Abstract

The article presents a study on the feasibility of preoperative functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for localization and lateralization of language areas, including Broca's and Wernicke's areas, in Chinese patients with brain tumors. It also determines the sensitivity and specificity of functional MRI for mapping language areas. Intraoperative electrocortical mapping (ECM) results confirm good sensitivity and specificity of functional MRI in terms of localization of language areas.
