The mental health of young people, a significant public health concern worldwide, has deteriorated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the subsiding of the epidemic, the issue remains unresolved in the post-pandemic era, specifically in China. In response, numerous art museums have stepped up to provide long-term therapeutic experiences and comprehensive mental health support. While these institutions offer a variety of services and programs aimed at enhancing the psychological wellbeing of their visitors, a standardized method for assessing their impact is lacking. This study, therefore, employed the Generic Wellbeing Questionnaire (GWQ) as a tool to evaluate the decrease in psychological anxiety among young museum-goers postvisit. A survey was conducted among 306 young visitors aged 15-24 at the Aurora Museum in Shanghai, using the GWQ to measure and compare positive and negative affects before and after their visit. The results revealed an increase in post-visit positive affects and a decrease in negative affects compared to pre-visit levels. All items measured contributed to changes in psychological anxiety, demonstrating that museum visits can alleviate such anxiety among young audiences. Interestingly, while "alert" is considered a positive affect in Western contexts, it is found to be adverse in Chinese contexts, suggesting that it may not be an appropriate item for positive affect. The GWQ thus emerges as a potentially effective tool for evaluating interventions aimed at reducing psychological anxiety among young audiences in Chinese museums. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current study investigated category-based activation of stereotypes when processing of the category primes is mandatory. In three high-powered pre-registered experiments (total n = 211), we compared responses to age-stereotypic traits (e.g., lonely) after presenting matching versus mismatching category primes (old vs. young faces) of which the age information had to be remembered. Experiments varied in stimulus-onset asynchronies (SOA; 250ms vs. 500 ms) and in the inclusion of neutral conditions of prime and target factors. Consistently across all experiments, no facilitation of matching category primes was observed, indicating that category information alone does not facilitate processing of matching stereotypes even if it is attended. Klinefelter syndrome (KS) is a leading contributor to male infertility and is characterised by complex and diverse clinical features; however, genetic changes in the KS transcriptome remain largely unknown. We therefore used transcriptomic and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) datasets from KS versus normal populations through the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to identify gene biomarkers associated with the occurrence of KS. We identified a total of 700 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and completed Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), enrichment pathway analysis and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis. A total of four unreported KS-related hub genes (KIF2C, MRPS2, RPS15 and TSFM) were identified. Validation of the single-cell sequencing dataset showed that only KIF2C and RPS15 were expressed in spermatocytes and that they were differentially expressed in sperm cells. Further construction of the developmental trajectories of these two genes in sperm cells showed that the KIF2C gene showed an upward trend throughout the differentiation and development of sperm cells. In conclusion, we report here that KIF2C may be closely related to the differentiation and development of sperm cells in KS patients, which is important for revealing the molecular mechanism of KS and conducting further studies. Background: The potential effect of alcohol or tea intake on the risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains controversial. Methods: In a population-based case-control study in southern China, we assessed alcohol or tea intake from 2,441 histopathologically confirmed NPC cases and 2,546 controls. We calculated mean daily ethanol (g/day) and tea intake (mL/day). Fully adjusted ORs with 95% confidence intervals (CI) were estimated using logistic regression; potential dose-response trends were evaluated using restricted cubic spline analysis. Results: Compared with nondrinkers, no significantly increased NPC risk in men was observed among current alcohol drinkers overall (OR, 1.08; 95% CI, 0.93-1.25), nor among current heavy drinkers (OR for =90 g/day ethanol vs. none, 1.32; 95% CI, 0.95-1.84) or former alcohol drinkers. Current tea drinking was associated with a decreased NPC risk (OR, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.64-0.84). Compared with never drinkers, those with the low first three quintiles of mean daily current intake of tea were at significantly lower NPC risk (OR, 0.53, 0.68, and 0.65, respectively), but not significant for the next two quintiles. Current daily tea intake had a significant nonlinear dose-response relation with NPC risk. Conclusions: Our study suggests no significant association between alcohol and NPC risk. Tea drinking may moderately reduce NPC risk, but the lack of a monotonic dose-response association complicates causal inference. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
