Due to the excessive residues and serious adverse effects, it is urgent to develop an efficient method to detect Hg2+and As3+in drinking water to protect human health. In this study, a novel fluorometric sensor based on chlorophyll-rich carbon quantum dots (CQDs) for the detection of Hg2+and As3+ions was developed. The dual emitting (blue-green and red) CQDs were synthesized by a one-step solvothermal method using plumeria plant leaves as precursors. When Hg2+ions were added in the presence of CQDs, the red emission (676 nm) of the CQDs was quenched (OFF), while in the presence of As3+ions, the blue-green emission (485 nm) was enhanced (ON). The detection limits of 0.99 nM for Hg2+and 12.15 nM for As3+were validated for the proposed sensor. The biocompatibility, cytotoxicity, and bioimaging of the CQDs were investigated in the mouse fibroblast cell line NIH-3T3. The cellular uptake was also studied under the influence of Hg2+and As3+ions. Moreover, the novel chlorophyll-rich CQD-based fluorometric “ON–OFF” dual probe sensor was successfully applied to detect Hg2+and As3+in real water systems as well as in the mouse fibroblast cell line.

This comment provides a critical analysis of a recent paper by Si-Jia-Li et al. In this article, a linear reflective polarization converter was mistakenly identified as a metamaterial-inspired wideband and multiband absorber for two different rotatory angles of serration rings. We have demonstrated that there exhibits substantial orthogonal polarization reflection from reported structure for an incident electromagnetic wave. A careful analysis of the proposed structure reveals that by including the cross-polarized reflected component of the incident wave in the estimation of absorptivity, the absorptivity level drastically decreased from 90% to below 30% over most of the claimed frequency range. Moreover, the reported structure produces more than 90% polarization conversion efficiency rather than high absorptivity performance over the claim operating band.

Ramayana and Bhagvad Gita are predominantly perennial sources of ancient Indian texts that evolved simultaneously with Indian society. Ramayan contains seven chapters that starts with Baalakand and ends upon Uttarkanda. Similarly, Bhagavad Gita's 18 chapters begin with Visada Yoga and end with Moksha Opadesa Yoga. These scriptures carry lessons based on philosophical, spiritual, managerial, technical, cultural, and moral values. This paper discussed various managerial skills and explored the different management lessons learned from Bhagwat Gita and Ramayana for enhancing managerial effectiveness. This paper explores various aspects of management practice like human values, trust, information technology, leadership, motivation, and moral values extracted from Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita. Further, it identifies the impact of these attributes on managerial knowledge-sharing behaviour. The study establishes the relationship among all four variables and proposes a knowledge sharing-based conceptual model.

Purpose Research has pointed towards the emotional component of decisions contributing to the wastage of food at the end of the supply chain. The present study reviews food wastage literature to reveal the role of emotions with respect to regulation, reduction and prevention of food wastage among consumers. Research methodology The study is literature-driven and seeks to uncover latent emotional motives underlying the actions leading to the wastage of food. It utilises previous studies in the fields of consumption emotions, food wastage, pro-environmental behaviour and sustainability to offer unconventional research propositions that underline the interplay of these variables. Findings Based upon the literature, the paradoxical nature of anticipated emotions' influence was considered and confirmed. The findings suggest that the anticipation of experiencing positive emotions due to desires of being recognised as a good provider or expressing one's affection may lead to actions that contribute to increased wastage, while anticipating that a negative affect experience may create a positive outcome with regard to food wastage. Limitations The majority of prior research, related to the relevance of emotions for food wastage behaviour, has focused on negative emotions, leaving a perceptible dearth of insights about the role of positive emotions. Contributions The study builds a novel narrative of how emotions channelise behaviour concerning food wastage, and proffers an argument for a more rigorous examination of emotions, both positive and negative, anticipated in a situation leading to food wastage at the stage of consumption. It also identifies potential avenues for research into emotions related to food wastage.

To assess the medico social demographics of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in our community we studied 609 patients presenting between January 2008 to December 2008 with a detailed questionnaire in four centres of UP. Medical attention was sought late (6 hours) in 316 (51.6%), thrombolysis was obtained in 45.2% (275) and presentation was atypical in 16.3% (99). 36.2% (221) had pre-monitory symptoms of which 68% (150) ignored the same while of 32% (71) who did seek medical attention 47.9% (37) were brushed away as non-cardiac in origin. 20.3% (46/226) of hypertension, 23.2% (43/185) of diabetes and 83.4% (91/109) of hyperlipidaemia was diagnosed post event. We conclude that at least half of patients with AMI do not get definitive therapy, at least one in 10 patients do not have the classical symptoms, reasonable proportion are unaware of their risk factors, and a good majority have pre-monitory symptoms which get overlooked.
