Intermetallic compounds with semiconducting properties are rare, but they give rise to advanced materials for energy conversion and saving applications. Here, we present ReGa2Ge, a new electron-precise narrow-gap intermetallic semiconductor. The compound crystallizes in the IrIn3structure type (space group P42/mnm, a= 6.5734(3) Å, c= 6.7450(8) Å, and Z= 4), where Re atoms occupy the Ir site, while Ga and Ge jointly populate the In sites. 69,71Ga nuclear quadrupole resonance spectroscopy indicates nonstatistical partially ordered distribution of Ga and Ge over two available crystallographic sites; however, the Ga:Ge ratio is exactly 2:1 without noticeable homogeneity range. The stoichiometry of ReGa2Ge ensures its precise valence electron count, which is 17 e–per formula unit. Accordingly, a narrow energy gap opens up at the Fermi energy in the electronic structure. Electrical resistivity, Seebeck coefficient, and thermal conductivity are in agreement with the semiconducting behavior deduced from the electronic structure calculations and point to prospective thermoelectric properties at high temperatures. Bonding analysis reveals dominant covalency in Re–E (E = Ga, Ge) and Re–Re interactions.

The reactions of the nitroso chlorides of methylcyclohexene, limonene, 3-carene, and α-pinene with an excess of diethyl malonate in the presence of anhydrous K₂CO₃ at room temperature resulted in the C-alkylation and formation of α-substituted oximes with a diethyl malonate moiety in 20–90% yields.

The title reaction resulted in N-alkyl imidazolyl derivatives 3 rather than isothiourea 2, and compounds 3 were transformed to imidazolylthiazoles 4 by the subsequent reaction with chloroacetone.

Reactions of linalyl acetate, dehydrolinalool and geranyl acetate with NOCl result in selective addition to the Δ^6,7 double bond.

The reaction of NOCl with cembrene at –50 °C in CH₂Cl₂ results in 1,2-addition to the conjugated system of double bonds.

New heterocyclic compounds, pyrimidines annelated with modified terpenic frames, were synthesised from positional isomers of β-enaminones derived from limonene and (+)-3-carene.

Terpenic α-amino ketones have been prepared in good yield by treatment of the corresponding α-amino oximes with Ti(III) salts; all other known methods of deoximation give unacceptably low yields.

Syntheses of new 1,2-azole-type fused heterocycles based on the α-pinene molecule are described.

The treatment of a seco-carane-type β-chlorovinyl ketone with benzylidene aminoguanidine in boiling methanol in the presence of sodium bicarbonate results in the formation of a substituted 2-phenyl[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine.

The acid-catalysed rearrangement of carane-type α-(N-acylamino)oximes results in the formation of new bridged heterocycles with the 3-substituted 1-isopropyl-6-hydroxyimino-3-methyl-2-oxa-4-azabicyclo[3.3.1]non-3-ene skeleton.

The reaction of dibenzylphosphine oxide with myrtenoic acid nitrile in tert-butyl methyl ether in the presence of sodium hydride results in the formation of substituted aminophospholene oxide in good yield (83%).

The reaction of N-(ethoxycarbonyl)methyl substituted ethyl 6,7-difluoro-, 6,7,8-trifluoro- and 5,6,7,8-tetrafluoro-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-quinoline-3-carboxylates with methyl methacrylate results in the [3 + 2] adducts, hexahydropyrrolo[1,2-a]quinolones, which can be precursors of [a]-fused fluoroquinolones.

The acid-catalysed cyclisation of caryophyllene-type α-amino oximes results in the formation of new bridged heterocycles with the 5,6-dihydro-4H-[1,2]oxazine moiety.

The treatment of (+)-3-carene nitrosochloride with 1,2-diaminoethane results in bis-α-aminoxime, which undergoes intramolecular cyclisation under phase-transfer conditions to yield an optically active macroheterocyclic compound with two carane moieties incorporated.

The first example of the ring transformation of 1,2,3-thiadiazoles involving four atoms of the side chain to form 5H-[1,2,3]triazolo-[5,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines is presented.

The preparation of (–)-caronaldehyde from monoterpene hydrocarbon ( + )-3-carene is described.

Benzylic oxidation of pinopyridine (I) gives keto derivative (II) which yields (8R)‐amino derivatives (VI) on reductive amination with anisidines.
