Facilitated self‐management interventions have the potential to enhance resilience and well‐being. We examined whether resilience is a mediator of improving physical and psychological symptoms for people with systemic sclerosis (SSc) who participated in a 12‐week online peer‐led symptom management intervention. We conducted a secondary data analysis from a randomized control trial comparing a peer health‐coached intervention to a waitlist control. Participants completed the Connor‐Davidson Resilience Scale, the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy‐Fatigue scale, and the Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System measures of pain interference and depressive symptoms at the baseline and at weeks 6 and 12. Linear mixed effect regression models were used to assess the effect of intervention on changes in resilience. Causal mediation analyses were conducted to examine whether changes in resilience at week 12 mediated intervention effects on changes in fatigue, pain interference, and depressive symptoms at week 12. One hundred and seventy‐three eligible participants were enrolled. Participants in the intervention group reported improvements in resilience (P< 0.001). These changes in resilience mediated the intervention effects on fatigue with indirect effect of −1.41 (95% confidence interval [CI] −2.41 to −0.41), pain interference of −0.86 (95% CI −1.65 to −0.08), and depressive symptoms of −1.99 (95% CI −3.16 to −0.81). For participants in the intervention who had positive improvements in their physical and psychological symptoms, increased resilience was a mechanism for these improvements. These findings support the importance of addressing resilience to improve symptoms in similar SSc interventions.

Supported self‐management interventions for individuals with systemic sclerosis (SSc) are needed. We examined the effects of a 12‐week resilience‐building energy management program (called RENEW) for fatigue and other patient‐reported outcomes. Participants, who had physician‐diagnosed SSc, moderate to severe fatigue, and were ≥18 years old, were randomly assigned to RENEW or waitlist control in a 2:1 ratio. The RENEW intervention included an educational website/application plus nine virtual peer‐led health coaching sessions. The primary outcome was change in the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy‐Fatigue scale. Secondary outcomes were change in Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System measures of pain interference and depressive symptoms and Connor‐Davidson Resilience Scale. Outcomes were assessed at baseline, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks. Multiple imputation was conducted; linear mixed models were used to assess group differences. A three‐way interaction with group, time, and SSc duration was examined in each model. Among 173 participants (mean ± SD age 54.5 ± 11.7 years; 93% female, 85% White), 47% had diffuse cutaneous SSc; 57% were ≤5 years from diagnosis. At 12 weeks, compared to controls, RENEW participants had a clinically meaningful fatigue improvement (β = −4.7; 95% confidence interval −6.7 to −2.7; P< 0.001) and improvement in all secondary outcomes. Among RENEW participants, individuals with shorter disease duration had greater improvements in fatigue at 12 weeks. An mHealth supported self‐management intervention improved fatigue and other outcomes, particularly in newly diagnosed patients. This program may be broadly scalable for SSc symptom management.

Impaired upper extremity (UE) function has limited activities of daily living in people with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Exergaming, a combination of gaming and exercises, could be a novel way to improve UE exercise engagement. The objective of this study was to examine the usability of exergaming and to investigate participant experiences after exergaming among people with SSc. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected. Participants completed questionnaires regarding the usability of exergaming. Semi-structured interviews were conducted directly after exergaming. Descriptive statistics and thematic content analysis were performed. Twenty participants with SSc participated. Exergaming was highly acceptable with a good System Usability Scale score (M = 71.6 ± 9.9). Participants described exergaming as motivating with potential physical and nonphysical benefits. Although results were generally positive, participants expressed some barriers and temporary side effects of using exergaming and needs for improvement. This work stands to inform future exergaming interventions in people with SSc.

Perceived cognitive dysfunction is prevalent in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) but not well understood. This study aimed to examine potential factors associated with perceived cognitive function and to investigate the contributions of perceived cognitive function and symptoms to functional measures. A cross‐sectional survey was conducted among patients with SSc (n = 106). Participants were mainly female (84%) and White (82%). Perceived cognitive function, symptoms, and functional measures were assessed with Patient‐Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) measures. A multivariable regression was conducted to identify factors associated with perceived cognition. Hierarchical linear regressions examined the unique contributions of perceived cognitive function and symptoms to social participation and physical function. Fifty‐nine (56%) patients with SSc perceived mild‐to‐severe cognitive dysfunction. Being on work disability and having more fatigue were both significantly associated with perceived cognitive dysfunction. When examining the contributions of cognition and other symptoms to functional measures, self‐reported cognition became nonsignificant after fatigue and pain were entered into the regression model. Being on work disability and having more fatigue were most highly associated with perceived cognitive dysfunction in patients with SSc. Unlike fatigue and pain, perceived cognitive function was not independently associated with functional measures. Nonetheless, future research should disentangle cognitive function and other symptoms, as well as their effects on daily activities, in SSc.

Objectives: Systemic sclerosis often has a significant impact on an individual’s quality of life. Life satisfaction is a subjective expression of well-being and a key component of quality of life. We examined the associations between functional limitations, social support, and spiritual well-being with life satisfaction and investigated the moderating roles of social support and spiritual well-being on the relationship between functional limitations and life satisfaction in people with systemic sclerosis.Methods: Data were drawn from the baseline University of California Los Angeles Scleroderma Quality of Life Study. Participants completed questionnaires that included demographics, depressive symptoms, functional limitations, social support, and spiritual well-being. The Satisfaction with Life Scale was used to evaluate overall life satisfaction. Data were analyzed using a hierarchical linear regression.Results: Of 206 participants (84% female, 74% White, 52% limited cutaneous subtype, 51% early disease), 38% reported being dissatisfied with their lives. Functional limitations (β = −0.19, p= 0.006), social support (β = 0.18, p= 0.006), and spiritual well-being (β = 0.40, p< 0.001) were associated with life satisfaction, with spiritual well-being emerging as the strongest statistical contributor. However, social support and spiritual well-being did not significantly moderate the relationship between functional limitations and life satisfaction (p= 0.882 and p= 0.339, respectively).Conclusion: Spiritual well-being is particularly important in understanding life satisfaction in people with systemic sclerosis. Future longitudinal research is needed to assess and examine spiritual well-being and its impact on life satisfaction in a larger and more diverse systemic sclerosis sample.

The use of thiazide diuretics for the treatment of hypertension in patients with advance chronic kidney disease. Thiazides have been recommended as the first-line for the treatment of hypertension, yet their use has been discouraged in advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD), as they are suggested to be ineffective in advanced CKD. Recent data suggest that thiazide diuretics may be beneficial blood pressure control in addition to natriuresis in existing CKD. This review discusses the commercially available thiazides with a focus on thiazide pharmacology, most common adverse effects, clinical uses of thiazide diuretic, and the evidence for efficacy of thiazide use in advanced CKD.

Minimally invasive surgery for ICH has shown a significantly improved functional outcome for selected ICH patients. This study aimed to evaluate the factors influencing the outcome of supratentorial ICH patients treated with stereotactic computed tomographic (CT) guided recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA).

This study develops a plastic cycle toward circular economy practice in Vietnam. First, we analyze inter-relationships between economic sectors and environmental issues concerning plastic waste in 2018. The research method integrates interdisciplinary balance with life cycle inventory, in which input–output (IO) table is both an econometric tool and original database to determine plastic IO between industries. As a result, over 60% of plastics after use was recycled for the production process (called recycled plastics) and nearly 40% of plastics after-use left the process (called disposed plastics). Within the recycled plastics, there was 10–15% of informal recycling collection from trade villages; within the disposed plastics, there was 13–18% unable to be collected and uncontrollably disposed to the environment. Then, we construct the plastic cycle, in which all the imported/domestic flows, single/multiple uses, and recycle/disposal flows are represented in proportional dimensions. This overall yet quantitative picture is an important data-driven basis for proposing plastic waste management solutions toward circular economy practice. As analyzed, the most challenge for waste management in Vietnam is to control single-use products (occupied 15.96% of total plastics) and indiscriminate waste in the environment (occupied 20.36% of total plastics). The case study for polyethylene terephthalate shows the need for expanding producer’s responsibilities to improve plastic recovery efficiency.

To systematically review evidence of rehabilitation interventions for improving outcomes in systemic sclerosis (SSc) and to evaluate evidence quality. Several electronic databases were searched to identify studies in which rehabilitation professionals delivered, supervised, or participated in interventions for individuals with SSc. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or non‐randomized trials, one‐arm trials, and prospective quasi‐experimental studies with interventions were included if they had ≥10 participants. Quality appraisal was conducted by 2 independent raters using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) Scale. A total of 16 good or excellent quality studies (15 RCTs, 1 prospective quasi‐experimental study) were included. Most rehabilitation interventions focused on hands/upper extremities, followed by multicomponent, orofacial, and directed self‐management. Sample sizes varied between 20–267 participants (median 38). In 50% of studies, participants in intervention groups significantly improved compared to controls. Most studies demonstrated within‐group improvements in intervention groups. Interventions varied in content, delivery, length, and dose and outcome measures collected. Existing evidence provides some support for rehabilitation in SSc, such as interventions that focus on hand and upper extremity outcomes or are multicomponent, although there is high study heterogeneity. The evidence base would benefit from interventions testing similar replicable components, use of common outcome measures, and incorporation of delivery modes that enable larger sample sizes. There are challenges in recruiting participants due to the rarity of SSc and high disease burden, as participants' involvement in rehabilitation studies requires active participation over time. Intervention studies designed to reduce participation barriers may facilitate translation of effective interventions into practice.

Accurate battery life prediction is a critical part of the business case for electric vehicles, stationary energy storage, and nascent applications such as electric aircraft. Existing methods are based on relatively small but well-designed lab datasets and controlled test conditions but incorporating field data is crucial to build a complete picture of how cells age in real-world situations. This comes with additional challenges because end-use applications have uncontrolled operating conditions, less accurate sensors, data collection and storage concerns, and infrequent access to validation checks. We explore a range of techniques for estimating lifetime from lab and field data and suggest that combining machine learning approaches with physical models is a promising method, enabling inference of battery life from noisy data, assessment of second-life condition, and extrapolation to future usage conditions. This work highlights the opportunity for insights gained from field data to reduce battery costs and improve designs.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate health care provider awareness and perceptions of the 2 types of advanced practice pharmacists (APPhs) in New Mexico: pharmacist clinicians (PhCs) and community pharmacists with independent prescriptive authority (iRPhs).

Objectives: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) negatively affects quality of life, yet the factors influencing life satisfaction, a key aspect of well-being, remain unclear in this population. Social isolation is common in SSc, potentially linked to decreased life satisfaction, but the underlying mechanisms are unexplored. Resilience, a modifiable psychological resource, may act as a mediator in this relationship among people with SSc. This study aimed to examine the relationship between perceived social isolation and life satisfaction and to investigate whether resilience mediates this relationship.Methods: The Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Social Isolation Short Form, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale were used to assess perceived social isolation, resilience, and life satisfaction. Linear regressions were conducted using the PROCESS macro for SPSS.Results: Among 163 individuals with SSc who provided complete data at baseline (mean age = 54.7 ± 11.9 years), 47% had diffuse cutaneous SSc, and 57% had an early disease duration. Perceived social isolation was negatively associated with life satisfaction. Resilience partially mediated the association between perceived social isolation and life satisfaction in people with SSc.Conclusions: Findings revealed a significant association between perceived social isolation and life satisfaction and the mediating role of resilience in this association among people with SSc. Results suggest resilience may act as a protective mediator, counteracting the negative influence of perceived social isolation on life satisfaction. Findings support the promotion of social connection and resilience to enhance life satisfaction in people with SSc.Clinical Trials Registration #: NCT04908943

Long-acting basal insulins are used for the management of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Long-acting basal insulins were developed utilizing recombinant DNA technology and have been available since 2000 with the approval of insulin glargine U-100 followed by insulin detemir in 2005. In recent years, diabetes management has become more complex with the approval of insulin glargine U-300 and insulin degludec U-100 and U-200. Both insulin glargine U-300 and insulin degludec have been compared with insulin glargine U-100 and have demonstrated longer durations of action, as well as lower rates of hypoglycemia. This review discusses the Food and Drug Administration-approved long-acting insulins with a focus on recently approved agents and their efficacy and safety compared with the first long-acting basal insulins.

Background: This study first efficiently applies the previous result Chen Electrical Unifying Approach (CEUA) utilized in the basic circuit theory to construct the control system matrix equation of the complicated block diagram. Methods: Based on the simple matrix operations proposed in this study, we can easily derive the transfer function without using the traditional Mason rule and the reduced techniques of the block diagram. We have successfully proposed a unifying approach to improve the disadvantages of the Mason rule, in which all loops must be found out and only the transfer function between the input node and the output node is evaluated, and the shortcoming of the reduced techniques for the block diagram is that the calculating process is too complex to be accepted. Results: The salient features of the proposed method are that the transfer function of the complicated block diagram can be easily obtained without using traditional Mason rule and the transfer function of any two nodes is immediately derived within only one calculation. Conclusion: We compared some demonstrated examples with some traditional approaches. Moreover, to demonstrate the practical applicability, the study has investigated one practical example.

New hepatitis C virus (HCV) therapies with pan-genotypic efficacy are needed. The goals of part A of C-CREST-1 and C-CREST-2 were to compare the efficacies of two doses (300 mg or 450 mg once daily) of uprifosbuvir (MK-3682; NS5B inhibitor) in an 8-week regimen combined with grazoprevir (NS3/4A inhibitor; 100 mg once daily) and an NS5A inhibitor, either elbasvir (50 mg once daily) or ruzasvir (MK-8408; 60 mg once daily), and to evaluate the safety and tolerability of these combination regimens in individuals infected with genotypes 1, 2, or 3.

There is a need for hepatitis C virus (HCV) therapies with excellent efficacy across genotypes and in diverse populations. Part A of the C-CREST-1 and C-CREST-2 trials led to the selection of a three-drug regimen of grazoprevir (MK-5172; an HCV NS3/4A protease inhibitor; 100 mg/day) plus ruzasvir (MK-8408; an NS5A inhibitor; 60 mg/day) plus uprifosbuvir (MK-3682; an HCV NS5B polymerase inhibitor; 450 mg/day). Part B of the studies tested this combination as a single formulation in different treatment durations in a broader population.

Swaziland has the highest national HIV prevalence worldwide. The Swaziland HIV Incidence Measurement Survey (SHIMS) provides the first national HIV incidence estimate based on prospectively observed HIV seroconversions.

Antiretroviral therapy may alter susceptibility to nonkeratinocyte skin cancers (NKSCs) by improving immunity in people living with HIV. Using linked data from HIV and cancer registries in 12 states/regions in the United States during the antiretroviral therapy era (1996‒2018), we calculated standardized incidence ratios for 27 NKSCs, comparing incidence with that of the general population. Risk factors for NKSCs were evaluated using Poisson regression. There were 2,743 NKSCs diagnosed in 585,706 people living with HIV followed for 4,575,794 person-years. Kaposi sarcoma was the most common cancer (82%), followed by melanoma (12%) and cutaneous lymphoma (2.6%). Incidence was elevated for virus-related NKSCs: Kaposi sarcoma (standardized incidence ratio = 147, 95% confidence interval = 141‒153), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (standardized incidence ratio = 5.19, 95% confidence interval = 3.13‒8.11), and Merkel cell carcinoma (standardized incidence ratio = 3.15, 95% confidence interval = 1.93‒4.87); elevated incidence for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and Merkel cell carcinoma was observed only among people living with HIV with a previously acquired immunodeficiency syndrome diagnosis. Kaposi sarcoma risk was highest among men who have sex with men. Incidence was not increased for melanoma, adnexal carcinomas, and sarcomas. Melanoma and Merkel cell carcinoma arose disproportionately on sun-exposed skin, supporting a role for UVR in their development. In conclusion, risk for most NKSCs was similar to that of the general population during the antiretroviral therapy era, suggesting that people living with HIV without NKSC risk factors may not require intensive skin surveillance.

Three previously undescribed azepino-indole alkaloids, named purpurascenines A–C (1–3), together with the new-to-nature 7-hydroxytryptophan (4) as well as two known compounds, adenosine (5) and riboflavin (6), were isolated from fruiting bodies of Cortinarius purpurascensFr. (Cortinariaceae). The structures of 1–3were elucidated based on spectroscopic analyses and ECD calculations. Furthermore, the biosynthesis of purpurascenine A (1) was investigated by in vivoexperiments using 13C-labeled sodium pyruvate, alanine, and sodium acetate incubated with fruiting bodies of C. purpurascens. The incorporation of 13C into 1was analyzed using 1D NMR and HRESIMS methods. With [3-13C]-pyruvate, a dramatic enrichment of 13C was observed, and hence a biosynthetic route via a direct Pictet–Spengler reaction between α-keto acids and 7-hydroxytryptophan (4) is suggested for the biosynthesis of purpurascenines A–C (1–3). Compound 1exhibits no antiproliferative or cytotoxic effects against human prostate (PC-3), colorectal (HCT-116), and breast (MCF-7) cancer cells. An in silicodocking study confirmed the hypothesis that purpurascenine A (1) could bind to the 5-HT2Aserotonin receptor’s active site. A new functional 5-HT2Areceptor activation assay showed no functional agonistic but some antagonistic effects of 1against the 5-HT-dependent 5-HT2Aactivation and likely antagonistic effects on putative constitutive activity of the 5-HT2Areceptor.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with HIV-1. The C-EDGE CO-INFECTION study assessed the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of grazoprevir (MK-5172) plus elbasvir (MK-8742) in patients with HCV and HIV co-infection.

Background We explored the relationship between virological response in the first year of treatment and long-term outcomes in the BENCHMRK studies.Methods Patients failing antiretroviral treatment with 3-class resistant HIV-1 received double-blinded raltegravir (or placebo) with optimized background therapy (OBT) until week 156, followed by open-label raltegravir with OBT up to week 240. In this exploratory analysis of patients randomized to raltegravir, virological response over weeks 16–48 was categorized as continuous suppression (CS; viral RNA [vRNA] always <50 copies/ml), low-level viraemia (LLV; vRNA always <400 copies/ml, >50 copies/ml at least once), or not suppressed (NS; vRNA >400 copies/ml at least once). The association between these first-year vRNA response categories and baseline factors was analysed with univariate and multi-variate models. Virological and immunological outcomes for years 2–5 were assessed by first-year vRNA response category (observed failure approach).Results Baseline vRNA, baseline CD4+T-cell count and rapid viral decay (vRNA <50 copies/ml between weeks 2–12) correlated with first-year vRNA response (P<0.001); only rapid viral decay remained significant by multiple regression. Virological response rates were similar in the LLV and CS groups and lowest in the NS group. CD4+T-cell count increased through week 240 in the CS and LLV groups. Time to loss of virological response (confirmed vRNA =400 copies/ml) through week 240 did not support as strong a difference between the LLV and CS groups (log-rank P=0.11) as previously reported through weeks 156 and 192 (P<0.05).Conclusions Treatment-experienced patients on a raltegravir-based regimen with early LLV may have long-term virological and immunological benefit when their therapy is maintained.

Almost every abiotic surface of a material is readily colonised by bacteria, algae, and fungi, contributing to the degradation processes of materials. Both biocorrosion and microbially influenced corrosion (MIC) refer to the interaction of microbial cells and their metabolic products, such as exopolymeric substances (EPS), with an abiotic surface. Therefore, biofouling and biodeterioration of manufactured goods have economic and environmental ramifications for the user to tackle or remove the issue. While MIC is typically applied to metallic materials, newly developed and evolving materials frequently succumb to the effects of corrosion, resulting in a range of chemical reactions and transport mechanisms occurring in the material. Recent research on biocorrosion and biofouling of conventional and novel materials is discussed in this paper, showcasing the current knowledge regarding microbial and material interactions that contribute to biocorrosion and biofouling, including biofilms, anaerobic and aerobic environments, microbial assault, and the various roles microorganisms’ play. Additionally, we show the latest analytical techniques used to characterise and identify MIC on materials using a borescope, thermal imaging, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron microscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical and epifluorescence microscopy, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry, and chemometrics.

ABSTRACTFourth-generation HIV rapid tests (RTs) claim to detect both p24 antigen (Ag) and HIV antibodies (Ab) for early identification of acute infections, important for targeting prevention and reducing HIV transmission. In a nationally representative household survey in Swaziland, 18,172 adults, age 18 to 49 years, received home-based HIV rapid testing in 2010 and 2011. Of the 18,172 individuals, 5,822 (32.0%) were Ab positive (Ab+) by the Determine HIV-1/2 Ab/Ab combo test, and 5,789 (99.4%) of those were confirmed to be reactive in the Uni-Gold test. Determine combo identified 12 individuals as having acute infections (Ag+/Ab negative [Ab-]); however, none had detectable HIV-1 RNA and 8 of 12 remained HIV negative at their 6-week follow-up visit (4 were lost to follow-up). All RT-nonreactive samples were pooled and tested by nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) to identify acute infections. NAAT identified 13 (0.1%) of the 12,338 HIV antibody-negative specimens as HIV RNA positive, with RNA levels ranging from 300 to >10,000,000 copies/ml. However, none of them were Ag+by Determine combo. Follow-up testing of 12 of the 13 NAAT-positive individuals at 6 months demonstrated 12 seroconversions (1 individual was lost to follow-up). Therefore, the Determine combo test had a sensitivity of 0% (95% confidence interval, 0 to 28) and positive predictive value of 0% for the detection of acute infections. The ability of the 4th-generation Determine combo to detect antigen was very poor in Swaziland. Thus, the Determine combo test does not add any value to the current testing algorithm; rather, it adds additional costs and complexity to HIV diagnosis. The detection of acute HIV infections may need to rely on other testing strategies.

The objectives of this study were to quantify Salmonellacounts on retail raw poultry meat in Vietnam and to phenotypically characterize (serovars and antibiotic resistance) the isolates. A total of 300 chicken carcasses were collected from two cities and two provinces in Vietnam. Salmonellacounts on the samples were determined according to the most-probable-number (MPN) method of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA-FSIS). A total of 457 isolates were serotyped and tested for antibiotic susceptibility. Overall, 48.7% of chicken samples were Salmonellapositive with a count of 2.0 log MPN per carcass. There were no significant differences (P >0.05) in log MPN per carcass by the study variables (market type, storage condition, and chicken production system). There was a significant difference (P <0.05) in Salmonella-positive prevalence by chicken production system. Among the 22 Salmonellaserovars identified, Albany was the most frequent (34.1%), followed by Agona (15.5%) and Dabou (8.8%). Resistance to at least one antibiotic was common (i.e., 73.3%), with high resistance to tetracycline (59.1%) and ampicillin (41.6%). Resistance to three antibiotics was the most frequently found multidrug resistance profile (17.7%, n= 81); the profile that was resistant to the highest number of drugs was resistant to nine antibiotics (0.7%, n= 3). Only SalmonellaAlbany posed phenotypic resistance to ceftriaxone (a drug of choice to treat severe cases of salmonellosis). The data revealed that, whereas Salmonellaprevalence on raw poultry was high (48.7%), counts were low, which suggests that the exposure risk to Salmonellais low. However, improper storage of raw chicken meat and cross-contamination may increase Salmonellacell counts and pose a greater risk for infection. These data may be helpful in developing risk assessment models and preventing the transmission of foodborne Salmonellafrom poultry to humans in Vietnam.

This study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of Salmonellaon chicken carcasses collected from six regions in Vietnam. A total of 1,000 whole, dressed chicken carcasses were collected from five cities and seven provinces across the six regions in Vietnam. Of these, 900 samples were collected from wet markets and 100 from supermarkets. All samples were analyzed for the presence of Salmonellaaccording to a method recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service. The overall Salmonellaprevalence was 45.9%. There was no significant difference (P> 0.05) in Salmonellaprevalence by (i) location (Ha Noi city, 51.1%; Hai Phong city, 45.6%; Da Nang and Can Tho cities, 45.5%; Bac Ninh province and Ho Chi Minh city, 44.7%; Dong Nai province, 44.6%; Ha Tinh province, 44.4%; Phu Tho province, 43.8%; Lao Cai province, 43.5%; Kien Giang province, 41.9%; and Lam Dong province, 40.9%), (ii) market type (wet market, 46.2%; supermarket samples, 43.0%), and (iii) storage temperature at retail (ambient storage, 46.4%; chilled storage, 45.1%). Hence, Salmonellapresence on poultry meat in Vietnam was not associated with a specific city or province, market type, or storage temperature at retail. Strategies to reduce Salmonellalevels on raw poultry in Vietnam should be undertaken to improve the safety of poultry products and reduce the incidence of human salmonellosis from poultry consumption.
