The article features the waxy monkey leaf frog Phyllomedusa sauvagii in the Dry Chaco which extends from Argentina and Bolivia through Paraguay. It provides a description of the species, which is an anuran of the tree frog family Hylidae, and is characterized by its slow and comical movements. It notes that most frogs live in moist environments to prevent dehydration, and describes its survival strategy which depends on its paratoid glands and waxy secretions to be able to live in its arid habitat.
