Objective Children with cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) are at increased risk for Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB), particularly Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). At our institution, routine screening for SDB is performed using the Chevrin Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire (PSQ). This analysis is a practice audit looking at the outcomes of screening children with CL/P.Design/Setting/Patients/Participants A single-center, retrospective analysis was done of all non-syndromic patients with CL/P over the age of 36 months over a 4-year period. Children with known OSA were eliminated from analysis.Main Outcome Measures Univariate logistic regression was used to assess predictors for SDB (PSQ score > 8) amongst various patient, disease, and treatment characteristics. Outcomes of those screened were tracked.Results Of the 239 patients in the study cohort, 43 (18%) had positive PSQs. These subjects were more likely to have class III dental occlusion with maxillary retrusion (OR = 2.65, 95% CI: 1.2–5.8, p = 0.02). There were no differences amongst age, type of cleft, Veau classification, BMI, or history of pharyngeal surgery. One third of the group did not complete recommended testing. Twenty-five subjects with positive sleep screening underwent subsequent polysomnography and 21 (84%) had OSA.Conclusion Routine screening reveals a significant proportion of patients with CL/P with symptoms suggestive of OSA. While several patients did not complete confirmatory testing, those who completed a PSG had a high rate of identification of OSA. After excluding children with known OSA, patients with SDB are also likely to have class III dental occlusion and maxillary retrusion.

Understanding how a subset of expressed genes dictates cellular phenotype is a considerable challenge owing to the large numbers of molecules involved, their combinatorics and the plethora of cellular behaviours that they determine1,2. Here we reduced this complexity by focusing on cellular organization—a key readout and driver of cell behaviour3,4—at the level of major cellular structures that represent distinct organelles and functional machines, and generated the WTC-11 hiPSC Single-Cell Image Dataset v1, which contains more than 200,000 live cells in 3D, spanning 25 key cellular structures. The scale and quality of this dataset permitted the creation of a generalizable analysis framework to convert raw image data of cells and their structures into dimensionally reduced, quantitative measurements that can be interpreted by humans, and to facilitate data exploration. This framework embraces the vast cell-to-cell variability that is observed within a normal population, facilitates the integration of cell-by-cell structural data and allows quantitative analyses of distinct, separable aspects of organization within and across different cell populations. We found that the integrated intracellular organization of interphase cells was robust to the wide range of variation in cell shape in the population; that the average locations of some structures became polarized in cells at the edges of colonies while maintaining the ‘wiring’ of their interactions with other structures; and that, by contrast, changes in the location of structures during early mitotic reorganization were accompanied by changes in their wiring.

Polymer electrolytes are commonly studied as potential solid replacements for conventional liquid electrolytes to enable the design of rechargeable batteries with a lithium metal anode. Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) has been studied extensively and serves as the foundation for advanced systems. We present the first full electrochemical characterization of this system at high salt concentrations above r= 0.30, where ris the molar ratio of lithium ions to ethylene oxide in the electrolyte. Above r= 0.28, we observe two coexisting phases: an amorphous phase with r= 0.28 and a crystalline phase with r= 0.50. We measure the limiting current, the maximum current that can be applied to an electrolyte before the time-dependent potential diverges exponentially, and find that at r= 0.50, the limiting current is essentially zero. This indicates that r= 0.50 is the solubility limit for PEO/LiTFSI. Based on this solubility limit, we use concentrated solution theory to predict the limiting current below r= 0.50. The theory and experiments agree qualitatively but not quantitatively because the theory was developed for single-phase systems.

Reactions of cerium and nickel in excess molten gallium were monitored by neutron diffraction during heating and cooling. The formation of binary intermediates CeGa2and Ni2Ga3was observed during heating. During cooling of the molten mixture from 900 °C, precipitation of BaAl4-type CeNi0.74Ga3.26occurred at 850 °C. Upon cooling to 650 °C, this compound reacted in the flux to form Ce2NiGa10and then Ce2NiGa12, the latter of which persisted to room temperature. Making use of this information, subsequent reactions were quenched at 750 °C to isolate crystals of CeNi0.74Ga3.26for further study. Similar reactions replacing Ce with La and quenching above 750 °C yielded LaNi0.35Ga3.65crystals. Magnetic susceptibility studies on CeNi0.74Ga3.26indicate that the cerium is trivalent; the Ce3+moments undergo a strongly anisotropic ferromagnetic ordering with moment perpendicular to the caxis below 7 K. Heat capacity data show little evidence of heavy fermion behavior. Resistivity measurements show that both LaNi0.35Ga3.65and CeNi0.74Ga3.26exhibit metallic behavior. Density of states calculations support this and indicate that Ni/Ga mixing in the compound stabilizes the structure.

Approximately 60% of patients with large B cell lymphoma treated with chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies targeting CD19 experience disease progression, and neurotoxicity remains a challenge. Biomarkers associated with resistance and toxicity are limited. In this study, single-cell proteomic profiling of circulating CAR T cells in 32 patients treated with CD19-CAR identified that CD4+Helios+CAR T cells on day 7 after infusion are associated with progressive disease and less severe neurotoxicity. Deep profiling demonstrated that this population is non-clonal and manifests hallmark features of T regulatory (TReg) cells. Validation cohort analysis upheld the link between higher CAR TRegcells with clinical progression and less severe neurotoxicity. A model combining expansion of this subset with lactate dehydrogenase levels, as a surrogate for tumor burden, was superior for predicting durable clinical response compared to models relying on each feature alone. These data credential CAR TRegcell expansion as a novel biomarker of response and toxicity after CAR T cell therapy and raise the prospect that this subset may regulate CAR T cell responses in humans.

As culturally important fisheries for Walleye Sander vitreusexhibit declining densities and reductions in natural recruitment, stocking has increased in popularity as a management tool in Wisconsin’s Ceded Territory. Walleyes were stocked in an average of 160 lakes per year in the 1980s compared with 223 lakes per year in the 2010s. However, many Walleye fingerling stocking events are unsuccessful, with zero or few fish being detected as yearlings in electrofishing surveys the following year. We integrated 31 years of stocking and electrofishing data with lake habitat characteristics to identify factors that influence stocked fingerling survival, measured by the number of individuals stocked compared with those sampled in stocking evaluation surveys. Notably, 21% of stocking events exhibited zero returns in the following year. To handle the prominence of zeros, we used a zero‐inflated mixed‐effects model to test for effects of stocking practices and lake attributes along with lake‐level random effects. Our results suggest that the average length and stocking density are important stocking‐practice‐level characteristics, while water clarity, water temperature, and lake surface area are important lake‐level characteristics for predicting survival. Concerningly, we found a significant reduction in stocked fingerling survival through time. Managers should weigh these factors when determining whether stocking is worthwhile for the system in question and, if so, when selecting a stocking product. Although overall survival of stocked fingerlings is relatively low, better understanding stocking efficacy can help managers maximize utility of limited resources. Future work should assess stocking success in the context of recruitment to the fishery or return to creel. In light of recent work on Walleye fishery collapses and shifting environmental conditions, managers need to temper presumptions of Walleye stocking success and shepherd realistic expectations of stocking utility in regional Walleye rehabilitation efforts.

Polyacetal electrolytes have been demonstrated as promising alternatives to liquid electrolytes and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries; however, the relationship between polymer structure and ion motion is difficult to characterize. Here, we study structure–property trends in ion diffusion with respect to polymer composition for a systematic series of five polyacetals with varying ratios of ethylene oxide (EO) to methylene oxide (MO) units, denoted as P(xEO-yMO), and PEO. We first use 7Li and 19F pulsed-field-gradient NMR spectroscopy to measure cation and anion self-diffusion, respectively, in polymer/lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) salt mixtures. At 90 °C, we observe modest changes in Li+diffusivity across all polymer compositions, while anion (TFSI–) self-diffusion coefficients decrease significantly with increasing MO content. At a given reduced temperature (T– Tg), all polyacetal electrolytes exhibit faster Li+self-diffusion than PEO. Intriguingly, P(EO-MO) and P(EO-2MO) also show slower TFSI–anion self-diffusion than PEO at a given reduced temperature. Molecular dynamics simulations reveal that shorter distances between acetal oxygen atoms (O–CH2–O) compared to ether oxygens (O–CH2–CH2–O) promote more diverse, often asymmetric, Li+coordination environments. Raman spectra reveal that anion-rich ion clusters in P(EO-MO) and P(EO-2MO) lead to decreased anion diffusivity, which along with increased cation diffusivity, support the viability of polyacetals as high-performance polymer electrolytes.

Domestic dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) are estimated to be one of the most globally abundant invasive carnivores that threaten wildlife. Madagascar is home to large populations of free-roaming dogs and is a highly diverse and anthropogenically threatened environment, making it one of the world's top conservation priorities. Comparatively little is known about human-dog relationships in developing countries such as Madagascar. We surveyed non-dog owners and dog owners visiting free mobile veterinary clinics in their communities around Ranomafana National Park (RNP) and Andasibe-Mantadia National Park (AMNP) to understand human-dog relationships, gain insight on free-roaming dog behavior, and to assess the feasibility of humane population control measures. Amongst dog owners, the vast majority of respondents reported owning their dog for protection and a significant number had dogs for companionship. Our results indicate that free-roaming (owned, unconfined) dogs may be an underappreciated threat to endemic wildlife in the National Parks of Madagascar, as nearly half of dog owners reported that their dog killed at least one wild animal a month. Most dog owners in surveyed communities approve of spay/neuter/vaccine programs and state that they would use them if freely available, indicating that veterinary intervention can be an important tool in humanely controlling free-roaming dog populations in these regions.

We study the phase behavior of a triblock organic–inorganic hybrid copolymer, poly(polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane)-b-poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane) (POSS-PEO-POSS)/lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) salt mixture, as a function of temperature. The polymer exhibits a lamellar morphology both in the neat state and in the presence of salt. However, the average grain size increases substantially when the electrolyte is heated above 113 °C. The grain structure of this sample changes reversibly with temperature, that is, smaller grains reappear when the electrolyte is cooled below 113 °C. While annealing block copolymers at high temperatures often leads to an increase in the grain size, this change is generally irreversible. The reason for the reversible change in the grain structure of the POSS-PEO-POSS/LiTFSI electrolyte is discussed. The ionic conductivity of the electrolyte also exhibits reversible changes in this temperature window. Knowledge of the grain structure is crucial for understanding ion transport in nanostructured electrolytes.

Poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (PEO–POSS) mixed with lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide salt is a nanostructured hybrid organic–inorganic block copolymer electrolyte that may enable lithium metal batteries. The synthesis and characteristics of three PEO–POSS block copolymer electrolytes which only differ by their POSS silica cage substituents (ethyl, isobutyl, and isooctyl) is reported. Changing the POSS monomer structure results in differences in both thermodynamics and ion transport. All three neat polymers exhibit lamellar morphologies. Adding salt results in the formation of a disordered window which closes and gives way to lamellae at higher salt concentrations. The width of disordered window decreases with increasing length of the POSS alkyl chain substituent from ethyl to isobutyl and is absent in the isooctyl sample. Rheological measurements demonstrate good mechanical rigidity when compared with similar all‐organic block copolymers. While salt diffusion coefficient and current ratio are unaffected by substituent length, ionic conductivity increases as the length of the alkyl chain substituent decreases: the ethyl substituent is optimal for ion transport. This is surprising because conventional wisdom suggests that ion transport occurs primarily in the PEO‐rich domains, that is, ion transport should be unaffected by substituent length after accounting for the minor change in conducting phase volume fraction. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We compare the electrochemically measured Sand’s time, the time required for the cell potential to diverge when the applied current density exceeds the limiting current, with theoretical predictions for a 0.47 M poly(ethylene oxide) (5 kg mol−1)/LiTFSI electrolyte. The theoretical predictions are made using concentrated solution theory which accounts for both concentration polarization and polymer motion, using independently measured parameters that depend on concentration, c: conductivity (κ), salt diffusion coefficient (D), cationic transference number with respect to the solvent velocity (t+0), thermodynamic factor 1+dlnf±dlnc,and partial molar volume of the salt (V̅); f±is the mean molar activity coefficient of the salt. We find quantitative agreement between experimental data and theoretical predictions. We derive a generalized analytical expression for Sand’s time for electrolytes based on dilute solution theory. This expression correctly predicts the divergence of the Sand’s time at the limiting current, in agreement with experimental data and concentrated solution theory predictions. When the applied current is large compared to the limiting current, the analytical expression approaches the standard expression for Sand’s time used in the literature.

Concentrated solution theory has furthered our understanding of ion transport in electrolytes. This theory can be used to predict salt concentration profiles under an applied current if the transport properties of the electrolyte (conductivity (κ), restricted diffusion coefficient (D), and the cation transference number with respect to the solvent velocity (t+0)), and the thermodynamic factor (Tf) are known. In this work, we provide the first study comparing the predicted salt concentration profiles with measurements based on operandoRaman spectroscopy. Concentration polarization is asymmetrical; the increase in salt concentration near the positive electrode is a factor of two greater than the decrease in salt concentration near the negative electrode. We find qualitative agreement between theory and experiment. Further work is needed to resolve the quantitative differences.

Despite exceptionally high levels of biodiversity and endemism found in Madagascar, much of its wildlife remains little studied, particularly the carnivore community. The recently described, little-known black forest cat (locally known as “fitoaty”) is believed to be restricted to NE Madagascar and has been investigated only through village surveys and anecdotal accounts. From 2008 to 2012, we photographically sampled 7 forest sites with varying degrees of degradation and fragmentation across Makira Natural Park with the goals of: 1) estimating landscape occupancy for fitoaty(Felisspp.), 2) identifying variables influencing fitoatyoccupancy, and 3) comparing fitoatyand feral cat (Felisspp.) occupancy across the landscape. We observed higher occupancy for fitoaty, minimal co-occurrence between fitoatyand feral cats (n= 2 sites), and strong divergence in habitat use. We provide the 1st assessment of fitoatymorphology, including comparisons with anecdotal reports, and the 1st population assessment of Madagascar’s exotic cat community with insights into factors associated with carnivore population trends in Madagascar. We suggest the described fitoatyis a phenotypically different form of the feral cat, but additional research is needed. Targeted management plans are needed to diminish the spread and potential negative effects of invasive cats across this important biologically diverse ecoregion.

Inadequate hydration is associated with cardiovascular and kidney disease morbidity and all-cause mortality. Compared with White individuals, Black individuals exhibit a higher prevalence of inadequate hydration, which may contribute to racial health disparities. However, the underlying reasons for these differences in hydration remain unclear.

Crop diversification and integration of livestock into cropping systems may improve the economic and environmental sustainability of agricultural systems. However, few studies have examined the integration of these practices in the semiarid areas of the Northern Great Plains (NGP). A 3‐yr experiment was conducted near Bozeman, MT, to compare the effects of crop rotation diversity and weed management practices imposed during fallow periods [sheep (Ovis aries) grazing, reduced tillage, and conventional tillage] on spring wheat (Triticum aestivumL.) yields and weed pressure. Management treatments were applied to replicated whole plots, within which the split‐plots received crop rotation treatments [continuous spring wheat (CSW) and a 3‐yr rotation of annual forage, fallow, and spring wheat, where each phase was present in each year]. In the initial 2 yr, the realized rotational treatments were wheat–fallow and CSW. In the final year, wheat was grown following all phases of the diversified rotation. Yields were similar among management treatments within the wheat–fallow and CSW rotations. Weed pressure was generally low but perennial weeds were more abundant in grazing‐managed, wheat–fallow systems. The integration of livestock into the annual hay crop–fallow–spring wheat rotation was associated with a nearly 30‐fold increase in weed pressure and a yield reduction of 51.2% compared to conventional management. The results suggest that although targeted sheep grazing is a viable alternative to conventional fallow management in CSW and wheat–fallow rotations, successful integration of livestock in diversified cropping systems requires more effective weed management practices.

Although blunted sensitivity to reward is thought to play a key role in promoting risk for depression, most research on this topic has utilized monetary reward paradigms and focused on currently depressed adults. To address this issue, we analyzed neural reward and β-endorphin data from the Psychobiology of Stress and Adolescent Depression (PSY SAD) Study, which recruited a well-characterized sample of adolescent girls at high vs. low risk for major depressive disorder (MDD) (N = 52, Mage = 14.90, SD = 1.35) based on their mothers’ lifetime history of MDD. As hypothesized, greater striatal activity while receiving positive (vs. neutral) social evaluation was associated with lower depression symptom severity as independently assessed by the Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia (K-SADS). This association was present for girls at high but not low risk for MDD, suggesting that this neural response may represent a pre-clinical marker of risk for depression. Consistent with these results, higher post-social evaluation levels of a peripheral marker of reward sensitivity, β-endorphin, were related to lower clinician-rated depression symptom severity. Together, these results indicate that neural and peripheral markers of responsivity to social reward are both related to depression severity, which may have implications for understanding the pathophysiology of depression.

Background Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) are the most common hospital-associated infection and can result in increased health care costs, morbidity and even mortality. In 2009, The Scott & White Memorial Hospital/Texas A&M Health Science Center (Texas, USA) system's CAUTI rate placed it in the upper quartile (ie, highest rate) for the country, necessitating a system-wide change.Objective To design and implement a guideline to reduce the incidence of CAUTI.Methods A multidisciplinary team was formed and completed both a root cause analysis and a review of the available literature. Consolidating the best evidence, the team formulated a best practice guideline detailing the proper indications for insertion of, improper use of and techniques to minimize infection with catheters. Included as part of this protocol was nursing and patient education, changes in identifying patients with a catheter and automatic termination orders. Three-, six- and 12-month reviews identifying additional opportunities for improvement at the end of 2010 were completed.Results In 2009, the hospital's CAUTI rate was 1.46 per 1000 catheter days. In 2011 – the first complete year of the finalized guideline – the hospital's CAUTI rate was 0.52 per 1000 catheter days, ranking the institution in the bottom quartile (ie, lowest rate) for the country. The surgery and plastic surgery subgroup analyses also demonstrated statistically significant reduction in both catheter use and CAUTI.Conclusion The incidence of CAUTI was successfully reduced at The Texas A&M Healthcare Center. The guideline, its development and how it applies to plastic surgery patients are discussed.

Lakeshore residential development (LRD) is associated with both low riparian tree density and reduced structural complexity of the littoral zone. Fallen trees from riparian zones (coarse woody habitat [CWH]) provide littoral structure for fish refuge, substrate for invertebrate production, and habitat for nesting fish. We performed a subsurface viewing and snorkel survey comparing the spawning behavior of largemouth bass Micropterus salmoidesin six lakes that span the known regional gradients of CWH and LRD in Wisconsin's Northern Highlands Lake District. We tested for differences in the water depth at nest sites and the nest distance to littoral structures (including every dock encountered) among lakes with contrasting CWH or LRD density. Largemouth bass nested under or near CWH in lakes with high CWH density. In lakes with low CWH, many males nested near CWH; however, nests contained smaller pieces of wood and were established in deeper water within low-CWH lakes than within high-CWH lakes. No nests were closer to a dock than to CWH, which suggested that docks do not act as surrogates for CWH. Habitat alterations associated with LRD significantly affect largemouth bass nest site location, and an understanding of these impacts will be important for maintaining viable populations of this prized game fish as LRD pressures expand. The limiting current density of a conventional polymer electrolyte (PS-PEO/LiTFSI) and a single-ion-conducting polymer electrolyte (PSLiTFSI-PEO) was measured using a new approach based on the fitted slopes of the potential obtained from lithium-polymer-lithium symmetric cells at a constant current density. The results of this method were consistent with those of an alternative framework for identifying the limiting current density taken from the literature. We found the limiting current density of the conventional electrolyte is inversely proportional to electrolyte thickness as expected from theory. The limiting current density of the single-ion-conducting electrolyte was found to be independent of thickness. There are no theories that address the dependence of the limiting current density on thickness for single-ion-conducting electrolytes.

Although most pancreatic neoplasms are adenocarcinoma, there are many other histological types, some of which may be increasing in frequency. To better define these trends, we reviewed 16 years of data from a statewide tumor registry.

Introduction:Cancer survivors experience a high prevalence of cognitive deficits and risk of CVD. Aortic stiffening, which increases following cancer diagnosis, inhibits pulsatile flow damping and potentiates microvascular damage within the cerebral circulation, which may contribute to associations observed between stiffness, cognitive decline, and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the general population. However, there is a paucity of evidence on the association between arterial stiffness and cognitive decline among cancer survivors.Methods:We evaluated dementia-free cancer survivors in the Framingham Original and Offspring Cohorts (n=277, 80±12.3 years old, 56.7% women, 9.3±8.8 years from first diagnosis) with carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) measurements. Over a mean follow-up of 7.7±3.9 years, the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE; global cognitive function) and neuropsychological exams (NP; executive function, learning and memory) were completed. We noted cognitive decline and incident MCI per clinically relevant standards. We used linear and logistic regression models to determine the relationship between cfPWV and cognitive decline/MCI. Cox Regression related cfPWV and cognitive function to the risk of CVD. Multivariate models were adjusted for age, sex, depressive symptoms, and traditional CVD risk factors.Results:cfPWV was significantly associated with the rate of decline for global cognitive function (ΔMMSE). Higher cfPWV was significantly associated with clinically defined MCI, denoted by an impaired MMSE (OR(95%CI): 9.2(2.5-33.5)) and NP score (4.3 (1.4-13.0)) in univariate logistic models. We observed a 3.4 times higher risk of CVD in cancer survivors with high cfPWV (HR(95%CI): 3.45 (1.04-11.66)) in the final model. Changes in cognitive function were not associated with CVD.Conclusion:Our findings suggests an association between aortic stiffness, future cognitive decline, and an increased risk of CVD in a diverse cohort of cancer survivors. Our findings support the potential adverse consequences of a stiffening arterial vasculature following cancer diagnosis; specifically those related to cognitive function and long-term CVD outcomes.

Lightweight concretes are increasingly being used in the construction industry, either for the overall lightweighting of the structure itself, reducing material consumption for construction and thus CO2emissions, or for specific reasons such as improving the thermal insulation properties of the structure or acoustic properties. Today, lightweight concretes with lightweight expanded aggregates (expanded clay, agloporite) are most commonly used. This paper deals with the production of lightweight concretes lightweighted with foamed glass-based aggregates. Foamed glass is a lightweight material characterised by a very good ratio of thermal insulation and mechanical properties. Foamed glass is made of approximately 90% recycled glass waste (mostly mixed), which cannot be used in any other way, as well as water glass and glycerine. When concrete is lightened with foamed glass, these concretes achieve unique properties while conserving primary aggregate resources, avoiding landfilling of glass waste and efficiently using the waste material to produce lightweight concrete with higher added value. The paper discusses the possibilities of developing lightweight structural concretes using glass foam-based aggregates to achieve higher strength classes while reducing the weight and thermal conductivity of the concrete. As part of the research work, new types of lightweight concrete with a bulk density in the range of 1750–1930 kg/m3and a thermal conductivity from 0.699 to 0.950 W/(m·K) were developed.

A set of expandable polystyrene (PS) beads of different sizes containing mixed blowing agents (n-pentane and i-pentane) with different compositions was prepared and processed in the standard way. Non-expanded PS beads, pre-expanded PS beads and the final PS foams were exposed to air at room temperature for more than 4000 hours and the weight losses due to volatilisation of the blowing agent (LOBA) were followed. Effective diffusion coefficients of n-pentane and i-pentane in PS's were determined from initial parts of LOBA kinetic isotherms. Experimental data were compared with predictions based on the diffusion model.

Die Verminderung oder Drosselung der arteriellen Blutzufuhr rief in den meisten Fällen einen isolierten Temperaturabfall am Magen hervor. Akute Mangeldurchblutung führte darüber hinaus zu einem deutlichen Anstieg der Acidität an der Magenschleimhaut. Dieses Verhalten änderte sich nicht nach Vagusdurchtrennung. Auf die mögliche Bedeutung der Befunde für die Klinik wird hingewiesen.

Bei den Erkrankungden des leukocytren Systems und den Splenomegalien ergeben sich regelmig typische flache Kurven, die sich von dem Normaltyp einer Kontrollgruppe deutlich unterscheiden lieen. ber die Voraussetzung zum Zustandekommen dieses pathologischen Kurventyps wurden nhere Angaben gemacht.

Zusammenfassung Es wird die Veränderung des Seromucoidspiegels auf unspezifische Reize verfolgt. Die schnelle Erhöhung des Spiegels läßt die Einordnung der Seromucoide in die Gruppe der „acute phase proteins“ zu. Die Pathogenese des Vorgangs wird kurz diskutiert.

Zusammenfassung Im Tierversuch wurde die Wirkung des Daraprim auf das hämatopoetische System untersucht. Es wirkt in erster Linie im Sinne einer Verminderung der Zellzahl auf die Erythro- und Granulopoese, weniger stark auf die Thrombopoese.
