In this article the author examines the shrine to Saint Simeon located in a church dedicated to the saint in the Croatian city of Zadar. The central focus of the article concerns the silver decorations that adorn the memorial, medallions of figures that the author contends were taken from designs that can be found on ancient engraved coins and gems. Also discussed is the collecting of the medals, coins and plaquettes of the classical ear and the copies made in the Renaissance but that were cast from the originals.
