- Abstract
This article discusses the diplomatic policies employed by Romulus and Numa Pompilius, the legendary first and second kings of Ancient Rome. The author comments on their pacifistic tendencies with neighboring nations and peoples, particularly those of the Lazio, an ancient region of Italy. He analyzes the diplomacy structured and developed by Romulus and examines Numa Pompilius' efforts to increase and extend these policies during his reign. The legal aspects of this Roman diplomacy, including such concepts as Hospitium, Ius gentium, and Prisci Latini, are also explored.
