Teaching complex instrumental analysis with real-life applications is vital for enhancing students’ understanding and cultivating their interest in learning. This study utilizes olive oil as a pedagogical medium, offering educational insights into the practical applications of ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometry for assessing edible oil quality upon thermal treatment. Through a questionnaire survey involving 197 undergraduate participants, this work aims to deepen the understanding of UV absorption techniques with practical relevance. It evaluates participants’ comprehension and proficiency in UV spectrophotometry analysis and discusses improvements in pedagogical approaches for teaching knowledge related to light absorption.

• When modified recombinant human type III collagen (rhCOLIII-MA) is combined with gelatin methacrylate (GelMA), a native skin-like ECM network can be achieved through 3D printing. • The Lip@SB-loaded rhCOLIII-MA/GelMA scaffold (CGL) effectively promoted in vitro wound healing, while enabling controlled release of SB431542 to inhibit pathological collagen deposition. • A full-thickness skin defect rat model revealed the significant potential of the CGL dermal scaffold in minimizing scar contraction, stimulating functional neovascularization, and enhancing graft aesthetics, surpassing that of commercially available anti-scarring alternatives. • This innovative strategy presents a straightforward approach toward scarless skin regeneration and holds promise in alleviating the prolonged, painful postoperative rehabilitation. Abnormal wound scarring often leads to functional impairments and cosmetic deformities, primarily driven by the prolonged activation of the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway. Addressing this challenge, we developed a biomimetic scaffold aimed at facilitating rapid and scarless wound healing. This highly integrated 3D-printed dermal scaffold comprised modified recombinant human type III collagen (rhCOLIII-MA), gelatin methacrylate (GelMA), and liposomes encapsulating SB431542 to target TGF-β1 (Lip@SB). The rhCOLIII-MA/GelMA (CG) scaffold retained inherent biomaterial characteristics, exhibited tailored physicochemical properties, and demonstrated favorable biocompatibility. Moreover, the Lip@SB-loaded CG scaffold (CGL) effectively promoted in vitro wound healing, while enabling controlled release of SB431542 to inhibit pathological collagen deposition. In a full-thickness skin defect rat model, the CGL dermal scaffold combined with split-thickness skin graft (STSG) minimized scar contraction, stimulated functional neovascularization, and enhanced graft aesthetics comparable to normal skin. Remarkably, the performance of the CGL scaffold surpassed that of commercially available anti-scarring alternatives. Tetrazine-derived fluorogenic labels are extensively studied for their potential in biological and medical imaging. Nonetheless, the fluorescence quenching mechanism in numerous precursors continues to be debated, particularly as the wavelengths extend into the red and near-infrared (NIR) regions. This challenge poses obstacles to systematically optimizing their fluorogenicity, i.e., achieving red-shifted wavelengths and improved fluorescence turn-on signals through click reactions. This paper highlights the significance of photoinduced charge centralization (PCC), a quenching mechanism observed in tetrazine-fused fluorogenic labels with integrated π-conjugations. PCC is primarily responsible for the quenching effects observed in such labels emitting in the red-to-NIR spectrum. Drawing from structure–property relationships, this study proposes two molecular design strategies that incorporate the PCC mechanism and constitutional isomerization to develop high-performance tetrazine-based labels. These strategies facilitate multiplex fluorescence imaging following click reactions, promising significant advancements in bio-orthogonal imaging techniques.

Multi-wavelength imaging is crucial for gaining detailed insights into the multi-depth or multi-wavelength information present in the scenes. However, conventional methods often have limitations, like costly and bulky components restricted to specific wavelength ranges. Here, we introduce an imaging technique named “stochastic photoluminescence and compressed encoding,” or SPACE. SPACE leverages randomly arrayed lanthanide transducers as photonic encoders to capture various excitation wavelengths in a single image, recorded by a charge-coupled device. This approach enables the reconstruction of multiple scenes from this encoded image across four wavelength channels: X-rays (0.089 nm), ultraviolet (375 nm), and two near-infrared bands (808 and 1,532 nm), with the ability to expand to more channels through multi-layer encoders. SPACE enables multi-channel imaging for depth visualization and multi-spectral X-ray analysis, offering broad multi-spectral sensitivity and on-chip compatibility. This makes it a versatile tool for applications in materials characterization, bioimaging, remote sensing, and astronomy.

The effect of high strain rate on adiabatic shear susceptibility and microstructures in Al0.4CoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy (HEA) was examined using a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) and hat-shaped specimens. The results exhibit a clear strain-hardening effect at high strain rates within the experimental range in six specimen groups. The adiabatic shear band (ASB) with an approximately 1 μm wide was formed at 1.05 × 105s−1due to thermoplastic instability resulting from adiabatic temperature rise. The central region of the ASB consists of ultrafine and equiaxed recrystallized grains with a typical size of 100 nm. Comparison of metallographic observation and calculation shear voltage-time, the dynamic shear stress-time curves and the dissipation energy, it was found that the adiabatic shear susceptibility of Al0.4CoCrFeNi HEA increases with increased strain rate. The thermodynamic and kinetic calculations indicate that dynamic recrystallization can occur in the shear band based on the rotational dynamic recrystallization (RDR) mechanism.
