Abstract

This study simulates movable fire load with wood cribs to investigate the impact of wood crib structure on burning behavior. It is found that, with the same fire load, the change of crib structure has a considerable effect on the development of combustion. When the stacking density increases, combustion slows down; the growth of combustion in vertical structures is faster than in horizontal ones, which dramatically affects the growth rate and the maximum heat release rate.
