Triethylamine (TEA) has a close relationship with us, and TEA is easy to cause great harm to human health. Therefore, in our daily life or industrial production, there is an urgent need to develop a device that can detect TEA in real time. In this work, Pt nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of WO3by the deposition method, and it was found that Pt-WO3is very sensitive when exposed to TEA. In all molar proportions, 10%Pt-WO3shows superior gas-sensitive properties (941.1 for 10 ppm at 150 °C) and fast response (Tres= 40 s, Trec= 34 s). The superior gas-sensitive properties may be due to the selective adsorption of TEA at the homogeneous Pt nanoparticle site from other volatile organic compounds.

The radiation-induced skin injury (RISI) remains a great challenge for clinical wound management and care after radiotherapy, as patients will suffer from the acute radiation injury and long-term chronic inflammatory damage during the treatment. The excessive ROS in the early acute stage and prolonged inflammatory response in the late healing process always hinder therapeutic efficiency. Herein, we developed an extracellular matrix (ECM)-mimetic multifunctional glycopeptide hydrogel (oCP@As) to promote and accelerate RISI repair via a dual-modulation strategy in different healing stages. The oCP@As hydrogel not only can form an ECM-like nanofiber structure through the Schiff base reaction but also exhibits ROS scavenging and DNA double-strand break repair abilities, which can effectively reduce the acute radiation damage. Meanwhile, the introduction of oxidized chondroitin sulfate, which is the ECM polysaccharide-like component, enables regulation of the inflammatory response by adsorption of inflammatory factors, accelerating the repair of chronic inflammatory injury. The animal experiments demonstrated that oCP@As can significantly weaken RISI symptoms, promote epidermal tissue regeneration and angiogenesis, and reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine expression. Therefore, this multifunctional glycopeptide hydrogel dressing can effectively attenuate RISI symptoms and promote RISI healing, showing great potential for clinical applications in radiotherapy protection and repair.

Microglia are the residential immune cells in the central nervous system. Their roles as innate immune cells and regulators of synaptic remodeling are critical to the development and the maintenance of the brain. Numerous studies have depleted microglia to elucidate their involvement in healthy and pathological conditions. PLX3397, a blocker of colony stimulating factor 1 receptor (CSF1R), is widely used to deplete mouse microglia due to its non-invasiveness and convenience. Recently, other small rodents, including Syrian hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) and Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus), have been recognized as valuable animal models for studying brain functions and diseases. However, whether microglia depletion via PLX3397 is feasible in these species remains unclear. Here, we administered PLX3397 orally via food pellets to hamsters and gerbils. PLX3397 successfully depleted gerbil microglia but had no effect on microglial density in hamsters. Comparative analysis of the CSF1R amino acid sequence in different species hints that amino acid substitutions in the juxtamembrane domain may potentially contribute to the inefficacy of PLX3397 in hamsters.

This work explored the fluid–structure interaction (FSI) effect of crude oil and pipeline and the vibration characteristics of the pipe–crude oil structural system. A finite element computational analysis theory and corresponding simulation method were proposed for crude oil pipelines considering the FSI effect. Meanwhile, the spring model of the FSI interface between crude oil and pipeline was proposed. The experimental simulation and neural network were adopted to obtain the flow-excited pulsation pressure (FEPP), and the kinetic equations of the pipe–crude oil FSI were analyzed. The finite element computation (FEC) model for pipe–crude oil bi-directional FSI dynamics was established, which was composed of five support span lengths and four pipe liquid levels and can provide five different crude oil fluid velocities. One hundred orthogonal simulation test conditions were designed. In addition, the displacement response and acceleration response under FSI of the pipe wall were calculated, and the first six orders of inherent frequencies and main vibration patterns of the FEC model were analyzed. The results revealed that the dynamic effect of FSI between the crude oil transport medium and pipeline was complex and was influenced by the length of the pipeline crossing section, medium flow velocity, difference of liquid surface height, and displacement response. The acceleration response possessed prominent vibration decay characteristics, and the response peak in the same condition was about 8.2 times larger than that of the steady-flow state response. Therefore, the effect changed the inherent frequency and vibration pattern of the pipeline, to which the engineering design should pay sufficient attention.

The development of high-activity photocatalysts is crucial for the current large-scale development of photocatalytic hydrogen applications. Herein, we have developed a strategy to significantly enhance the hydrogen photocatalytic activity of Cu/Pr di-atom co-modified TiO2architectures by selectively anchoring Cu single atoms on the oxygen vacancies of the TiO2surface and replacing a trace of Ti atoms in the bulk with rare earth Pr atoms. Calculation results demonstrated that the synergistic effect between Cu single atoms and Pr atoms regulates the electronic structure of Cu/Pr–TiO2, thus promoting the separation of photogenerated carriers and their directional migration to Cu single atoms for the photocatalytic reaction. Furthermore, the d-band center of Cu/Pr–TiO2, which is located at −4.70 eV, optimizes the adsorption and desorption behavior of H*. Compared to TiO2, Pr–TiO2, and Cu/TiO2, Cu/Pr–TiO2displays the best H* adsorption Gibbs free energy (−0.047 eV). Furthermore, experimental results confirmed that the photogenerated carrier lifetime of Cu/Pr–TiO2is not only the longest (2.45 ns), but its hydrogen production rate (34.90 mmol g−1h−1) also significantly surpasses those of Cu/TiO2(13.39 mmol g−1h−1) and Pr–TiO2(0.89 mmol g−1h−1). These findings open up a novel atomic perspective for the development of optimal hydrogen activity in dual-atom-modified TiO2photocatalysts.

Various yarn-shaped flexible strain sensors have recently been developed. However, research is lacking on additive manufacturing for smart clothing for integrating yarn sensors with commercial garments. Herein, a strain-sensing yarn is sewn into a piece of fabric through a novel stitching technique, and the influence of the stitching method and needle pitch on the sensing performance is investigated using finite element analysis (FEA). The sensing performance could be improved when the sensing yarn is self-locked in the fabric at the needle eyes, and the needle pitch was reduced to 0.5 cm, which is attributed to the enhanced stress and strain concentration. Meanwhile, the composite sensing fabric featured outstanding performance, including a low detection limit (0.1%), rapid response (280 ms), excellent durability (10000 cycles), and high stability (negligible drift and frequency independence). In addition, the remarkable wear resistance, washability, and anti-interference to ambient humidity and perspiration were obtained. Therein, the optimal stitch trace lengths of sensing yarn for detecting elbow motion, breathing, and heartbeats are discussed. Finally, a smart clothing system composed of smart clothing, data acquisition unit, and mobile APP was developed to simultaneously detect human movement and physiological signals. This work provides a reference to produce intelligent garments based on yarn sensors for health monitoring.

The fast dc fault current-limiting and the fast fault isolation are both necessary technologies in dc power system. In this research, a self-adaptive dc inductive superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with energy dissipation capability was proposed, which can restrict dc fault current rising-rate and amplitude at the initial stage of dc fault. At the same time, it can also accelerate the fault isolation speed of dc circuit breaker. The structure and working principle of the proposed SFCL was deeply discussed firstly, the mathematical model at different operation stages was calculated. Then, the dc short-circuit tests were carried out on the experiment platform which consist the SFCL prototype and a dc circuit breaker connected to it. Finally, according to the experiment results, the current-limiting performances of SFCL were detailedly analyzed, including the limitation rate, the fault current cleaning speed, the energy absorption, etc.

Locating distinct objects within a thick scattering medium remains a long-standing challenge in the fields of materials science, health, and engineering. Transmission Raman spectroscopy (TRS) with the use of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanoparticles has proven to be an effective approach to detect deep-seated lesions inside thick biological tissues. However, it has not yet been proven to spatially locate deep lesions in three dimensions using optical modalities. Herein, we present the concept of tomographic TRS and report its successful use for accurately locating SERS nanoparticles in elongated rod-like thick tissues. Our work starts with theoretical simulations of Raman photon propagation in tissues. We discovered a linear relationship between the Raman spectral peak ratio and propagation distance of Raman photons in tissues, allowing us to predict the location of lesions tagged by SERS NPs. Based on this, we propose a two-step tomographic TRS strategy, which includes axial scanning and ring scanning. We demonstrate the robustness of our approach using ex vivothick tissue (4.5 cm in thickness) and locate an embedded SERS phantom lesion, with a ring scanning step of 10–30°. We successfully locate multiple SERS phantom lesions in the ex vivoporcine muscle stack with high accuracy (absolute error of <2 mm). Our method is rapid, efficient, and of low cost compared to current tomographic medical imaging techniques. This work advances Raman techniques for three-dimensional positioning and offers new insights toward practical diagnosis applications.

An efficient synthesis of 1,2,5-trisubstituted benzimidazoles was explored under microwave irradiation. Twenty novel 1,2,5-trisubstituted benzimidazoles were prepared using K2CO3as an acid-binging agent starting from 2-substituted benzimidazoles and 4-substituted benzyl chloride. This method revealed broad substrate adaptability and provided the target products in moderate to excellent yield within 15 min. The effect of different substituents on the yield was investigated under the obtained optimal reaction conditions. Besides, the crystal structure of compound 4cin the orthorhombic space group P 2ac 2abwas presented. Also, the antibacterial activity of the synthesized compounds against Mycobacterium smegmatisin vitro at the cellular level was evaluated using rifampicin as a positive control. Product 4shad the best antibacterial activity among the synthesized compounds and was superior to rifampicin.

Patients with ALI (acute lung injury)/ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) are often septic and with poor prognosis, which leads to a high mortality rate of 25–40%. Despite the advances in medicine, there are no effective pharmacological therapies for ALI/ARDS due to the short systemic circulation and poor specificity in the lungs. To address this problem, we prepared TP-loaded nanoparticles (TP-NPs) through the emulsification-and-evaporation method, and then the platelet membrane vesicles were extracted and coated onto the surface of the NPs to constitute the biomimetic PM@TP-NPs. In a LPS-induced ALI mouse model, PM@TP-NPs showed good biocompatibility and biosafety, which was evidenced by no significant toxic effect on cell viability and no hemolysis of red blood cells. In ALI mice, the PM@TP-NPs showed favorable anti-inflammation and enhanced therapeutic activity of TPs compared to the free drug. Administration of PM@TP-NPs effectively inhibited lung vascular injury, evidenced by the decreased lung vascular permeability, reduced pro-inflammatory cytokine burden, evidenced by decreased inflammatory cell (macrophages, neutrophils, etc.) infiltration in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and lung tissues, and inhibited the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines and NLRP3 inflammasome activation. ALI/ARDS is defined by damage to the alveolar epithelium and endothelium; thus, effective intervention targeting pulmonary vascular endothelial cells (VECs) is crucial for the treatment of respiratory diseases. For further determination of the targeting of PM cloaked NPs, healthy mice were also administered with the same NPs. Interestingly, the PM cloaked NPs only showed highly efficient targeting to the inflamed lungs and VECs, but no accumulation in healthy lungs and VECs. The data demonstrated that this biomimetic nanoplatform could be used as a potential strategy for personalized therapies in the treatment of inflammatory diseases, such as ALI/ARDS, and even COVID-19-associated pneumonia.

• Prepartion of graphene-like 2D nanosheets are summarized in detail. • Surface functionalization of graphene-like 2D nanosheets are presented. • The anticorrosion performance, anticorrosive mechanism, and optimization measures of pure 2D nanosheets coatings and their composite coatings are reviewed. • Future development directions and challenges for graphene-like 2D nanosheets used for metal protection are proposed and discussed in detail. In recent years, graphene has been widely employed in the field of metal corrosion protection owing to its outstanding impermeability and chemical stability, with examples of such metal protection including pure graphene coatings and graphene-based composite coatings. But the conductive graphene could promote the electrochemical reaction at the interface and accelerate the corrosion of metal substrates. More emerging graphene-like 2D nanosheets are attracting research attention for the application of metal anticorrosion, because of their barrier properties and poor conductivity, mainly including boron nitride (BN), molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2), zirconium phosphate (ZrP), and titanium carbide (MXene). In this review, the application of these graphene-like 2D nanosheets to metal protection is comprehensively reviewed. First, the general preparation methods of 2D nanosheets are briefly introduced. Second, surface functionalization of 2D nanosheets, including covalent and non-covalent modification, is described in detail. Third, the anticorrosion performance and optimization measures of pure 2D nanosheets coatings are summarized. Next, the protection performance, anticorrosive mechanism, and optimizations of 2D nanosheets composite coatings are presented. Finally, the future development of 2D nanosheets-based anticorrosive coatings has been prospected, and the challenges in the industrial application are discussed. With the increase of penetration rate of renewable energy sources (RESs), the uncertainty of RESs has raised higher requirements for the flexibility and reliability of energy system. This paper proposes a flexibility and reliability coordinated optimization scheduling model of electricity-gas-heat integrated energy system (IES) to fully exploit the potential of coupling and complementary coordination among electricity, gas and heat energy. According to the interval of net load diversification, the expressions of the flexibility demand and flexibility resources of the multi-energy system are derived, in which the dynamic characteristics (DCs) model of natural gas pipelines and heat flow are established respectively. The evaluation indices of IES operating flexibility and reliability are derived respectively, and the coordination index between flexibility and reliability are defined. Based on the cost-benefit analysis method and equal-response risk method, an IES optimal scheduling model is established, which takes into account the coordination effect of operational flexibility and energy supply reliability. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations are conducted on the modified IES 24-20-16 system and IES 118-20-16 system. The results demonstrate that this approach effectively balances the flexibility, reliability and economy of the system.

Flexible strain sensors are in high demand for the detection of polymorphic changes in smart wearable devices, particularly in response to the tensile and pressure stimuli of the human body. Herein, conductive and elastic nanofiber yarns were combined by electrospun carbon nanohybrids/thermoplastic polyurethane composite nanofiber bundles using a lab-made self-bonding device and surface micro-dissolution of nanofibers. Subsequently, machine-knitted pure nanofiber yarn fabrics were directedly utilized as three-directional strain sensors for transverse tensile, longitudinal tensile, and vertical pressure. The sensing performance of these sensors was regulated by designing three different textures with varying loop structures. The resulting nanofiber fabric sensors exhibited significant tensile sensing anisotropy. The relative resistance change of a double-sided fabric with fully overlapped loops under 50 % longitudinal strain was found to be 88 times higher than that under transverse strain (only −1 %). Additionally, the sensor demonstrated outstanding pressure sensing capabilities, with a wide range of 0.05–100 kPa, a high sensitivity of 7.49 kPa−1(compared to 0.028 kPa−1for single-sided fabric), good linearity up to 0.99, and reliable durability exceeding 2000 cycles. A finite element model of stress distribution revealed the sensing mechanism, showing that fabrics with greater intersection points and overlap areas of yarn experienced lower tension levels under transverse stretching, increased transverse contraction under longitudinal stretching, and a higher degree of stress concentration under pressure. To complement the fabric sensors, stretchable wires with a resistance change of less than 0.5 Ω/cm under 50 % elongation and tiny electrodes unaffected by external forces were designed. Finally, the fabric sensors were perfectly integrated into smart sports bandages and football socks to monitor vital signals. This facile and scalable approach offers a promising strategy for the development of tensile/pressure sensing fabrics applied in washable smart textiles.

Liquid metals (LMs) have emerged as promising functional materials that combine the properties of both liquid and metal. These characteristics enabled them to find applications in many fields. However, the LMs usually can only display a silver-white physical appearance, which limits their further applications in the fields with the imposition of stringent requirements for color and aesthetics. Herein, we report that the surface of LMs was transformed directly from metal to fluorescent semiconductor layer by an example of eutectic GaInSn (eGaInSn) induced by thermal oxidation. Specifically, a core–shell structure is formed from the fluorescent layer and the LMs. The shell endows the LMs with fluorescence without affecting their interior fluidity and conductivity. In particular, the formation process as well as the degree of crystallization, phase transformation, and light emission of the fluorescent oxide shell on the surface of LMs is regulated by the component content. A thorough analysis of surface morphology, composition, structure, and properties of the fluorescent shell suggests that the Ga2O3layer is formed on the surface of gallium-based LMs after their immersion in deionized water. Subsequently, thermal oxidation results in the formation of the β-Ga2O3shell on the surface of liquid metals. Importantly, abundant oxygen vacancies (VO) in β-Ga2O3as the donors and the gallium vacancies (VGa), gallium–oxygen vacancy pairs (VO–VGa), defect energy levels, and intrinsic defects as the acceptors enabled the light emission. The fluorescent LMs have promising potential for flexible lighting and displays, anticounterfeiting measures, sensing, and chameleon robots.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanotags have garnered much attention for in vivoand intraoperative imaging due to their high sensitivity and intrinsic fingerprint spectrum. Recently, in vivobioimaging at the second biological near-infrared (NIR-II) window has demonstrated significant advances with better spatial resolution and deeper tissue penetration. The development of SERS nanotags at the NIR-II window are therefore highly desired. The resonant strategy, i.e., the use of resonant substrates and resonant molecules, can be helpful in fabricating bright SERS nanotags at the NIR-II window; however, this strategy has not been demonstrated with the lack of quantitative assessments. Here we report a quantitative study on the Raman enhancements of the resonant strategy in preparing NIR-II SERS nanotags. By comparing the resonant and nonresonant plasmonic nanorod substrates, the resonant substrates have been shown to provide an enhancement factor of up to 4 orders of magnitude. When using the resonant Raman reporter molecules, SERS intensities can be further increased by 25–546 times. This work demonstrates the potential of the resonant strategy in fabricating ultrasensitive NIR-II SERS nanotags and provides insights into the design of related plasmonic devices.

Boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) possess many unmatched properties, including satisfactory thermal conductivity and stability, excellent mechanical performance, and wide band gap. Nevertheless, the highly efficient exfoliation and functionalization of BNNSs still remain an enormous challenge. In our work, we presented a facile synergistical exfoliation and functionalization method to acquire OH-functionalized BNNSs (BNNS-OH) via calcination, plasma treatment, and ultrasonic exfoliation with a high yield and a large concentration. Under the optimized conditions, the yield and dispersion concentration of BNNS-OH can reach 80.1% and 5 mg/mL, respectively. In addition, the as-prepared BNNS-OH could be used as a green water-based lubricant nanoadditive and corrosion inhibitor on metals, which decreased the friction coefficient from 0.350 to 0.335 and corrosion current density from 3.54 × 10–4A/cm2to 1.38 × 10–4A/cm2. More importantly, this proposed synergistical exfoliation and functionalization method proved to be a universal method for the exfoliation and functionalization of other two-dimensional materials such as graphite and boron.

A liquid metal (LM) generally has excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, flexibility, fluidity, and reflectivity. Innovative electronics using a LM to paint colorful fluorescent patterns may be applied to many important fields. Herein we propose, for the first time, the use of a LM to paint fluorescent patterns in the field of natural science. An LM containing a main-group metal (Ga50.25Bi8.28In28.2Sn13.27) is used to paint a uniform alloy film on a ceramic substrate. The painting is not restricted by any curved surface, shape, or size, which therefore gives the LM diverse adaptability. We have adopted the strategy of “painting–annealing–dealloying” through which LM can easily be diffused and doped into the substrate to produce various defects. Defects, my themselves or through their interactions, can produce different colors of emitted light. The primary fluorescence colors, such as purple, yellow, blue, and white, have been painted with the LM. Importantly, the brightness and color coordinates can be adjusted by changing the LM composition or annealing temperature, and intricate, delicate, colorful fluorescence patterns can be produced. Due to the unique painting form, colorful fluorescence, high stability, corrosion resistance, and low cost of the technique used for the LM, it can be used for displays, lighting panels, flexible electronic circuits, anticounterfeiting devices, and sensors.

Single-atom photocatalysts have received a lot of attention owing to their high catalytic activity. It is vital that single atoms are highly dispersed on the surface of the catalyst for them to contribute their activity. However, the number of highly dispersed single atoms on the surface is limited by the agglomeration at higher loading concentrations or by the small specific surface area of the catalyst. In this study, TiO2nanoparticles modified with single Cu atoms were synthesized by hydrothermal method with a high specific surface area (158.23 m2g−1) and thus enhanced the exposure rate of single Cu atoms. The Cu–TiO2exhibited a higher hydrogen evolution rate (21.053 mmol g−1h−1) than other TiO2-based photocatalysts in previous reports and showed good stability after a long-term catalysis test (the hydrogen evolution efficiency barely decreased in a 30 hour catalytic reaction and in a 84-day long-term catalytic test). Moreover, the optimized sample exhibits an apparent quantum efficiency of 13.61% at 365 nm. The study builds the foundation to design the advanced material for excellent photocatalytic activity as well as durability.

Chemotherapy is the main treatment for cancer therapy. However, its anti-tumor efficiency is always impaired by the poor bioavailability and low tumor accumulation of chemotherapeutic drugs. The variation between the tumor microenvironment and normal tissue has been recognized as an effective tool to improve drug anti-tumor efficiency. Herein, we developed an injectable, pH-responsive, in situself-assembled drug-peptide hydrogel (MTX-KKFKFEFEF(DA)) for highly efficient local tumor chemotherapy with few side effects. The small molecule drug, methotrexate (MTX), and pH-responsive linker, 2,3-dimethylmaleic anhydride (DA), were facilely conjugated onto the chain of the KKFKFEFEF peptide viaan amidation reaction. The negatively charged drug-peptide (pH 7.4) can be activated to be positive and achieve a sol–gel phase transition under an acidic microenvironment (pH 6.5) both in vitroand in vivo, resulting in highly efficient cellular uptake and endocytosis capacities. Moreover, the in vivoanti-tumor therapeutic effect revealed that the MTX-KKFKFEFEF(DA) hydrogel exhibits long-term tumor retention time, much better tumor inhibition rate and negligible side effects after intratumoral injection into breast tumor-bearing mice. Therefore, this study reveals a versatile strategy for fabricating a pH-responsive drug-peptide hydrogel to improve the chemotherapeutic efficacy of drugs in cancer treatment.

Raffinose family oligosaccharides (RFOs) are accumulated during the late stage of seed development and hydrolyzed during seed germination. The process of raffinose hydrolysis during seed germination and how this process affects seed vigor remains unknown. We report here that maize alkaline α-galactosidase 1 (ZmAGA1) protein is translationally induced and is capable of hydrolyzing RFOs as well as a precursor, galactinol, during seed germination. Constitutively overexpressing ZmAGA1 in Arabidopsisdecreased both RFOs and galactinol contents of mature, desiccated, and 30 hours after imbibition (HAI) seeds, yet enhanced the seed germination percentage under either salt or somewhat osmotic-stress conditions at earlier times during the time course. However, ZmAGA1 overexpression also decreased the seed aging tolerance of mature, desiccated seeds as compared with wild type (WT) or those overexpressing GFP. Compared to that of WT control seeds, the atsip2 (mutant of Arabidopsis AtSIP2 (seed imbibition protein2, encoding alkaline α-galactosidase)) seeds have similar RFOs and galactinol contents in mature, desiccated seeds but significantly increased the amount of these metabolites at 30 HAI. This retention of RFOs and galactinol in atsip2 results in seeds that exhibit lowered seed germination percentage under either salt or osmotic stress conditions, and yet, increased seed aging tolerance relative to WT. Similarly, when maize seeds were imbibed in the presence of a specific α-galactosidase inhibitor (1-deoxygalactonojirimycin) as compared to those imbibed in water, greater amounts of raffinose and galactinol were detected; the seeds exhibited decreased seed germination percentages but increased seed aging tolerance. Taken together, these data suggest that both maize seed germination and seed aging tolerance can be simultaneously regulated through careful temporal manipulation of ZmAGA1 expression.

An ultrasonic-assisted synthesis of bis-isoxazole derivatives was developed. Eight 3-(6-chloropyridin-3-yl)-5-{[(3-arylisoxazol-5-yl)methoxy]methyl}isoxazoles were synthesized by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction between substituted isoxazolyl alkyne compounds and 6-chloro-N-hydroxynicotinimidoyl chloride. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by HRMS, FTIR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Wherein, the antifungal and antibacterial activities of target compounds were tested. The synthesized compounds 6a and 6h exhibited better antifungal activity in comparison with the standard drug itraconazole. The minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs) of both compound 6a and compound 6h were both 4 µg/mL against Candida albicans ATCC 10231.

An efficient and facile method was introduced for the synthesis of benzimidazoles in this paper. The optimum reaction conditions were determined. A series of benzimidazoles bearing phenolic hydroxyl(2a—2t) were synthesized in moderate to excellent yields starting from differently substituted hydroxyl benzaldehyde and 4-position substituted o-phenylenediamine vianu-cleophilic addition in the presence of catalyst Na2S2O5under microwave irradiation condition. Herein, effects of the catalyst, molar ratio of reactants, reaction temperature and solvent were investigated. The optimal reaction condition was determined. The effect of DMF and EtOH solvent on the reaction was compared. The synthesized compounds were characterized by FTIR, HRMS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. Further, the bacteriostatic activities of the synthesized compounds were evaluated with ciprofloxacin and itraconazole as a positive control, respectively. Compounds 2b, 2n, 2q and 2r exhibited some antibacterial activity. The lowest MIC of antibacterial activity of compound 2b was 32 µg/mL. Meanwhile, the luminescence property of compound 2b was studied. The antibacterial activity of compound 2b, along with their good fluorescence performance highlighted the potential of these compounds as lead structures and owned fluorescence trace for further study towards the development of novel drugs and functional mechanisms in living organisms.
