Background: This report describes the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) experience in establishing a dedicated mailbox, and in publishing related guidance, to address concerns among interested parties regarding the conduct of clinical trials during the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE). Methods: Six hundred and thirty-four mailbox inquiries were received from March 2020 through February 2022. Qualitative methods were used to provide a structured description of, and identify common themes among, these inquiries. Results: Most inquiries came from U.S.-based interested parties, including sponsors, industry trade associations, academic institutions, hospitals, clinics, research sites, trial participants, and individual persons. Approximately one-fifth of questions were related directly to COVID-19 (e.g., proposals for treatment); other inquiries were related to conduct of routine trial-related activities, and concerns were often focused on maintaining compliance with good clinical practice. In March 2020, FDA published a guidance titled Conduct of Clinical Trials of Medical Products During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency; the document was subsequently revised eight times based in part on issues raised in mailbox inquiries. Conclusions: The dedicated mailbox enabled expedited communication among invested parties during the COVID-19 PHE; FDA also provided updates of the aforementioned guidance. These efforts supported the continuance of ongoing trials and the initiation of new trials during the PHE in accordance with good clinical practice guidelines, thereby helping to ensure the safety of trial participants while maintaining the quality of trial data. Background and Aims: Highly cited papers (HCPs) can influence both research and clinical practice. They help to identify core literature and important advances in a field. This study aimed to assess the current status and prospects of South Asia COVID-19 research from the HCPs using bibliometric indicators. Methodology: COVID-19 literature from South Asia published between December 2019 and 29 November 2023 in the Scopus database was analysed. The top HCPs, having more than 200 citations, were evaluated. Information about citation counts, authors and organisations and their affiliations, year of publication, source journal, geographical origin, subject, article type, funding details, etc. were retrieved and analysed. Data and visualisation analysis was undertaken using Microsoft Excel and other bibliometric software. Results: The 298 South Asia HCPs were published from 2020 to 2023 and were cited 200–3,596 times, with a mean average of 413.9 citations per paper (CPP). Around 24.5% and 51.3% of HCPs received external funding support and were involved in international collaboration, respectively. The most productive organisations were the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, and the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, while the most impactful organisations were Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children, Mumbai, and Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute, Mumbai. The most productive journals were Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome: Clinical Research & Reviews. Conclusions: This study has identified core and significant authors, organisations, journals, subject fields and significant keywords, collaborators and funding agencies involved in South Asia's COVID-19 research. Objectives: This study compared the research output of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries to understand research trends and clarify past, present, and future patterns using scientometric techniques. Methods: This scientometric study systematically mined health and social science publications from the Web of Science and Scopus databases using keywords associated with infectious disease. The analysis included only English-language articles and review articles by authors from any ASEAN country. Publication, citation, and text co-occurrence network analyses were performed. R Studio and VOSviewer enabled data management, analysis, and visualization. Results: Searches identified 12,511 articles published between 1925 and 2022, with a notable increase in research publications since 2003. The leading journals on infectious disease were associated with established publishing houses, including BMC, BMJ, and The Lancet. The most-cited articles were primarily global burden of disease studies, with 7,367 citations. Among ASEAN countries, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore had the most publications and collaborative efforts on the topic. Analysis of keyword co-occurrence revealed clusters related to global health, dengue, bacterial studies, non-dengue viral topics, and diagnostics. Most early studies examined diagnostics, gene and sequencing methodologies, and virology; later, the focus shifted toward herbal and alternative medicine. Conclusion: Recently, the research capacity of Southeast Asia has expanded dramatically, with substantial contributions from high-income countries. Intense cooperation between member states is essential, emphasizing the role of HICs in supporting their neighbors. Increased research efforts and collaboration must be dedicated to innovative approaches to combat persistent health conditions, along with emerging issues like climate change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) place significant financial burdens on individuals, communities, and countries. However, very little information is available regarding the extent of diabetes expenses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). As far as we are aware, no comprehensive systematic literature review on diabetes cost in KSA has been published yet. Objective: The purpose of the analysis is to gather information about the direct and indirect costs of diabetes mellitus in KSA from the literature, examine the techniques employed to estimate costs, and discover potential avenues for further investigation. Methods: A systematic literature search will be performed to identify studies that reported the cost of diabetes mellitus in KSA. A rigorous literature search will be conducted using the following academic electronic databases: Scopus, Medline (via PubMed), Cochrane, Springer, Science Direct, and Web of Science. The eligibility criteria employed for the study will encompass the following aspects: examination of peer-reviewed articles in English which were published within the timeframe of 2010 to 2023, articles presenting novel research outcomes regarding the cost of diabetes mellitus, and studies conducted in KSA. To gather the necessary information, data will be extracted in sheets, and the results will be systematically arranged within tables. Results: We have reviewed the cost of diabetes mellitus. Extracted articles will be analyzed in the results based on the direct and indirect costs per patient of diabetes mellitus. The papers will be analyzed on the bases of study design, data source, perspective, and the healthcare cost categories. BACKGROUND: Research is critical for the advancement of respiratory care. Fellows of the American Association for Respiratory Care (FAARCs) are nominated based on their significant contributions to the respiratory care profession. Research output is potentially an important component of qualification for FAARC. The purpose of this study is to report the academic output of respiratory therapist (RT) FAARCs. METHODS: We identified FAARCs from the AARC web site. Research output was assessed by searching the Scopus and PubMed databases. We collected total research documents, citations, h-index, co-authors, and document type. We compared those with only the FAARC designation with RTs who are fellows in both the Society of Critical Care Medicine (FCCMs) and FAARC. RESULTS: We identified a total of 371 RT FAARCs, 4 RT FCCMs, and 10 with both designations. FAARCs were 70% male, 22% had a doctorate, 37% had a master's, 13% had a bachelor's, and 29% did not have a degree reported. There were no differences in sex or highest degree between FAARCs and FCCMs. FAARCs had a total of 3,724 publications and 110,207 citations while those with both designations had 1,304 publications and 43,181 citations. In Scopus, 46% of FAARCs had no publications, and 27% had 6 10 publications; of those with both credentials, 10% had no publications, and 70% had 6 10 publications. FAARCs inducted in 1998 and 1999 had significantly (P < .001) more publications than other eras. Compared to those with both credentials, FAARCs had fewer median publications (1 vs 50), lower h-index (1 vs 18), and fewer citations (1 vs 1,486), P < .001 for all. Total publications in PubMed were lower, and differences in publications were similar. CONCLUSIONS: RT FAARCs had a large number of publications and citations, although nearly half did not have any publications. U.S. journalists embedded in rural and agricultural communities could adversely affect the health of residents if they avoid alerting and engaging their readers – farmers, ranchers, and community members – on environmental and health issues. We expected reporters would maintain community status quo and inaction by framing local water pollution and quality issues neutrally deemphasizing threats and solutions to maintain their own credibility as unbiased informational sources. In a content analysis of local water quality newspaper articles from five farming and cattle ranching states in the west central U.S. Midwest, we employed seven variables to investigate whether journalists practiced neutral, detached forms of journalism (i.e. dissemination versus interpretative role enactment, government-frame) as well as whether they deemphasized water pollution as a concerning issue (i.e. problem, threat), water pollution solutions, and readers' efficaciousness. The results showed these journalists relied heavily on government-driven narratives presenting water quality issues from an impartial, straight reporting lens in which they primarily followed the journalistic dissemination role enactment, while neglecting to provide readers with interpretative, threat, efficacy, or solution's information. The study seeks to help communicators understand the information diet people living in this part of the country likely receive on environmental and health risks in the context of water pollution. Communicators seeking to reach and affect audiences in this region should understand local information practices to navigate how to craft culturally specific public health messages. This article examines the connection between John Lyly, the Marprelate Controversy, and the 1589 version of Hamlet. It argues that the Marprelate controversy, a pamphlet war challenging the established order, led to the inhibition of stage performances mentioned in Hamlet. John Lyly's involvement in the controversy resulted in the dissolution of the Paul's Boys acting troupe. The article suggests that the 1589 version of Hamlet, known as Q1 or the Ur-Hamlet, was likely written by William Shakespeare and alludes to the Marprelate controversy. Background: In previous decades, large-scale research has been carried out on bacterial meningitis. In every field, citation analysis is the most significant contribution. The study's objective was to identify and analyze the 100 articles on bacterial meningitis that received the most citations between 2000 and 2023, highlighting the most significant developments in the field. Objective: The objective of this study was to find out what makes a highly influential article by identifying and analyzing the characteristics of the 100 articles in the field of bacterial meningitis that receive the most citations. The goal of this study was to find and examine the 100 articles on bacterial meningitis that received the most citations. Methodology: We identified the top 100 most-cited papers in the field of bacterial meningitis from 55 journals using the Dimensions AI database. The results of each author's analysis of 100 articles were then compared. We gathered fundamental data such as the journal's title, country of publication, and study type. Descriptive counts or percentages were used to compare the various categories. Results: Between the year 2000 and the year 2023, articles were published. The total number of citations ranged from 115 to 1176, with 42 papers receiving more than 200 citations. In 2008, 14 articles were published, followed by 10 in 2000 and 2007. One thousand one hundred and seventy-six times were given to the most-cited paper, whereas 115 times were given to the least-cited article. "Clinical Features and Prognostic Factors in Adults with Bacterial Meningitis," by Diederik van de Beek, et al. (2004) was the article that received the most citations. 1176 people have cited this article. van de Beek Diederik of the Academic Medical Center in The Netherlands is the author who has written the most articles, was mentioned in 14 of the top 100 articles. Papers were primarily published in Pediatrics (n = 9) publication with 1861 citations. The Netherlands came in second with 18 publications, followed by the United States (n = 46). Conclusion: Our study uses bibliometrics and visualization analysis of the most important articles in this field to show the current state of research in the area of bacterial meningitis, provide a history of research trends, and offer a perspective for future bacterial predicts the growth of meningitis. Best selling "how to" books often change in the course of time but how, when and why they change can be difficult to determine. Not only might the author and publisher be jointly responsible for modifying a book's content but, to complicate matters further, many successful books were "pirated" in the past, violating the equivalent of today's copyright laws. It was not rare for such pirate editions to modify the original text, in some instances even "improving" on the original. This study of an eighteenth-century cookbook, La Cuisinière bourgeoise -- one of the best-selling cookbooks ever published in France -- calls attention to the many ruses used by the author, the authorised publisher, and their unauthorized competitors to attract new readers, and to the difficulties historians may encounter when using these books as primary source material for their research. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among all non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Vietnam. The objectives of the present study were to analyse contemporary gaps in CVD control studies, which were published in Vietnam between 2013 and 2017. A systematic literature review was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses. Research articles written in English or Vietnamese, published between 2013 and 2017, and focused on the four main WHO themes of CVD control were identified. Among 11,385 Vietnamese-based CVD studies published during this period, only 119 studies (1.0%) were relevant to public health CVD control outcomes, and only 17 of 20 CVD indicators were addressed in these studies. Most studies were published in Vietnamese journals (73.9%), focused on disease and intermediate risk factors (73.9%), were cross-sectional (84.8%) and hospital-based (54.6%). We observed a lack of studies, many of which suffered design and analysis limitations, focused on several WHO themes for effective CVD control. Future Vietnamese-based CVD control studies should focus on the WHO-recommended themes and health indicators in broader community settings to provide better data to inform effective public health policies to control CVD. BACKGROUND: There are 3 pillars upon which the foundation of a teaching program in health care is founded: research, education, and clinical care. However, in a busy academic trauma practice, the unfortunate reality is that research is often a low priority in the frenzy of mandates for clinical productivity. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this report is to advise hospitals on how to create a modest trauma research program that supports research interests without significantly impacting the overall clinical productivity of the department. METHODS: Relevant literature related to the development of an academic trauma research department was reviewed. Relevant articles were then compared to this manuscript to assess the novelty of the topic. RESULTS: There are 4 essential components of a trauma research program: (1) a zealot, (2) institutional commitment and support, (3) a statistician, and (4) registry data access. CONCLUSION: The creation of a trauma research program may seem like a herculean effort, but this work is necessary for institutions hoping to achieve status as a Level I/II trauma center. Both social media marketing and the digital activity of Instagram influencers have transformed the virtual landscape of book promotion. In other words, the growth of the #bookstagram community has given the entire publishing industry the opportunity to interact with potential readers and, by extension, increase product visibility through the social media platform Instagram. With this in mind, the present study aims to deepen the importance of promotion techniques within bookstagram and, moreover, to portray the modern methods implemented as central pillars in 21st century marketing strategies. Therefore, the paper investigates the broad spectrum of online approaches accessible to book influencers in the field of social media marketing through qualitative research, with in-depth interviews as the research method. As promotion can be achieved through a number of valuable techniques, the research focuses on highlighting the bookstagram tour, but also other equally effective strategies in terms of expanding the target audience and maximizing interactions. Moreover, there is the approach of types of posts, the involvement of awards or even touching on divergent topics of the books. Thus, by examining the phenomenon present in social media - influencer marketing and their methods of attracting consumer attention, the paper helps to build on the literature and offers new insights for both publishers and influencers. In particular, the research contributes to the evolving information on influencer marketing and highlights the importance of incorporating social media into marketing strategies to keep the online landscape current and dynamic. In the 1930s, the pages of Editor & Publisher were filled with nuanced stories revealing the many ethical challenges facing journalism amid the economic woes of the Great Depression, increased public scrutiny over news, and the influence of New Deal policies on journalistic practices in the US. Industry insiders discussed everything from how to best report criminal activities and sports to how to best write about the nation's economic plight all while keeping the public's interest in mind. Analysis of 265 E&P issues, published between 1930 and 1934, found that reporters of the day were highly concerned about ethics in the professional practice of journalism during a time when the newspaper industry faced challenges such as outside scrutiny, governmental critique, and diminished public support. It will be argued that these ethical conversations among journalists promoted functions of a press system outlined by the Social Responsibility Theory of the Press more than a decade before its adoption by the Hutchins Commission in 1947. Plain Language Summary of Publication articles (PLSPs) are aimed at non-specialist audiences, using non-technical/jargon-free and easy to understand language to provide summaries of publications. The introduction of PLSPs has added to the growing need for medical publishers to reach and engage patient audiences. This has introduced new challenges for publishers, including raising awareness of the existence of PLSPs and making them easily discoverable for patients as well as fostering trust in medical publi - cations within the patient community. The present article provides a brief historiographical analysis of the editorial year 'Avram Iancu 150,' which saw the publication of seven volumes of history, literature, poetry, critical literature, and drama dedicated to the hero of the Romanian Revolution of 1848-1849 in Transylvania. Four books were published by the Scoala Ardeleana publishing house of Cluj-Napoca, the only publishing house in Romania to have undertaken a large-scale publishing project dedicated to restoring the life and memory of Avram Iancu for the 21st-century reader, two volumes were published by the Techno Media publishing house of Sibiu, and another volume by the Theosis publishing house of Oradea. Two of the six volumes are critical re-editions of works written in the first half of the 20th century by two distinguished personalities of Romanian culture: philosopher, writer and playwright Lucian Blaga and historian Silviu Dragomir. The other volumes were authored by writer Mircea Tomus, critic and literary historian Mircea Popa, historian Lucian Giura, librarian Maria Grancea, and Father Ion Alexandru Mizgan of the Orthodox Church. In interwar Romania, a geopolitical school of exceptional quality operated, which explained the reasons for the Romanian state as it was unified in 1918, and proposed solutions for its consolidation in the Romanian geopolitical space. After a period of quasi-ignorance and hostility to geopolitics, after 1989 it forcefully returned to the attention of scholars and the public. The new research directions aim at the recovery of the interwar school, the systematization and interpretation of classical theories, and the approach of Romanian interests in the new geopolitical context. Universities, private research organizations, publishing houses, and journals mobilized for this purpose. A body of specialized experts has produced an impressive number of volumes, studies, and articles. We aim to list, as close as possible to reality, these publications, to classify them, to measure their usefulness, and to identify the beneficiaries. We will thus demonstrate that a new geopolitical school operates in Romania, in direct descent from the classical one. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of self-medication practices among students by conducting a bibliometric analysis of the available scientific literature. This research highlights the importance of promoting safe and responsible healthcare behaviors among students. Methods: A systematic search was conducted in the Scopus database to retrieve all peer-reviewed English articles and reviews published from 1968 onwards. The retrieved documents were analyzed to identify publication trends, citation counts, top journals, geographical distribution, and emerging research themes. Results: The findings indicate a significant increase in published literature about student self-medication over the past fifteen years. However, it was observed that the citation count for these documents was lower than expected, suggesting a need for increased attention toward this critical topic. The analysis also identified several hot topics in student self-medication, including the misuse of over-the-counter medications, dietary supplements, and psychoactive substances. The inappropriate use of antibiotics and the self-medication of mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, were also identified as significant problems. Conclusions and recommendations: Self-medication among students is a complex and critical issue that requires immediate attention. This study highlights the urgent need for greater awareness and education regarding responsible self-medication practices among students. New policies, interventions, and strategies should be developed to address malpractices, misconceptions, and harmful practices related to self-medication. Educational institutions and health authorities should play a crucial role in providing students with mental health resources and support services. Collaborative efforts among healthcare providers, universities, and policymakers are required to consider this issue as public health priority, establish counseling centers, organize stress management and mental health workshops and develop comprehensive programs to control risks associated with student self-medication. Objective: Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up is the Professional Pharmaceutical Care Service aimed at detecting Drug-Related Problems for the prevention and resolution of negative medicine outcomes. The Dader Method is considered a clear and simple tool to develop Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up. This research aims to analyze the evolution of the international scientific production related to Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up and the Dader Method to show the current situation of this Professional Pharmacy Assistance Service. In addition, from the data obtained, we give a critical perspective on the implementation of the Dader Method in Community Pharmacy, considering its advantages and disadvantages based on the published scientific literature. Methods: Using bibliometrics tools, indicators were obtained to analyze the international production of scientific articles on Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up and the Dader Method during the period (1999-2022) through the Scopus database. Results: The results showed a growth in the international scientific production of publications on Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up, obtaining 30,287 papers, placing the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Spain as the five most productive countries. The publication of 83 papers on the Dader Method places Spain with the highest number of publications, followed by other Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries, among which Brazil and Colombia have the most prominent number of published papers in Latin America. The most frequent international journal covering the topic of Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up was the American Journal of Health-Pharmacy (12.4%), while on the Dader Method, the journal Pharmaceutical Care Spain (21.7%) is in the first position, followed by Farmacia Hospitalaria (8.4%). Conclusion: The publications on the Dader method highlighs the greater productivity of the University of Granada and the author María José Faus Dáder. The inclusion of patients in the PTF service using the Dader Method, is more frequent in the hospital context, and is based on the presence of defined chronic pathologies (mainly diabetes), polymedication or specialized care follow-up, with elderly population being the most represented in all cases. Purpose: Does collecting and publishing rural nurse stories have impact? This article evaluates the impact of the design and content of a rural book capturing rural nurse stories across Aotearoa New Zealand. Did reading the book alter reader perception of rural nursing or have wider effects? Sample: Readers of a narrative book including rural nurses' stories and imagery from across Aotearoa New Zealand were invited to complete a survey of their impressions. There were 42 responses received, a 22 per cent response rate. Of these, four did not read the book, leaving 38 responses for analysis of impact. These included seven of the original nurse storytellers, other nurses, and non-nurses. Method: The primary method was a survey of recipients of the book. This included quantitative demographic data and qualitative open question responses. Surveys were sent via email using Qualtrics with a link for completion with two automated reminders. Findings: Reading and viewing the narratives in this book impacted positively on nurses and non-nurses' awareness of the breadth and complexity of rural nurse practice in Aotearoa New Zealand. The distribution of the book as a physical copy meant that on average each book was viewed by at least six people. The presentation of the book was important, with readers valuing the wide variety of narratives including images, maps, poetry, and stories. Over half of respondents identified that the Maori (indigenous peoples of New Zealand) content reinforced the importance of Maori health particularly in the rural setting. This narrative resource will continue to impact future health professionals' awareness of rural nursing as over one third of participants intended to use the book as a teaching resource. Conclusion: There is intrinsic and extrinsic value to rural nurses telling their stories to both nurses and a broader audience. These stories increase awareness and can influence future policy and action. To add value to the stories, include multiple narratives of place and context, including visual images. Importance: A contributing factor to the gap between research publication and clinical implementation is the lack of specificity used when reporting findings. Objective: This scoping review used the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS) to determine which elements of specificity are most often present and omitted from research using Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI). Data Sources: The following databases were searched: PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, and ERIC. Study Selection and Data Collection: Eligible studies used ASI in an outpatient setting with children who had sensory integration or processing difficulties. Studies selected were quantitative (Level 1, 2, 3, or 4), available in full text, peer reviewed, and published in English within the past 20 yr. Findings: Of the 22 studies that met inclusion criteria, 100% included ingredients (actions of the therapist), 63% included mechanisms of action (reasoning behind these actions), 86% included targets, and 23% described client progression. We also found that 49% of all ingredients were listed in conjunction with a target, 15% were listed in conjunction with a mechanism of action, and 11% were listed in conjunction with both a target and a mechanism of action. Conclusions and Relevance: Findings indicate that many studies list ingredients but often omit the mechanism of action. This omission makes replication of the intervention increasingly difficult and prevents a deeper understanding of the clinical reasoning process behind the intervention.
