Abstract

Fabrication and characterization of solution-processed, all-inorganic quantum dots (QDs) light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) incorporating colloidal CdSe/ZnS QDs are presented. Using a simple solvothermal process, Cu-doped NiO nanocrystals were fabricated and applied as a hole transport layer in all inorganic QLEDs. Cu-doped NiO nanocrystals are ascribed to bunsenite cubic structure. The transmittance of the film is more than 81%. The hole-only devices of Au/QDs/Cu–NiO/ITO structures showed that 5% mol Cu doped NiO film obtained the largest hole current. The resulting devices show pure QD electroluminescent emissions with a maximum electroluminescence brightness of 2258 cd/m2after doping 5% mol Cu in NiO, which is almost 4-fold compared with that of intrinsic NiO due to the enhanced carrier concentration and conductivity. The current efficiency and EQE of the assembled all-inorganic QLED exhibited the maximum values of 1.18 cd/A and 1.223%, respectively.

According to complex geological conditions of working face E1108 in Xin-ji mine #2, loading and running characteristic of hydraulic support, influence of depression angle on mining pressure behaviors, as well as relation between advancing speed and the support loading were measured and analyzed. The results indicate that depression angle is inversely proportional to support resistance, in other words, larger depression angle area coincides with lower support resistance area. Moreover, support resistance is generally high when working face advancing speed is slow. Technologies for controlling hydraulic support stability such as improving advancing speed properly, controlling mining height and increasing support resistance are put forward based on research.

Salinity is one of the most important abiotic stresses that adversely affects crop growth and productivity. A subtractive suppression hybridization (SSH) library were constructed from the roots of salt-sensitive Yulu cultivar melon seedlings under salt stress; 557 high-quality expressed sequence tags (ESTs) were randomly sequenced, with an average size of 428 bp, which assembled into 68 contigs and 315 singletons. Compared with our previous SSH library generated from the salt-tolerant Bingxuecui cultivar, the proportion of transcripts involved in metabolism, protein fate, cellular communication/signal transduction mechanisms, and cell rescue/defense were 4, 1.46, 0.94, and 0.4% higher, respectively, in the salt-tolerant cultivar than the in salt-sensitive cultivar. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis of eleven transcripts revealed temporal variations in their expression in the two cultivars under salt stress. One NACgene (JZ477011) was heterologously expressed in yeast for functional characterization, and enhanced the sensitivity of yeast cells to high-salinity to salt stress and inhibited their growth. Information regards to their functions would aid in the understanding of response mechanisms to saline stress and in the development of molecular markers for selecting salt-tolerant melon cultivars.

To investigate if resveratrol prevent the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening through inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). Methods: Rat heart tissue-derived cardiac H9c2 myoblast cell line was cultured. Fluorescence images of mitochondrial membrane potential were obtained with confocal microscopy. Western blotting analyzes the ERS marker protein GRP78 expression. Transmission electron microscopy detects the subcellular structure. Results: Exposure of cardiac H9c2 cells to 100 μM 2-DG, the ERS inducer, for 20 min caused a marked decrease in mitochondrial specific tetramethylrhodamine ethyl ester (TMRE) fluorescence. Resveratrol significantly prevented the loss of TMRE fluorescence. Western blotting revealed that resveratrol decreased GRP78 expression. Experiments with transmission electron microscopy revealed that resveratrol prevented 2-DG-induced swelling of endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondrial damages. Conclusions: These data suggest that inhibition of ERS leads to the prevention of mPTP opening. Resveratrol prevents the mPTP opening through inhibition of ERS.

By numerical simulation and contrasting with experimental conclusions, mechanical models in every loading stage of CFRP reinforced concrete bridge deck were established. The results showed that, numerical simulation results of non-prestressed bridge decks fitted corresponding test results well. The stiffness of prestressed structures had been greatly improved than non-prestressed structures, so the high strength performance of CFRP had been used more effectively.

In order to improve bridges durability, this paper designed a kind of bridge deck with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) bar reinforced concrete deck, which is salt and corrosion resistant. Through model test, the relationship between load and displacement, ultimate flexural capacity, stress distribution of CFRP bars, concrete strain distribution of the new bridge deck with different CFRP ratio was investigated. New bridge decks present characteristics of partial plastic failure, has similar structure strain trends and stress distribution compared with steel reinforced concrete decks, and accord with plane section assumption. The bond force, between CFRP bar and concrete, controll the flexural capacity of new bridge decks.

A new hyphomycete species, Solicorynespora lasianthisp. nov. is described and illustrated from dead branches of Lasianthus chinensis. It is characterized by its monotretic conidiogenous cells producing solitary, ellipsoidal to cylindrical, versicolored and 2-septate conidia. Chaetendophragmia britannica, Corynesporopsis cylindrica, Moorella monocephalaare new records for China. These four species are compared and contrasted with similar species.

Two new conidial fungi, Corynesporopsis liquidambarissp. nov. and Hemicorynespora dimocarpisp. nov., occurring on dead branches of Liquidambar formosanaand Dimocarpus longgana, respectively, are described and illustrated. The first species is characterized by its terminal monotretic conidiogenous cells with short catenate, naviculiform to ellipsoidal, medianly 1-septate conidia. The second species differs from the previously described Hemicorynesporaspecies in mitre-shaped to elongate-oval conidia with a conspicuous truncate basal papilla. H. clavatais recorded for the first time from China. A key to Hemicorynesporaspecies is provided.

Four dematiaceous hyphomycetes collected during our continuing mycological survey of saprobic conidial fungi on decaying plant material in tropical forests of southern China, are described and illustrated. Among them, Quadracaea roureaeis described as a new species. Phaeoblastophora resinae, Phragmocephala atravar. stenophoraand Pseudospiropes nodosusare newly recorded from China.

Pseudospiropes linderae sp. nov., occurring on dead branches of Lindera glauca in China, is described and illustrated. It differs from previously described Pseudospiropes species in its comparatively smaller, ellipsoidal and 3-distoseptate conidia. Minimelanolocus hughesii and M. olivaceus are recorded for the first time from China. A key to Pseudospiropes species is provided.

By a simple and facile wet‐chemistry technique without any surfactant, various shapes of Ag2S crystals—including leaflike pentagonal nanoplates, crinkly nanoscrolls, hexagonal prismlike microtubes, and microrods—were fabricated in situ on a large‐area silver‐foil surface separately. Detailed experiments revealed that the Ag2S nanoplates were formed just by immersing the silver foil in a sulfur/ethanol solution at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, and they subsequently rolled into nanoscrolls and further grew into microtubes and microrods under solvothermal conditions. Inspired by the natural curling of a piece of foliage, we proposed a surfactant‐free rolling mechanism to interpret the observed morphological evolution from lamellar to tubular structures. Based on these simple, practical, and green chemical synthetic routes, we can easily synthesize lamellar, scrolled, tubular, and clubbed Ag2S crystals by simply adjusting the reaction temperature, pressure, and time. It is very interesting to note that the current rolling process is quite different from the previous reported rolling mechanism that highly depends on the surfactants; we revealed that the lamellar Ag2S could be rolled into tubular structures without using any surfactant or other chemical additives, just like the natural rolling process of a piece of foliage. Therefore, this morphology‐controlled synthetic route of Ag2S crystals may provide new insight into the synthesis of metal sulfide semiconducting micro‐/nanocrystals with desired morphologies for further industrial applications. The optical properties of the pentagonal Ag2S nanoplates/film were also investigated by UV/Vis and photoluminescence (PL) techniques, which showed large blue‐shift of the corresponding UV/Vis and PL spectra.

Hairball-like bismuth trisulphide microcrystallines has been successfully prepared via one step solvothermal process and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) techniques. The morphologies of the Bi2S3 microcrystallines were influenced by reaction time, temperature, the mole ratio of the reactants and concentration of starting materials, and the growth process has been proposed. The electrochemical behavior of Bi2S3 was investigated using the cyclic voltammetry.
