- Abstract
Large number of nitrogenous fertilizers turned out to be applied to plants for maintenance and boosting yields. The nitrogen efficiency of synthetic fertilizers remains very less and it paves the way for serious environmental problems such as leaching and nitrate pollution in the soil, air streak mortification like greenhouse gas ejections. Nitrification inhibitors alleviate drop of nitrification. Biological nitrification inhibition had spectacularly enlarged its attention because of its modest cost and its ecofriendly attributes. Reduction of ill impacts of nitrogen loss on the environment had been revamped with an improvement in the nitrogen use efficiency and reduction of nitrous oxide emission, which has now become a point of interest. The current novel idea is to bring down the quantity of nitrogenous fertilizers to a reasonable extent and the usage of nitrogenous fertilizers synergists. In this review, it was hypothesized that, application of nitrification inhibitors could increase the positive supply of soil nitrogen capacity over time duration and it aids in reduction of nitrous oxide emission in-addition it helps in enhancement of N-recovery in the cropping system.
