Using a simple assistant thermal decomposition method, metal cadmium nanowires were large-scale fabricated from CdS powders in an argon atmosphere. Investigation results demonstrate that the Cd nanowires have lengths of several microns and diameter of about 70-150 nm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Thin and wide ZnO nanobelts doped with 5 atom % tin have been achieved under different flowing atmosphere. Photoluminescence measurements show a blue shift in the near band edge (NBE) emission spectrum compared to a bulk single crystal of ZnO and the intensity ratio of the NBE to the green emission of these Sn-doped ZnO nanobelts can be controlled by altering the flowing atmosphere. The novel silica nanotubes with flower-like morphology and hexagonal outer surface morphology were fabricated via a simple ZnS nanowires templates-assisted CVD method.
