The distribution of nodal distance is of vital importance in connectivity analysis of wireless ad hoc networks. Existing research on distance distribution focuses on static network deployment. In this paper we consider the distribution of nodal distance between uniformly deployed static nodes and multiple mobile nodes. The Random-Way-Point (RWP) mobility model is applied for mobile nodes. We derive the analytic expressions of the cumulative distribution function and probability density function of the nodal distance in square and circular areas. The validity of our theoretical results is verified through computer simulations, which show that the analytical results are consistent with the simulated results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
