Purpose: The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility and safety of the Senhance robotic system in urologic surgeries. Materials and methods: Patients were included prospectively from July 2018 to December 2020. The exclusion criteria included severe cardiopulmonary diseases and previous extensive abdominal surgeries. Institutional approval and informed consent were obtained. We used the Clavien-Dindo classification system to evaluate the complications that occurred within 30 days after surgery. Common technical and mechanical events encountered were also recorded. Results: A total of 173 patients were recruited. The median age was 65 (58-74) years, and the median body mass index was 24.7 (16.5-35.6) kg/m². Seventeen (9.8%) patients had previously undergone abdominal surgeries. Eighty-three (48%) cases had total extraperitoneal hernioplasty and 32 (18.5%) cases radical prostatectomy, which were the largest 2 surgeries in our study. Sixty-one (35.3%) patients received surgeries due to malignancy. The median docking time was 5 (1-35) minutes. There were 28 (16.2%) cases with grade I complications and 9 (5.2%) cases with grade II complications. Only one case of a grade IIIb complication occurred during radical prostatectomy. No grade IV complications or mortalities were noted. Robotic arm collisions and forces exceeding the limit were the most commonly encountered problems intraoperatively. Conclusion: In our initial experiences, the Senhance robotic system was feasible in oncologic and nononcologic urologic surgeries and had acceptable outcomes. The haptic feedback system is unique and requires a learning period. This system may serve as an alternative tool for robotic urologic surgeries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Dyslipidemia is one of the factors that increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The prevalence of dyslipidemia is higher in the older population. This study aimed to identify the predictive factors of dyslipidemia in the elderly population in Taiwan. Methods: This was a longitudinal follow-up study. Data of a total of 1583 adults aged 65 or above who lived in Taipei and participated in a yearly health examination were analyzed. The levels of total cholesterol and triglyceride measured for each subject were used to assess dyslipidemia. The generalized estimating equations method was employed to investigate the predictors of dyslipidemia. Results: The results showed that the significant predictive factors for hypercholesterolemia, as measured by odds ratios (ORs), were the female gender (1.953), the total cholesterol level in 2008 (1.036), the year 2010 (0.742), no alcohol consumption (0.751), use of cardiovascular medications (0.506), and use of lipid-lowering medications (0.574). The triglyceride measurement in 2008, use of antihyperglycemic drugs, and a duration of education greater than 9 years were significant factors relating to hypertriglyceridemia, the odds ratios being 1.021, 1.912, and 0.720, respectively. Conclusion: The people at high risk of developing hypercholesterolemia in Taiwan were female, aged between 65 and 75, with a high alcohol consumption, a low fruit and vegetable consumption, and no use of lipid-lowering drugs. Future studies are needed to explore the barriers that impede older adults from managing their dyslipidemia and seeking appropriate treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An open-source tool named NOVET for Web-based video editing is presented. It allows the user to edit video content and post videos through a Web browser. This paper introduces the user interface, functionality, and architecture of NOVET. Comparisons with five other similar tools are given to show the merits of NOVET. Over time, the roles, tasks, and even titles of the senior woman administrator (SWA) have evolved in a direction to suggest greater involvement with department decisions and governance. However, thirty years after the inception of the designation, a discrepancy persists between senior woman administrators and athletic directors (AD) regarding the extent to which SWAs are and should be involved in decision-making within athletic departments. Further discrepancies are noted towards training and mentoring support for SWAs. The purpose of this longitudinal study is to explore the current roles, tasks and support of the Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) from the perspective of both the SWA and the AD in a follow-up to a study completed in 2005. Perceptions of SWAs involvement in roles and tasks deemed important to the operational and strategic management of collegiate athletic departments were reported by SWAs (n= 681) and ADs (n= 601). The results indicated ADs more often perceived the SWA has greater involvement in nearly all 17 categories of administrative roles than SWAs perceive for themselves. The greatest discrepancies existed in the areas of budgetary planning and management and oversight of all (especially men's) programs. Results also indicated that financial support for training and mentoring is not widely available or used by SWAs to enhance their career skills and advancement. Recommendations include continued efforts to involve the SWA in all areas of management, and to provide the necessary training and mentoring to enhance SWA effectiveness not only for their future, but also in their current position. The bionator is one of the most commonly used functional appliances in treating Angle Class II division 1 malocclusions. However, the original type of bionator often causes lower incisor flaring and is limited in cases with mild crowding. There is little published literature on treating Angle Class II division 2 malocclusions using bionators. Our group suggested some modifications to the original-type bionator, including addition of an anterior resin cap, upper and lower labial bows, an expansion screw and a posterior resin wedge, to attempt to overcome limitations of the original design. This article shows our results on two male patients, one with an Angle Class II division 1 maLocclusion with a large overjet and the other with an Angle Class II division 2 malocclusion. The treatment was completed using a newly modified bionator with no other fixed appliance and resulted in a decrease in facial convexity, a reduced overjet and overbite, ideal interincisal relationships, and a harmonious profile.
