A cryochemical synthesis of silver nanoparticles stabilised by poly(2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) (poly-DMAEMA) has been performed; it has been found using optical spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering and electron microscopy that silver sols prepared with these nanoparticles in water, acetone and toluene are sterically stabilised by macromolecular poly-DMAEMA layers formed at the surface of nanoparticles, and the thickness of these layers depends on the nature of the solvent.

Joint condensation of silver vapour and methyl acrylate under vacuum onto a surface cooled with liquid nitrogen, followed by heating of the resulting co-condensate to room temperature, leads to partial polymerisation of the methyl acrylate and formation of highly stable organosols containing up to =0.5 mg ml-1 of silver; the size of the metal particles does not exceed 15 nm.

Combined condensation of silver, lead and methyl acrylate vapours in a vacuum onto a glass reactor surface cooled by liquid nitrogen followed by melting and heating of the co-condensate results in the formation of organosols consisting of bimetallic particles capable of aggregation; the size of these particles does not exceed 5 nm.
