Cirrhosis is a chronic progressive disease which requires complex care. Its incidence is rising in the Arab countries making it the 7th leading cause of death in the Arab League in 2010. ChatGPT is a large language model with a growing body of literature demonstrating its ability to answer clinical questions. We examined ChatGPT's accuracy in responding to cirrhosis related questions in Arabic and compared its performance to English. ChatGPTs responses to 91 questions in Arabic and English were graded by a transplant hepatologist fluent in both languages. Accuracy of responses was assessed using the scale: 1. Comprehensive, 2. Correct but inadequate, 3. Mixed with correct and incorrect/outdated data, and 4. Completely incorrect. Accuracy of Arabic compared to English responses was assessed using the scale: 1. Arabic response is more accurate, 2. Similar accuracy, 3. Arabic response is less accurate. The model provided 22 (24.2%) comprehensive, 44 (48.4%) correct but inadequate, 13 (14.3%) mixed with correct and incorrect/outdated data and 12 (13.2%) completely incorrect Arabic responses. When comparing the accuracy of Arabic and English responses, 9 (9.9%) of the Arabic responses were graded as more accurate, 52 (57.1%) similar in accuracy and 30 (33.0%) as less accurate compared to English. ChatGPT has the potential to serve as an adjunct source of information for Arabic speaking patients with cirrhosis. The model provided correct responses in Arabic to 72.5% of questions, although its performance in Arabic was less accurate than in English. The model produced completely incorrect responses to 13.2% of questions, reinforcing its potential role as an adjunct and not replacement of care by licensed healthcare professionals. Future studies to refine this technology are needed to help Arabic speaking patients with cirrhosis across the globe understand their disease and improve their outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• Somatosensory system reorganization occurs in unilateral motor stroke. • The hemispheric shift of somatosensory processing provides feedback to post-stroke motor control. • The somatosensory system in the brain could be a new target for movement rehabilitation in stroke. Previous studies found that post-stroke motor impairments are associated with damage to the lesioned corticospinal tract and a maladaptive increase in indirect contralesional motor pathways. How the somatosensory system adapts to the change in the use of motor pathways and the role of adaptive sensory feedback to the abnormal movement control of the paretic arm remains largely unknown. We hypothesize that following a unilateral stroke, there is an adaptive hemispheric shift of somatosensory processing toward the contralesional sensorimotor areas to provide sensory feedback support to the contralesional indirect motor pathways. This research could provide new insights related to somatosensory reorganization after stroke, which could enrich future hypothesis-driven therapeutic rehabilitation strategies from a sensory or sensory-motor perspective. Understanding how somatosensory information shifts may provide a target for a novel method to therapeutically prevent and mitigate the emergence and expression of upper limb motor impairments, following a stroke. Electronic word of mouth (eWOM) plays a critical role in the contemporary online environment. Past studies mainly focused on the helpfulness of eWOM and explored its antecedents and consequences. However, fake reviews and manipulated reviews highlight a need to investigate the credibility of eWOM messages (information credibility). In addition, as the crawling data approach (secondary data) gets popular, different conclusions may be reach compared with traditional self-report primary data. We designed a meta-analysis that contains both meta-analytic structural equation modeling (MASEM) and bivariate meta-analysis to address these issues. The results first indicate the critical role of information credibility on eWOM induced decisions and then illustrate how the relationships between information helpfulness and its antecedents are contingent on data source. Flow experience is a critical lens for investigating the role of website design on consumer satisfaction in online shopping. Since flow is a latent variable that cannot be directly observed, most studies use a questionnaire survey with self-reported data as the predominant method of data gathering. Although many researchers believe that the self-reported approach as a sole measurement method is subject to common method bias (CMB), scholars have different interpretations of this effect. This study designed an experiment with flow experience as a mediator to investigate the relationship between website quality and user satisfaction from a behavioral survey and an electroencephalography (EEG)-based neuroscience method. By adopting Harman's one-factor test and the marker variable technique, the results indicate that the EEG neuroscience method reduces CMB and CMB is not an important issue when considering EEG results. The growing popularity of digital assistants (from Microsoft's Clippy to Amazon's Alexa) is changing how consumers acquire information and make decisions. Often embodied in anthropomorphized forms, digital assistants (DAs) are designed to serve consumers by suggesting relevant products to simplify purchasing decisions. In this work, we aim to understand how consumers evaluate social relationships with different types of DAs and their subsequent effects on purchasing. Our findings show that consumers judge DAs as being more socially close both when DAs are anthropomorphized and when they provide higher-quality recommendations. Evidence from fMRI indicated that both recommendation quality and anthropomorphization fostered greater feelings of social closeness by recruiting similar brain mechanisms involved in mental simulation (i.e., inferior frontal gyrus and cortical midline structures). Although anthropomorphized DAs were evaluated as more socially close, they did not facilitate increased purchase interest, suggesting that stimulation of neural reward networks is also necessary for driving greater purchasing. Mobile applications (apps) cover a large variety of domains; people spend more time daily on apps to manage their jobs. A significant reason for app success is its unique characteristics, which can be attributed to app design and its content features. However, there is less evidence and guidelines to show how app design and its content features affect continuance intention. In this empirical study, we use the perspective of IS effectiveness to evaluate relative factors. We grouped three quality variables to influence intimacy and continuance intention: design quality, information quality, and service quality. The IS success model has been proposed to explain the effect of user behavior on mobile apps. Our findings suggest that design quality, information quality, and service quality impact intimacy, which in turn affects continuance intention. Previous research has proposed different types for and contingency factors affecting information technology governance. Yet, in spite of this valuable work, it is still unclear through what mechanisms IT governance affects organizational performance. We make a detailed argument for the mediation of strategic alignment in this process. Strategic alignment remains a top priority for business and IT executives, but theory-based empirical research on the relative importance of the factors affecting strategic alignment is still lagging. By consolidating strategic alignment and IT governance models, this research proposes a nomological model showing how organizational value is created through IT governance mechanisms. Our research model draws upon the resource-based view of the firm and provides guidance on how strategic alignment can mediate the effectiveness of IT governance on organizational performance. As such, it contributes to the knowledge bases of both alignment and IT governance literatures. Using dyadic data collected from 131 Taiwanese companies (cross-validated with archival data from 72 firms), we uncover a positive, significant, and impactful linkage between IT governance mechanisms and strategic alignment and, further, between strategic alignment and organizational performance. We also show that the effect of IT governance mechanisms on organizational performance is fully mediated by strategic alignment. Besides making contributions to construct and measure items in this domain, this research contributes to the theory base by integrating and extending the literature on IT governance and strategic alignment, both of which have long been recognized as critical for achieving organizational goals. Knowledge management systems (KMS) allow firms to create knowledge and improve organizational creativity to help them sustain a competitive advantage. However, we lack knowledge about the underlying mechanisms for how the different aspects of KMS-based knowledge-creation process (i.e., socialization, externalization, combination, and internalization) enhance organizational creativity and, ultimately, organizational performance. We examine organizational agility's role as a mediator between knowledge creation and organizational creativity and the subsequent effect that creativity has on organizational performance. We also analyze the moderating roles of two key knowledge characteristics, tacitness and institutionalization, in the mediation processes. We found that organizational agility mediated the effect that knowledge creation had on organizational creativity. Moreover, knowledge tacitness moderated the effect that socialization had on organizational creativity. Knowledge institutionalization, on the other hand, moderated the effects that combination and internalization had on organizational creativity. Our findings extend prior research by providing insights into the role that knowledge creation and knowledge characteristics play in stimulating organizational creativity and firm performance. As electronic commerce has penetrated into the publication business, personalized content recommendation has drawn much attention in recent years for automated informational service. In prior literature, several studies have used the concepts of content-based filtering or collaborative filtering to recommend books, articles, and news, among other media. However, either of these methods has limitations, and different content domains may have various needs in making recommendations. To address this gap, we design a hybrid system and apply it to the recommendation of research articles. Our method has the merits of both content-based and collaborative filtering. More importantly, such a hybrid solution is effective in addressing the problems of handling new users and new papers. These problems cannot be solved easily by conventional recommendation approaches, such as K-Nearest Neighbors and (KNN) and Frequent- Pattern Tree (FP-tree). The performance of our proposed system was evaluated in an experiment on published JECR papers to show superiority over benchmarks. Overall, this study makes contributions to information systems (IS) and electronic commerce literature and practice, and suggests that a hybrid solution as presented by our proposed system could better serve readers of academic journal to enhance service quality and user satisfaction. Efficiency of the integration process of Fe/C micro-electrolysis and Fenton for the treatment of coal chemical industry wastewater was studied and the operational parameters were optimized. Response surface methodology was employed to investigate the effects of the main factors (pH, Fe/C ratio and H2O2 dosage) on treatment efficiency and optimize the parameters. The interaction of Fe/C ratio and H2O2 dosage exerted significant effect and the interaction of pH and Fe/C ratio showed moderate effect on COD removal. While the interaction of pH and H2O2 dosage had little effect. The optimal parameters were determined as pH 3.88, 1.04 of Fe/C ratio and 60.25 mg/L of H2O2 dosage, with the predicted optimal COD removal efficiency of 87.27%. The up-flow reactor exhibited high treatment performance and stabilization. The current work could provide scientific and theoretical bases for the treatment of coal chemical industry wastewater and the integration of Fe/C micro-electrolysis and Fenton. It is our pleasure and honor to be the Editor-in-Chief of the Pacific Asia Journal of the Association for Information Systems (PAJAIS). After cultivating over a decade, PAJAIS has become an important platform for researchers to share their high-quality papers. The mission of PAJAIS is to be a leading IS journal. Although the journal intends to have close ties with the communities in Asia Pacific regions, it is an open platform that welcomes submissions on any IS-related topics from authors around the world. In order to provide readers with a better understanding of the profile of PAJAIS, this editorial is the first in the series to summarize what has been published. Electronic commerce (e-commerce) has become a vital research area in the past few decades. Thousands of papers have been published in e-commerce journals and journals in related fields, such as information systems and marketing, influencing the direction and evolution of e-commerce research. The purpose of this paper is to examine how these journals are perceived by academic researchers in terms of their popularity and their contribution to the field of electronic commerce. An online survey was conducted to compare selected journals across four dimensions: popularity, relevance, academic contribution, and publication preference. The sample is comprised of a total of 162 responses from around the world. The journals are classified as either e-commerce or related fields based on their content, while e-commerce journals are further divided into comprehensive and niche journals based on their popularity. The findings indicate that scholars' perceptions of EC journals vary depending on region, age, and academic rank. Both the overall rankings and the regional rankings of these journals are reported. Deep sequencing of small RNAs (sRNA) is widely used in sRNAs studies in plants. In order to investigate the sequencing frequency variation of sRNAs, the same sRNA samples from rice grains were sequenced twice using deep sequencing technique. The sRNAs were classified into three categories, high abundance (> 100 RPM), medium abundance (10–100 RPM) and low abundance (1–10 RPM). According to the repeat sequencing data of the same sample, highly expressed sRNAs (> 100 RPM) were less subject to random drift, and 95% of the sRNAs Log 2 ratio between two samples fell between -0.649 and 0.558. The same trend was observed in mediumly expressed sRNAs (10–100 RPM), and 95% of the Log 2 ratio fell between -0.535 and 0.759. As to lowly expressed sRNAs (1–10 RPM), 95% of the Log 2 ratio varied between -1.009 and 1.011. These results can be used as a theoretical guide to find differentially expressed sRNAs in sRNA studies in plants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In light of the rapid increase in the number of online consumers, advertising on websites is increasingly popular. However, previous research has indicated that consumers have negative attitude toward online advertisements. Hence, how to increase the effectiveness of online ads and understanding what factors affecting consumer attitudes toward website ads are important. This paper reports findings from an experiment that examined the effect of website interactivity, promotional framing (price discounts versus premiums), and different brand images (functional versus symbolic) on consumer attitudes toward the ads and toward the product in the advertisement. The results indicate that both website interactivity and promotional methods can enhance consumer attitudes, but price discount is effective only when the brand perception is functional but not effective when the brand image is symbolic. The findings are valuable to advertisers and researchers in understanding factors that affect the effectiveness of website advertisements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article describes the case of a teenage immunocompetent male patient diagnosed with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease and mycotic meningitis. Brief details about clinical indicators of the VKH disease are presented, noting its link to viral infections. Aside from reduced vision, the patient complained of fever, nausea, and headache. The medications prescribed and administered include voriconazole and retrobulbar injections of dexamethasone and triamcinolone acetonide.

E-tailers provide a variety of customer services, many of which are personalized in an attempt to improve customer satisfaction. Several studies indicate that customers perceive these services to be useful, but it is inconclusive whether this effect is created by economic or emotional factors. This paper proposes a dual core theory that takes into account both economic factors (measured by perceived reduction in transaction costs) and emotional factors (referred to as the perceived care) in their effect on the perceived usefulness of providing personalized customer services. A survey of 387 online bookstore users in Taiwan revealed that different customer services have different perceived usefulness. The study also found that both economic and emotional factors come into play. However, the perceived care has a stronger effect than transaction cost reduction on the perceived usefulness of e-services. This implies that the effect of personalized services is due to both economic and emotional factors, and that e-tailers may use personalized customer services strategically to increase customer care, rather than just focusing on providing economic benefits. Motivating people to contribute knowledge has become an important research topic and a major challenge for organizations. In order to promote knowledge sharing, managers need to understand the mechanism that drives individuals to contribute their valuable knowledge. Several theories have been applied to study knowledge-sharing behavior. However, the research settings and findings are often inconsistent. In this study, we use the social exchange theory as the basis to develop an extended model to explain knowledge-sharing behavior and include IT context as a moderator. A meta-analysis on 52 reported studies was conducted to examine how different factors in the social exchange theory affect knowledge-sharing behavior. The findings indicate that the social exchange theory plays an important role underlying individuals' knowledge-sharing behavior. The results also demonstrate that social interaction and trust can enhance individual's knowledge-sharing behavior. Furthermore, IT facilitation can moderate the effect of social interaction.
