (LW) morph appeared in early-mid spring when vegetation density is low and the crickets need to fly to search for food. Study of foretibiae showed that the dactyls are elongated and longer than shortwinged (SW) morph's dactyls, and that they are suitable for excavating hard soil in this period. SW adults were observed from May to July and the dactyls are shorter and broader, which are suitable for more tunneling in light soils in the middle of spring. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: A case of a rapidly fatal disease in polo horses caused by African horsesickness (AHS) virus serotype 2 is described. The pattern of polo tournaments, environmental/management conditions (moist and warm), as well as probable importation strategies with no regard for import control and quarantine, favored introduction and spread of the virus. The outbreak, which involved a large number of horses, was characterized by severe respiratory distress, fever, supraorbital edema, and death. This is the first time a widespread epidemic of AHS has been reported in Nigeria and this is the first report of AHSV serotype 2 in the northern hemisphere. In addition, we amplified the complete genome of the virus using RNA extracted from clotted blood. This report indicates that AHS is expanding its geographical territory northwards and assuming a new microbial ecology. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

• A first record of Tirumala limniace has been reported in Europe. • The pathway of arrival is still uncertain since several possibilities arise. • Nursery trade, together with their use in weddings are the most likely cause of arrival. • The arrival to the Balearic Islands reinforces the need of establishing biosecurity measures. The introduction of species by human action is one of the main causes of rarefaction and extinctions of species. This fact is especially relevant in insular ecosystems. Here, we reported for the first time the arrival of Tirumala limniace (Cramer, [1775]) from the Asian to European continent. A single specimen was recorded in the Balearic Islands, which a large list of introductions around their history. Some reasons could explain the occurrence of this species into the islands, but the most likely are the cargo and nursery trade as well as the release of specimens for weddings and other social events as well as escaped from a private butterfly's garden.
