The influence of anisotropy induced by the crystallographic texture on the elastocaloric cooling effect of rolled NiTi alloy was investigated. Cyclic tensile tests were conducted along various directions angles (θ) between the rolling direction (RD) and the transverse direction (TD). The results demonstrated that the dominant texture component of the material were {110}<110> and {001}<110>. With the presence of texture component {110}<110> and {001}<110>, the elastocaloric cooling effect of rolled NiTi alloy presented unusual anisotropy. The adiabatic temperature change ΔTadiis maximum in the θ = 0° direction (//RD) and minimum in the θ = 90° (//TD)direction. The material coefficient of performance COPmatand Carnot COPwere also analyzed and evaluated. The maximum COPmatand Carnot COPobtained were 26.5 and 67%, respectively, indicating a remarkable balance between cooling capacity and efficiency. The present research shed light on optimizing the elastocaloric cooling effect by introducing crystallographic texture characteristic in rolled NiTi alloy.

Mindfulness has long been theorized to benefit emotion regulation, but despite the ubiquity of the claim, there is little empirical evidence demonstrating how mindfulness modulates the neurophysiology of emotion processing. The current study aimed to fill this gap in knowledge by leveraging a novel research approach capable of discretizing mindfulness into distinct states of open monitoring (OM) and focused attention (FA) to distinguish their influence on multimodal subjective and objective measures of emotion processing.

The deformation and effective die quenching are critical to ensure the final dimensional accuracy and strength of the thick-walled curved components in hot forming-quenching integrated process. The deformation behavior of an Al–Cu–Mg alloy plate during bending-quenching process was thus analyzed at different temperatures and die clearances. The strengthening behavior along thickness and radial directions was evaluated under different heating and die quenching conditions. The strengthening mechanism was revealed by microstructure observation. It is found that the smaller die clearance and higher heating temperature contribute to improve the dimensional accuracy. The water-cooled die quenching can ensure the effective quenching of a bended specimen with 25 mm in thickness, being at the strengthening level of peak aging. And, the effective quenching thickness reaches 50 mm at least. Dynamic recovery is the main restoration mechanism in the integrated process. The hardness reduces while air cooling due to the formation of coarse S precipitates with average size exceeding 750 nm. Finally, a large-size tapered thick plate component with superior dimensional accuracy was successfully fabricated under the guidance of the obtained results.

Due to the strong anisotropic property of the advanced metal materials used in automobile, aviation, and aerospace, experimental flow stress–strain relations including different stress states are necessary to provide the information of anisotropic hardening and plastic flow for constructing a constitutive model. Therefore, reasonably reproducing the experimental stress–strain relations is the most fundamental work to substitute adequate flow stress–strain curves into the constitutive equation at the same time. However, accurate and stable regression results are difficult to obtain through the current regression models such as power exponent, second-order function model, fourth-order function model, and so forth. In this paper, an optimized model named as a least square quadratic regression model (ordinary least square model) was proposed based on the most useful second-order function model. The significant difference is that all experimental points are used to reproduce the experimental stress–strain relations in ordinary least square model in place of only three experimental points adopted in second-order function model, which results in good regression accuracy. Through comparison, it is found that the regression results by power function are poor with regard to some experimental results, and the results reproduced by second-order function model or fourth-order function model are very sensitive to the experimental points selected to do the regression. The sum of squares for error (SSE) increases sharply when the selected points are unreasonable. In addition, for second-order function and fourth-order function models, only limited experimental points are adopted to do the regression, the best regression accuracy cannot be obtained even if the selected points are reasonable. In contrast, SSE of the regression curve by ordinary least square model reduces to less than 50% of the best regressed result by second-order function model, the yielding behavior and variable strain increment ratio of the anisotropic materials can be reflected more accurately. This is very important for accurately describing the plastic flow behaviors of anisotropic materials.

The early detection of lung cancer is a major clinical challenge. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have important functions in tumorigenesis. Plasma lncRNAs directly released from primary tumors or the circulating cancer cells might provide cell-free cancer biomarkers. The objective of this study was to investigate whether the lncRNAs could be used as plasma biomarkers for early-stage lung cancer. By using droplet digital polymerase chain reaction, we determined the diagnostic performance of 26 lung cancer–associated lncRNAs in plasma of a development cohort of 63 lung cancer patients and 33 cancer-free individuals, and a validation cohort of 39 lung cancer patients and 28 controls. In the development cohort, 7 of the 26 lncRNAs were reliably measured in plasma. Two (SNHG1 and RMRP) displayed a considerably high plasma level in lung cancer patients vs. cancer-free controls (all P < .001). Combined use of the plasma lncRNAs as a biomarker signature produced 84.13% sensitivity and 87.88% specificity for diagnosis of lung cancer, independent of stage and histological type of lung tumor, and patients' age and sex (all P > .05). The diagnostic value of the plasma lncRNA signature for lung cancer early detection was confirmed in the validation cohort. The plasma lncRNA signature may provide a potential blood-based assay for diagnosing lung cancer at the early stage. Nevertheless, a prospective study is warranted to validate its clinical value.
