With the development of social economy and radiotherapy technique, proton/heavy ion radiotherapy has been applied widely to clinical practices. At present, there are at least 29 hospitals in China at various stages of planning, construction, commissioning or clinical operation of medical proton/heavy ion beam radiotherapy equipment. Compared with common radiotherapy accelerators used in conventional external beam radiotherapy, the proton/heavy ion therapy system has more stringent requirements for quality control so as to achieve an optimum therapeutic effect. In order to protect the health rights of patients undergoing radiotherapy, to facilitate the relevant administrative supervision departments to carry out standard-based approval and routine supervision and to promote the development of related medical undertakings, the standard for testing of quality control for medical proton/heavy ion beam radiotherapy equipment is drafted to fill the gap in this regard in China and even worldwide. The standard contains five indicators and corresponding testing methods for radiological protection and safety and 16 indicators for quality control of equipment performance. The standard is a mandatory standard and is based on the relevant Chinese legal requirements for the testing of radiotherapy equipment, so all the indicators listed in the standard shall be tested. During the drafting of the standard, the opinions from hospitals that are currently using proton/heavy ion medical accelerators for radiotherapy purpose and from the related equipment manufacturers were taken into account. The draft standard was revised with reference to these opinions and the feasibility of the related quality control requirements. The official version of the standard was released on March 7, 2023, and implementation is scheduled to begin on March 1, 2024.

Molecular chirality recognition plays a pivotal role in chiral generation and transfer in living systems and makes important contribution to the development of diverse applications spanning from chiral separation to soft nanorobots. To detect chirality recognition, most of the molecular sensors described to date are based on the design and preparation of the host–guest complexation with chromophore or fluorophore at the reporter unit. Nevertheless, the involved tedious procedures and complicated chemical syntheses hamper their practical applications. Here, we report the plasmonically chiroptical detection of molecular chirality recognition without the need for a chromophore or fluorophore unit. This facile methodology is based on plasmonic nanotransducers that can convert molecular chirality recognitions occurring at nanoscale interfaces into asymmetrically amplified plasmonic circular dichroism readouts, enabling enantiospecific recognition and quantitative determination of the enantiomeric excess of small amino acids. Importantly, such a plasmon-based chirality sensing shows 102–103amplification in the plasmonic circular dichroism signals from the detections of racemate and near-racemate of molecular analysts, demonstrating an extraordinary sensitivity to the host–guest enantioselective interactions. Furthermore, with advantages of easy-processing, cost-effective, and specific to interfacial molecular chirality, our chiroptical sensing scheme could hold considerable promise toward applications of enantioselective high-throughput screening in biology, stereochemistry, and pharmaceutics.

Artificial intelligence systems can use machine learning algorithms to remarkably improve logistics demand forecasting. This study proposes a novel agri-product logistics demand forecasting model based on a hybrid approach of nonlinear principal component analysis and a grey wolf optimiser-based support vector regression machine. Its performance is investigated experimentally using a case study of agri-product logistics demand in Liaoning Province, China. Comparison with similar models demonstrates that: 1) the proposed model more accurately forecasts agri-product logistics demand; 2) nonlinear principal component analysis significantly outperforms conventional principal component analysis; 3) the grey wolf optimiser greatly improves the performance of the support vector regression machine.

Botrytis cinerea(B. cinerea) and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides(C. gloeosporioides) were isolated from the decaying strawberry tissue. The antifungal properties of Monarda didymaessential oil (MEO) and its nanoemulsion were confirmed, demonstrating complete inhibition of the pathogens at concentrations of 0.45 μL/mL (0.37 mg/mL) and 10 μL/mL, respectively. Thymol, a primary component of MEO, was determined as an antimicrobial agent with IC50values of 34.51 (B. cinerea) and 53.40 (C. gloeosporioides) μg/mL. Hippophae rhamnoidesoil (HEO) was confirmed as a potent antioxidant, leading to the development of a thymol-HEO-chitosan film designed to act as an antistaling agent. The disease index and weight loss rate can be reduced by 90 and 60%, respectively, with nutrients also being well-preserved, offering an innovative approach to preservative development. Studies on the antifungal mechanism revealed that thymol could bind to FKS1 to disrupt the cell wall, causing the collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential and a burst of reactive oxygen species.

Nitrogen/sulfur-codoped mesoporous carbon (CMK-3P) was readily prepared through direct carbonization of a protic salt [Phen][2HSO4] in the presence of pristine SBA-15 template without the use of acid or metal catalysts for prepolymerization. CMK-3P is characteristic of the presence of large mesopores and even macropores caused by the curved and intertwined nanorods, high surface area (1030 m2 g[?]1), large pore volume (2.403 cm3 g[?]1) and high nitrogen (6.0 at%) and sulfur (0.61 at%) contents. These characteristics make CMK-3P as an efficient metal-free catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction.

PTPN12 is an important tumor suppressor that plays critical roles in various physiological processes. However, the molecular basis underlying the substrate specificity of PTPN12 remains uncertain. Here, enzymological and crystallographic studies have enabled us to identify two distinct structural features that are crucial determinants of PTPN12 substrate specificity: the pY+1 site binding pocket and specific basic charged residues along its surface loops. Key structurally plastic regions and specific residues in PTPN12 enabled recognition of different HER2 phosphorylation sites and regulated specific PTPN12 functions. In addition, the structure of PTPN12 revealed a CDK2 phosphorylation site in a specific PTPN12 loop. Taken together, our results not only provide the working mechanisms of PTPN12 for desphosphorylation of its substrates but will also help in designing specific inhibitors of PTPN12.

The application of cadmium sulfide is severely limited by photo-corrosion and electron-hole recombination. In this work, hierarchically structured Zr-based UiO-67 assembled from ultrathin nanosheets was rapidly synthesized by microwave and treated as support to disperse CdS and Pt NPs. Owing to the intimate interfacial contact between CdS and UiO-67, synthesized CdS/Pt/UiO-67 composites exhibit higher activity of hydrogen evolution than that of pure CdS under visible light irradiation. Femtosecond transient absorption spectra has been utilized to reveal the charge separation kinetics in CdS/Pt/UiO-67. In CdS/Pt/UiO-67 composites, MOF is not only used as support to disperse CdS, but also acted as electron trapping agent to reduce the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes. This work makes us have a deeper understanding of the charge transfer between semiconductor and MOF materials.

Many studies have provided convincing evidence for hERG as an important diagnostic and prognostic factor in human cancers, as well as a useful target for antineoplastic therapy. Our previous study also revealed that knockdown of herggene expression by shRNA interference inhibited the growth of neuroblastoma cells in vitro and in vivo. In the experiment, a novel 4-amino piperidine analog, ZC88, was examined for its effect on hERG potassium channels and its antitumor potency was observed in vitro and in vivo. The results showed that ZC88 could block hERG1 and hERG1b channels expressed in Xenopus oocytes in a concentration-dependent manner. ZC88 displayed significant antiproliferative activity in several tumor cell lines and the tumor cells with higher expression of hERG presented higher sensitivity to ZC88. The mitotic progression of tumor cells was markedly suppressed in the presence of ZC88 through arresting cells in G0/G1phase. ZC88 significantly inhibited the tumor growth in nude mice at a dosage with slight influence on the cardiac QT interval. The antitumor effect of ZC88 was correlated at least partly with its blockage of hERG channels, which implicated a positive role of hERG potassium channel in tumor cell proliferation.

Aims To investigate the different risk factors among different subtypes of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS).Methods A total of 296 patients who had ACS were retrospectively enrolled. Blood and echocardiographic indices were assessed within 24 hours after admission. Differences in risk factors and Gensini scores of coronary lesions among three groups were analyzed.Results Univariate analysis of risk factors for ACS subtypes showed that age, and levels of fasting plasma glucose, amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, and creatine kinase isoenzyme were significantly higher in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) than in those with unstable angina pectoris (UAP). Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide and the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were related to ACS subtypes. The left ventricular end-diastolic diameter was an independent risk factor for UAP and ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) subtypes. The severity of coronary stenosis was significantly higher in NSTEMI and STEMI than in UAP. Gensini scores in the STEMI group were positively correlated with D-dimer levels (r = 0.429) and negatively correlated with the LVEF (r = −0.602).Conclusion Different subtypes of ACS have different risk factors. Our findings may have important guiding significance for ACS subtype risk assessment and clinical treatment.
